Chapter Six: Split Paths

“What the fuck?!” Jack shouted as he caught on fire, Ree latched onto him like a strong annoying five year old cousin.
“Get off! Getoffgetoffgetoff!” Jack shrieked as he sprinted around with Ree clinging to him, on fire. He collapsed to his knees, punching him in the temple over and over.
“Fuck that burns! Get off! Get off!”

Apollo deployed the boarding ramp over Earth and began skydiving towards Ree.
Apollo yelled from the top. “This one I like to call epic defense!” Apollo glided in front of Jack and created an electrical forcefield, catching Ree right in the middle of it. “Hi Jack, nice to see you again!”

Apollo quickly blew down the fire on Jack. “Oh, sorry.”

Ree turned to Apollo, slightly terrified that there were two people there. “You again! You blastwaved my circuits. You fireballed my bolts. But not this time!” Ree glitched his head sideways and caught on fire again. “Not today…NOT TODAY!!” Ree lunged towards Apollo and Jack, on fire again.

Apollo leapt in front of Jack and created an electrofield around himself and Jack, his other hand outstretched towards Ree. “Ree. You don’t want to do this the hard way.”

Jack got up, grabbing Apollo’s shoulder.
“You wanna handle this?” Jack nodded to the fast-approaching Ree, screaming with his arms out.

Ree began glowing, similar to a blastwave. “Goodbye, it was nice knowing you, Jack Monroe!”

Apollo yelled and quickly turned blue like Ree before creating an electrical shockwave across his circuits again, this time exerting a lot more force.

Ree stood there, sparking and grunting at Jack and Apollo. “W-what’s the mat-tter Apollo? Jack g-got most of the hits on m-me, why are you s-so happy??!” Ree yelled in pain, but still stood.

Jack took the split second where Ree was stunned to his advantage, leaping forward and cocking his fist back, throwing a punch and uppercutting him, sending him through the air.

Ree went flying up over the height of the skyscraper before plummeting back down to the ground, landing with a sickening snap on the crushed car before glitching even further.

Apollo watched Ree go into the sky. “Hey Jack, I’m sorry about what I said. Turns out you’re not afraid of anything. That was amazing.” Apollo then hugged Jack, but jumped back at Ree’s body falling onto the car. “YI-how high did he go?!”

“Is he dead?” He asked Apollo.
