Chapter Six: Split Paths

(Pandora did you seriously just say fluttered? xD)
Apollo began tying down his own feet to the left side and Andaluza’s feet to the right side. “Pandora, here’s a chart. There’s a small sleeve for it in the middle of the raft, put it in there before we rocket forwards at 70 an hour.” Apollo bent his wings a few times before making them face outwards again.

Andaluza took the chart and launched the raft across the lake, crashing it in front of many people with red eyes wearing shining osmium armor, the gravity of them radiating onto their faces.
A large one with a red device hits the button and the three Ascendii drop to the floor, unconscious. “Benny, they’re secure. We used 50 years of omega energy to make them drop instantly, make haste and trap them in a germanium cage.”

Apollo woke up first, looking at the cage that was in a dimly lit area underground, and the only light was from the cage’s yellow glow of the bars. “Andaluza, wake up. Let Pandora come around whenever she does but I need you right now.”

Andaluza woke up quickly. “Huh? Oh, yeah.”

Apollo pointed to the bars. “They’re strong but I think you can rip through them. Let me first extract the electricity off of them.” Apollo began to stream the energy out of the bars, leaving just the metal. “Hurry! It’s straining.”

Andaluza grabbed both bars and attempted to rip them apart, resulting in a small dent that flexed back. “DAMN! We need a superhuman or some shit to rip this open!”

Apollo quickly hushed Andaluza and pointed at the soldiers in armor standing around the cage now. “Look.”
A soldier began laughing. “The three most powerful Ascendii in the universe. They played right into our hands! Oh…Ozymandias would be so proud of me.”
Apollo stood up and rolled his eyes. “He would probably be proud of you if you would shut up. Wasted 50 years of energy just to catch us? You have no idea who you’re messing with.”

Suddenly a figure garbed in black military gear burst in, opening fire on the soldiers. As they crumpled to the ground, the person walked forward, removing their metallic mask with a red triangle spray-painted on the front. Jack grinned at the team.
“Guess who’s back, bitches?”

The soldier quickly slammed the bars. “What did you do to my electricity?!”
Andaluza enjoyed the show as he watched the soldier scream on.

Apollo yelled across the room. “Hey Jack! I removed the electricity from the bars, break it open fast!”
Apollo then created a yellow shockwave and blasted the soldier across the face, throwing him out the window. “Ozymandias can appreciate you down there!”

Jack grabbed the bar, tearing it off. He watched them climb through.
“I’m here for Ody.” Jack sifted through a dead soldier’s gear, extracting his comms and removing the data chip from the earpiece, putting the small card into a slit in his armored glove. A holographic screen opened up, Jack pressing buttons on his wrist. Suddenly, a voice was crackling through.
“This is Squadron T-90. Closest in report to distress call from location of Apollo, Andaluza and Pandora. Subjects seemed to have escaped.” There was silence, then a deep voice spoke that sounded like a darker more menacing version of somebody he once knew.
“Jack.”

Apollo looked remorsefully at Jack. “He’s not here. Neither is Calypsa. It’s just the current team as it stands. Andaluza, Pandora, and me.” Apollo went back into the cage and came back holding Pandora. “Speaking of Pandora, her body couldn’t quite take the radiation from the Omega. She’ll be out a while. So, where you’ve been?”

Andaluza got out and hugged Jack insanely hard. “Hey Jack! Without you, I’ve been the strongest muscle factor in the team! Now that you’re back, we can share that role! The only difference is that you’re a freakin superhuman and I can run 10 times faster than you can. We good here?”

“What happened to the other members?” Jack asked, leaning down and messing with his monitor.

Apollo looked down at his feet. “Katherine and Malice split. They lost faith in us. Odysseus is missing in action, Faye was captured. That leaves us three, a not so happy family. Like the suits though?”
