*i notice him walk away and i take a shaky breath and wrap my arms around me as if to keep me from falling apart before i follow him. looking at the ground as i walk behind him*

*After I get off the phone with the cab service I look back and walk alongside her out of the park.* “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to betray your trust.”

no it’s fine. i-i just don’t know if i am ready for that. *i say it quietly not looking at him*

“Of course, my apologies.” *I hail the cab and as we ride home in silence I reflect on my error wondering if I had misread her intentions.*

*i glance at him quickly wondering if i should have just kept kissing him or if i should tell him. i turn and look out the window blinking back tears*

*Feeling terrible with myself and wanting to get Autumn home as soon as possible I feel slightly relieved as we roll up to the campus gates. I tip and thank the driver and turn to face Autumn.* “I’m really sorry again, do you need me to walk you home? I understand if you want to go back by yourself…”

*I try to give her a reassuring smile wondering what she means.* “I hope you still had a good time.” I say as we walk.

*When we arrive at her building I give her a small smile and awkward wave.* “Have a nice night.”

*waves and goes in but stops right inside the door where he can’t see me*

*I turn and light up a cigarette and take a drag. With a sigh I pull out my phone and send a text to my sister to meet up later. I walk home and smoke and look at the stars.*
