Alternia (Second Timeline)
-
Skvaada was thoroughly enjoying herself with this movie, it really was much better with company. “Wow! How in the world did she find that!? You better get some security around your hive, because she has CLEARLY been spying on you.” She chuckled with amusement at the thought of the disgruntled kismesis spying on the protagonist with a pair of ridiculous binoculars and all the while desperately wanting to know what was being written in the diary. That level of hate was really something special. Her friend seemed to take the protagonist’s side and protested in outrage at the kismesis’a actions.
The hostess immediately recognized that Zembra was getting more riled up than normal. Her fins were acting a lot like her lusus’ crest, and that spelled destruction. Spurred into action by the impending death of her television screen (having broken things in the house was just plain depressing), she stretched an arm out horizontally to keep Zembra from springing out of her seat and wreaking havoc on her television.
“Shhhh. Don’t worry, she doesn’t completely get away with it. See?” The kismesis in question gleefully went to her husktop to share and spread her ill-gotten info when she realized that the protagonist, before taking off to win back his moirail, had hacked in and changed the language, settings and even scrambled all of the contact names. “Calm yourself, Zem. It’s nothing to get too upset over.”
-
-Zembra felt the arm across her but she kinda snarled at the television a bit was calming a bit. She relaxed back into her seat and glared at the television as her fins tensed then relaxed as she did. She took a deep breath and said, “Sorry, really love this movie. Also lack of sleep so very agitated. There are voices keeping me up at night.”
She watched as the protagonist tried to plead and beg for the first time. The kesmisis sneering at him and jeering as she held his moirail away, holding her tight to herself. Zembra heard the voices again and got really distracted. Her fins perked again as she looked around extremely alert before returning her attention back to the movie. She noticed she missed the Kesmisis telling about the supposed male that could be his matesprit but saw as he begun his perilous quest.
She started thinking on the voices and got lost into her head, more or less staring blankly at the movie, right in the center of the screen.-
-
“Are you okay?” Skvaada asked, growing a touch concerned as anyone would be at the mention of ‘voices’. But a lack of sleep would explain symptoms like that. After a certain amount of sleep deprivation any living creature would start to go a little bit crazy. At least it wouldn’t be good to jump to conclusions regarding the baseline sanity of her new friend, “When we visit your hive, we should probably inspect your recupracoon. Your sopor might have gotten diluted.”
Zembra didn’t seem to be responding to her though, and instead her just staring straight on ahead with a thousand yard stare. “Zembra? Zembra! Respond!” Forgetting the events of the movie entirely, the indigo blood began to wave a hand in front of her friend’s face frantically. “Alright, you need some help. Come on, you can borrow my recupracoon for a few hours, and we’ll see if that helps any.”
-
-Zembra snapped back into listening and looked at Skvaada while speaking quickly, “No no I am fine. Trust me. I havn’t gotten sleep because of the voices but I think it has something to do with one of my ancestors powers. But it’s always screaming and fear that I hear.”
She stood up and said, “Like dying people. But they aren’t from here as far as I can tell. Thank you for offering though. The movie should be a good distraction but some of them are pretty loud. We can still maybe check my recupracoon’s sopor though.”
She then sat back down and stared at the movie and observed the protagonist dodging a spear that was shot from a wall. It was clear they had missed a lot of the movie but she didn’t mind. Her favorite parts were coming up.-
-
“No problem. If you need help though, just tell me,”Skvaada replied sounding a bit worried. Ancestor powers worked in strange and mysterious ways though, and they were something she guessed was best worked out by oneself. Not to mention, her spoor slime might also be off. It was supposed to induce dreamless sleep, and yet she had been having the strangest dreams. They were pleasant at least. Hearing the voices of the dead did NOT sound fun at all.
Skvaada hushed up once the action started to pick up in the movie. The protagonist finally managed to get his hands on the magical artifact, a juju belonging to one of his ancestors, but now everything was quickly going to hell in a handbasket.
“How are these traps even still working?” Skvaada shouted with amused exasperation, throwing her hands up as the protagonist was forced to climb onto a swinging blade trap in order to get enough momentum to fling himself over a slitherbeast pit. Meanwhile, the tricky kismesis was finding herself in quite a predicament. Although she was taking malicious delight with the arrival of each new trap, the pity in the captured moirail’s eyes grew as she was forced to watch her friend struggle so.
“Oh, so do you know who your ancestors were?” The words were asked casually, as the indigo-blood did not intend to come off as prying and was just trying to make casual conversation.
