Alternia (Second Timeline)
-
The delight of having a full set of silverware for the first time in two weeks was powerful, and she managed to stifle the urge to cackle with glee like some b-horror evil scientist movie villain as she saw the printer begin to produce cutlery of all kinds, including some fancy seadweller implement that she had never seen before. No more drinking soup from a glass or ripping apart her food like some vulgar, uncouth brute. From now on, she could be perfectly refined and polished!
And then Zembra had to reveal her box filled with hair dyes. “Oh. Oh my. You have…quite the selection of colors.” Oh sweet honey iced tea, why!? “Umnn…” She lifted a slightly shaking hand towards the box of colors while her mind went into overdrive. She could choose the indigo-colored dye as befitting her status, but the cooler colors called to her. How much harm would there be in choosing purple or violet or even…no. Pink or fuschia was just too much. She couldn’t deal with the shame of openly admitting her depravity to the world. To even think of wearing the colors of Her Imperial Condescension…the sheer debauchery of it all! But, to choose simple indigo felt like a failure, like a missed opportunity somehow. A trickle of sweat slid down the back of her neck.
“….”
‘….”
“How about white?” Skvaada asked, plucking the white bottle very carefully out of the box. “Which color do you want?” -
-Zembra giggled with glee when she chose white and said, “We can do mine after we do yours! Also I saw you sweat, don’t feel bad about choosing any color.” She leaned in close and whispered, “This one time, I dyed my hair bright red! So scandalous huh?” She giggled and then pulled out pretty much all of the color dyes and set them on a table. She held out her hand for the white and said, “How do you want it done? a stripe? stripes? I can do just about anything. Even write in your hair~!.”-
-
Skvaada’s eyes widened at Zembra, taking a moment to process the sensational news before realizing that her friend appeared to be expecting an answer to her question. “I’d like stripes on the tips, please. And… since you did say any color is okay.” She paused for a moment before deciding to do something daring. After all, this was a crazy day of inviting relative strangers to her hive, rebelling against lusii, making new friends and visiting a seadweller’s hive when she was unable to swim. Giving her new friend a conspiratorial smile, she asked, “Could I please have white and pink stripes?”
-
-Zembra smirked and picked up the pink bottle and pulled up a chair, waving a hand for her new friend to sit. She did, though, start putting in the white on the tips of the hair. She would move as her friend moved in order to get things in smoothly and make it look so cool! “I hope you will like it when I’m done! Then we can do it again if you don’t like it.”-
-
“Ok, but I trust your abilities,” Skvaada replied as she waited for her hair to finish bleaching and tried to hold relatively still so Zembra could put in the hair dye evenly. The whole process certainly appeared to require some finesse. “Is it hard to dye your hair by yourself? It seems quite difficult to put in a specific design.” Once Zembra was finished, the land dwelling troll shot her friend a slightly nervous yet hopeful grin. “How does it look?”
-
Kolarabi sat back in her chair and sighed. She had just finished downloading a code off the internet for some item. She was confused on what it ment, so she messaged one of her smarter friends.

-
-Zembra looked at her friend’s new hair colors and smiled. “Oh! It is easy since I usually only do the one stripe! But I have done many things to my hair before. Also, you look fantastic! Do you want to see?” She pointed to the mirror then noticed her portable computer was going off. She looked at the messages and messaged back,
AM: Wwell, wwhy don’t you come ovver too?
AM: I am sending you a map of my hivve location.
AM: Or mail the code to me.She stopped messaging to place it on a table and hand her friend the dyes she wanted. “Feel free to go crazy with my hair!” She spoke excitedly.

She looked at the message sent be her friend.

