Chapter Six: Split Paths

Andaluza turned at the <i>insult. </i>”Blind? NO!” Andaluza gripped Jack’s head and began extracting the thermal energy from his body temperature, semi-nulling his brain function through an overheat before clubbing him on the head.

“Okay…neck…” Jack decided to do something daring. Even from an Ascendii, a fall from this height would kill Andaluza. He shimmied up Andaluza, finally reaching over and clocking him as hard as he could on the neck.

Andaluza took the blow dangerously before taking a look at the ground. (If it’s deadly for Ascendii, you’ll spend 2 years recovering from shattered bones.) He then began free-falling with Jack still clinging to him.

Apollo heard the wind rushing. “Hey Ree!”
Apollo expanded the forcefield, hitting Ree with the metal parts before darting back to his original location, intent on catching Jack and Andaluza.

Ree jerked his neck backwards, his trident disengaging and causing him to glitch again before getting beat up by metal parts. “H-HEY!!!”

As they fell, Andaluza opened his eyes (normal color now) and saw the oncoming ground. “Jack, hold onto me!” Andaluza held Jack below and spread his wings apart, turning into a dangerous hang-glider as he attempted to make the smoothest possible landing on the park.

“Oh fuck!” Jack said, holding onto his shoulders.
“We’re crashing! Fuck!” He shouted into his comms, holding onto the divebombing unconscious Andaluza.
“Think, think, think!” He saw buildings zip past as they fell, and Jack had an idea. He hopped onto Andaluza’s back, grabbing his shoulders to secure himself.
“Alright…turn!” Jack yanked Andaluza to the right, the pair diving now towards a building.
“There’s Apollo and Ree!” He shouted, seeing the two duke it out. Time to make this work. He angled towards Ree as they launched through the skies…Jack had to time this perfectly. As they got closer to the ground. Jack aimed for a window in a building.
“Three…two…one!” Jack let go of Andaluza, the Ascendii flying through the window and landing securely in the room, safe despite smashing through glass. Jack tumbled through the air, screaming in the midst of his adrenaline rush as he tackled Ree from mid-air, going tumbling into the road with him.

Apollo piled on Jack in midair, hitting Ree over and over across the face. “Hi Jack! How did you get his neck?”

Ree yelled at he got hit by Apollo, Ree, and Andaluza, laying on the ground, glitching.

“By…hitting it.” <i>Jack wheezed, having probably broken every rib in his body.</i>
“That stung…did it look cool though?” Jack coughed, realizing that he just sky-surfed Andaluza’s unconscious body, ejected him into a window and then tackled Ree.

Apollo pulled Ree to his feet. “Jack, now we can interrogate him.”

“G-give me a second before interrogating. Check the second story window for Andaluza. I tried to get him through the window. Man, that stings like a motherfucker.” Jack said, holding his ribs.

Andaluza stared out of the window before jumping down to greet them, Jack first.
“Hey Jack, are you alright? I saw you trying to ride me earlier, but I guess I can’t lift 200 pounds with my wings. So I did the best I could to-” Andaluza scanned Jack up and down. “-actually, you kind of took care of that. Thanks.”

Apollo stood there, looking at Andaluza. “Got ’em.”
Apollo then began scanning Andaluza for injuries, not finding any but his bleeding eyes. “Hey, are those going to be ok? You can see, right?”

“It’s all good…” Jack said, getting up and groaning a bit.
“So what do we do now?” Jack asked.