-
-Zembra was starting to bounce where she was sitting from the excitement. She heard her ask to the movie and then to her. “First off, the kesmisis totally pro8a8ly has 8een keeping them up for such an occasion. And as for my ancestors…”
She had to think about her wording as she tried to explain how she knew a bit, “Wwell, One wwas o8viously a violet 8lood. Other-wise, I wwould be a land dwweller. The other I had to do some deep sea-rching. The other was a cerulean 8lood and they filled a 8lack 8ucket together. They weren’t in that quadrant at the time from what it seems. Or maybe they were. Either way here I am, yeah? My computers are amazing at digging up stuff like this. Oh and the cerulean 8lood was the one with the powers.”-
-
“Interesting!” Skvaada replied in response to the seadweller’s story. “I too used to do some ancestor searching back in the day, but I’ve pretty much given all of that up now.” Her mouth twitched into a smile. “There was one indigoblood known by all as being the STRONGest troll, so he just had to be my ancestor.” It was a little hard living up to his name, but she had certainly done her best to hone her physical ability. “I’m a little unclear about his partner though, but I guess I’ve gotten over it.”
Meanwhile, Tobias had decided that popcorn in fact made a very tasty treat and was scarfing both the cooked and uncooked kernels down her hooked beak before shooting a sharp glance at the remaining popcorn being eaten by the two trolls.
-
-Zembra smiled and said, “No kidding? That is impressivve. If you want to know more when we go to my place, maybe my database will have it.” She saw how the talonbeast liked the popcorn and threw a piece up into the air to see if Tobias would go for it. She then took a piece to eat for herself. She also said, “You knoww wwhat wwould also be cool? Wwe could dye each other’s hair and stuff. I havve dye in my home somewwhere. I think it wwould be fun!” She was really excited to have a friend she could talk to.-
-
Tobias stretched her feather neck out and deftly snapped up the popcorn kernels before making a low trilling noise of contentment.
“I’ve never dyed my hair before,” Skvaada confessed, briefly examining a lock and observing the violet streak in her friend’s hair. “It sounds pretty fun, we should try it! Is your hive only accessible from the sea or is there another way to get in?” The seadweller had gotten to her hive very quickly, so it couldn’t be too far away. Especially if Tobias was willing to give her a lift, which was very likely seeing as to how surprisingly quickly she took to the seadweller.
-
-Zembra thought a moment and said, “Maybe there is.”
She tapped her minicomputer over her eye to wake it up. She spoke to it, “Show hive blueprints.” Her miniture computer’s screen obligued and brought up the blueprints of her own hive. She looked to see if there was any entry way she forgot about. She searched near the top and exclaimed, “Ah ha! There is a secret entrance. I totally forgot about it. And yes, it is out of the water. If your lusus landed right at the top, we can get off and enter through a door hidden behind one of my computers.” She scratched the back of her head, “I always thought I left that computer away from the wall out of habit.”-
-
“Your hive has an entrance you forgot about!? That’s not very secure,” she said teasingly with a grin. In the background, the movie’s credits began to crawl their way up from the bottom of the video-viewing screen. Honestly, the prospect of seeing another troll’s hive and having a party was much more exciting than the movie had been. “Is there anything you need that I should bring over?” The troll flicked through her sylladex before noticing that she had some spools of silk thread lodged into one of the cards from her earlier project. “Oh, I have a lot of thread we can use to make some jewelry too.”
-
-Zembra giggled at the thought of the party but sighed contently. “Well,” She thought outloud, “If you wanna sleep over I have a spare sopor pod, I will have to bring it up into my computer room if you want to be able to breathe though! Oh and your lusus can chill too.” She then saw the thread and spazzed, “We can use my plastic blocks to cut out our own beads and trinkets!” She smiled and spun in a circle. “This is going to be sooo much fun! Oh,” She stopped herself, “You might want to bring some small snacks, we mostly have meat stockpiled and some kelp.”-
-
“Breathing would be nice. And I’ll pack some snacks just in case, since I’ve never had kelp before.” The young troll rose from the couch, grinning. “Wait right there, getting the snacks should only take a second and then I’ll be ready to go!”
Without waiting any longer, the young troll sprinted to the food preparation block and began ransacking her cabinet for portable snacks. Satisfied with a bag filled with a colorful assortment of dried fruits and nuts, Skvaada captchalogued it as a BAG OF SNACKS (3) and made a brief stop at her respiteblock to pick up a saddle for Tobias. Unfortunately, captchaloging the SADDLE (8) promptly ejected her SILK THREAD (8). Not even this momentary frustration could stop Skvaada though, and she merely recaptchalogued the thread as a THREAD SPOOL (7) before returning to her seadwelling friend.
-
-Zembra was estatic and was jumping in circles waiting for her new friend. She settled down when she came back and said, “Okay~! You ready to get on there and head to my hive?” She was sort of dancing. She then spoke to her computer, “Map to hive.” It brought up the map and she looked at her friend’s lusus. “Do you think he’d let me put my computer over his eye so he knows where he is going?”-
-
The landdwelling troll gave Zembra a smile in response as she carefully adjusted the saddle on Tobias. She certainly wouldn’t want to accidentally fall out again if Tobias got distracted. Once had been quite enough. “I’m ready, but it might be better if I have the map,” she confessed to her friend. Her lusus could be a bit of a bird-brain at times, and she wouldn’t want to stress Tobias out by asking too much. She hoisted herself up onto the talonbeast’s back and then paused for a moment before turning to the violet blood. “Do you want to come with us, or do you need to go on ahead?”