She pet her lusus’s claw and said, “Settle down, I’ll only be a while.” She also equipped her COMPUTER TIE, which was really a bow-tie. She then started on her not-so-long journey to her friend’s hive.
-
After Skvaada finished letting out slightly undignified yet delighted squeaks at her new hair stripes, she put down the mirror and took the dyes from Zembra’s hand, her face narrowing with concentration as she tried to decide what pattern within her skill level would look the nicest on her new friend. Well, if it didn’t turn out very well then she could hopefully either play it off as ‘going crazy’ or do it over. The land-dweller took a deep breath and then began methodically applying the dyes to her friend’s hair taking extra time and care to make sure she didn’t accidently squirt the dye out too hard or bruise her friend’s head. She stood back to look at the end result with a content smile, feeling a small boost of confidence. For her first time dying hair, it didn’t look too terrible. But of course what mattered was whether Zembra liked it or not.
“Zembra, I have finished. Is the result…satisfactory?”
-
-Zembra heard her portable computer go off, ignoring it for the time being. She felt her friend being very careful with the dyes and her hair being colored. She smiled and looked into the mirror when she was finished. She screamed out loud with her hands near her her mouth, she hadn’t meant to scream. This caused her lusus to pound head first into the glass again, this time aiming for her friend. She turned and snapped at the shark, “DON’T EVVEN THINK A8OUT IT!”
The yelling caused her lusus to back off. She turned to her friend and said, “I lovve it!” She tried to hug onto her suddenly, she really did love the colors and how they fell. “Oh! We have another coming over! Maybe we can dye their hair too! What do you think? Or a sleep over!” She was extremely excited to the point she forgot she had messages on her portable computer.-
-
Kolarabi stood at the door of the location. She looked at the map once more to check if it was right. She fixed her bow-tie, and played with her hair, looking at her reflection in the window. She then raised her fist to the door and knocked a few times. She heard a bang that startled her. It sounded like something banging on glass. They must have not heard my knocking, she thought. She had her sickles out and waited for something, anything to come after her. After maybe 10 minutes, she put her sickles back and knocked again.
-
The sudden appearance of the once again angry lusus startled Skvaada, who glanced towards her new frined anticipating another strife. Luckily once the beast realized Zembra was not in any actual danger, it left. It was nice to see that the shark lusus wasn’t a terrible care-giver and only appeared to come out of concern for its ward.
“Thanks, I am glad that you like it,” The troll visibly tensed up for a moment when Zembra suddenly latched onto her. She would never consider herself to be a cold troll, but hugs were a thing that never usually happened around her, and the sudden gesture of affection threw her for a loop. For instance, what on Alternia was she supposed to do with her hands, when she had a grip which could shatter silverware? Not that the hug didn’t feel nice though. “…” Another loud banging noise resounded off of the walls of the hive. Either the lusus was attacking again or something else was causing the noise.
“Zembra, I think you have a visitor. Want me to go let them in?”
-
-Zembra heard the know and the assurance of her friend saying someone was outside. She stopped hugging her to clap her hands together. “Oh boy!” She smiled, “You remember where the secret entrance is yeah? If you want to go ahead and I will arrange the dyes!”
She started putting the dyes in color order and checked on her three dimensional printer. She placed in a block of her strongest stuff and started typing in that odd code to see if it would do anything to it. She watched it start cutting then she left it be. She turned to greet the guest. She also wondered how they got here with all the water all around. Maybe they could swim!-
-
Kolarabi stood waiting for the door to be answered. Whatever they’re doing, it sure is taking a long time to answer the door. She thought. The view from her hive was nice though. Kolarabi loved the water. Even though she was a “Land-Dwealer”. She believed in equality, much like her “ancestor” which rumors say, he suffered because of his teachings. Kolarabi didn’t believe ancestory. She thought it to be kind of a joke. She looked through the peep-hole on the hive door, and saw a troll entering from a room. She stood back and waited.
-
“I apologize for taking so long,” Skvaada said once she finished opening up the secret entrance to the sea-dweller’s hive. The hive door was clearly made out of sturdy metal since her grip left only faintest indentation. Since it wasn’t incredibly noticeable, she decided not to bring any attention to the property damage and instead focused on the troll in front of her. “Zembra’s lusus caused a bit of a stir but hopefully it won’t cause any more problems. Please, come in!” The last sentence was spoken in a friendly tone, as she shifted to one side to allow room for the newcomer. “We have been having some fun dying our hair, as you can see. My name is Skvaada, what may I call you?”
