Chapter Five: Retribution

Malice followed the group and listened to them talk while they talked to Calypsa, staying close to Rose. Following them to the bedroom she decides not to go to sleep and instead clean her knives while she looks over Katherine while she is drawing the tarot cards.

Apollo gets out of the dryer in 15 minutes and goes downstairs to Odysseus and Calypsa. “Hey, mind if I sit here or do I have to…whatever.” Apollo left the room, leaving a box of biscuits on the table.

((Odysseus isn’t with Calypsa?))

((oh so I’m alone with Calypsa?))

((Yes))

Calypsa glances at the biscuits and giggles lightly. She picks one up, and it is as hard as a rock. She replaces it in the box and continues sipping her coffee.

Apollo looks at the rock biscuits again. “You should consider melting it a bit.”

“Thank you, Apollo, but I’m not hungry. It’s been a difficult day.” Calypsa stares out the window. “Ozymandias will almost undoubtedly kill more…”

Apollo takes the box of cookies and nervously walks away. ‘Calypsa…is TERRIFYING’

<i>Flashes of memories from the day previous flitted through Jack’s uneasy mind, sweating as he twisted and turned.</i>
<i>He saw every person he killed from his own eyes as he descended from the sky on zipline, firing at the terrified soldiers.</i>
He saw Harvin’s feverish eyes, staring at him, his pale face screaming as the planet was destroyed, burning…
He saw the children staring fearfully at the red eyes of Ozymandias, and as he smiled, his face began to change, the wrinkles smoothing over, the hair slowly turning from raven black to brown…it wasn’t Ozymandias staring down with those haunting red eyes, laughing…it was Jack’s…he stared at the child looking fearfully up, changing…it was Jack too, twelve years old. As Jack laughed, he whispered to Jack, his voice changing to sound like a woman’s, shouting in fear.
<i>”Jack! Help me!” Screamed Shavari.</i>
Jack darted up from his bed, panting. He looked around, realizing where he was. He saw Rose sleeping in the bed across from his. He got up, sitting on the edge of the bed, his head in his hands.

Apollo, who just heard Jack wake up, sprinted down to the bedroom. “Jack! Are you alright?” Apollo quickly toned down his voice, realizing that everyone was still asleep. “Do you need something? You don’t look so good.”

“I’m fine, Apollo.” Jack said, staring at the floor, watching Midzog plead for help over and over in his head.
“Bad dream.”

Apollo shrugged and walked back to the dryer, looking at the 3 dimensional map of their next location. “Hey, Calypsa, are we headed to Chiron?”

Katherine woke up and looked at Jack a bit worried, she waited until Apollo left the room to speak, “You can always talk to me you know, Mr. Human.” Katherine wasn’t as close to him as Rose, but she would still say he was a friend.

Calypsa nods. “Yes, we are heading to Chiron. Shouldn’t be more than 5 hours more. I’m surprised by how well that all of you are taking this…”
