Chapter Four: Fork In The Road

Rose did as told, thankfully the parachute did not bust, like they were commonly known to.

Jack waited until he saw that Rose had successfully done her own, now pulling his. Instead of a parachute, a spare suit flopped out of his pack. He tugged on it a few more times, worried.
“Shit, shit, shit!” He shouted, realizing the implications. He struggled to think of something to do while falling through the clouds.
“Rose, I don’t have a parachute. You’ve already pulled yours, so I doubt you can catch me.” Jack sighed.

Rose sighed, noticing the problem, thank god she had a knife on her. Cutting her strings, Rose dived after Jack, thankfully catching him before swooping up and slowing down their descent.

Jack was caught only a few feet from the ground, Rose swooping in to catch him. He awkwardly sat there, being held in the bridal carry.
“Well, uh, thank you.” He said, realizing how bad that would have hurt to hit the ground.

Rose huffed in relief, “You’re a pretty funny human aren’t you? Always falling into danger and stuff.” Rose landed on the ground and gently put Jack down.

Jack stood up, walking around on the coarse sandy landscape.
“Yeah, most of the time. So it helps whenever an Ascendii swoops in to save me now and then, depending on which one it is.” Jack said jokingly.

Rose laughed a bit as she surveyed the area, walking with Jack. “Knowing Katherine, she would drop you the first chance she gets.”

“That’s why I wanted Rose for this one. A little friendliness goes a long way on missions like this.” Jack said, flipping on the scouter and following it to the base.
“Come on. This way. It’ll take a while, so we’ve got time to talk.”

Rose smiled at Jack, “I see, what shall we talk about?” Rose looked out for anything out the ordinary.

“I dunno. Your pick.” He said, surveying the landscape. It was…brown. The sand ran deep, seemingly like an endless desert. Rock formations were across the barren landscape, dunes in the horizon line miles away.

Rose shrugged, “Opinion on the team at the moment?” Rose wondered how the OGA’s ship/base would look like; hidden, out in the open?

Apollo called Jack. “So did you get the Jack-sized mission suit I put in your parachute compartment? I want mine back.”

Jack suddenly stopped walking, hearing Apollo over the comms.
“Yeah, I did, Apollo. I did.” He turned off his comms.

Apollo hacked into Jack’s comms and immediately started speaking again. “You should put your own on, it’s a lot more comfortable.”

Rose turned to Jack and looked at him confused.
