Casi listened to her words silently and when back to crying after a few moments, unable to hold it in. She knew it wasn’t Rose’s fault, neither was it Karkat’s, or anyone, just a mishap of words that got a string of events going. Though she mostly knew it was her fault, she gave Karkat the push to go look, and it resulted in this. Even so she mourned for her father’s death, silently wishing for her other, but knew it was fruitless. Casi cried herself into exhaustion after a while, and passed out under her bed, curled up in a cramped position.
-
Grey tugged on his dad’s arm once he spotted dirk take off. “We gotta help Pa..” He managed to walk over and kneel next to his other father and hesitantly touched his hair. “Pa…?”
-
-Karkat took the chance and crawled over to Casi’s sleeping body, curling up around it and crying gently on her. He really hoped she didn’t wake up. John followed over to Dave, him gritting his teeth still but seeming better with the little bit of healing. Dave looked up at Grey and said, “Hey there… How have… urk… you been?”-
-
Casi opened her eyes silently at the moment then closed them, turning over.burring her face in Karkat’s chest and shook, crying silently once more. Then passed out again, her body unable to hold the emotional stress it was being put under. Her breath was ragged in her sleep, her face troubled and her body tense.
-
Grey gently touch his other father’s face. “Better than you Pa..” he examined his body worried about all the blood. “Where are you hurt?” He gently brushed his father’s hair out of his face. “Is there anything I can do to help?”
-
-Karkat held onto her close and cried with her. He was used to being an emotional wreck and could stand to help her in her time of need. It was his fault, after all. Dave smiled and said, “When I was in battle before this last time, my arms got stabbed through at the shoulders and partly onto my… urg… torso… but they healed it up again, I just need to not be sore.” He offered a friendly grin. John looked at him and said, “You know, you shouldn’t of taken that hit. Dirk is much faster than you.” Dave looked at John and said, “He wasn’t moving so I made him move.”-
-
In her sleep the girl was wreaked with shivers, her hoodie damp from her teals, chilling her and the dark coolness under her bed didn’t help her so much. She dreamed of the colour yellow, with flashes of red that looked like blood.
-
Grey grinned back, relived. “So your going to be okay? “He hesitantly touch his father’s shoulder, should i get some warm rags and water bottles to help?”
-
-Karkat held the shivering Casi close and tried to use his body heat to help. He didn’t know if it was emotional shivering or not. He was still upset too if she was. He didn’t mean it. Dave looked at Grey again and said, “A few… Might help.” John leaned down and took one of Dave’s hands. Them smiling at each other.-
-
Casi woke up and pushed her self away from Karkat gently, removing her hoodie. Then she dragged her self back, burrowing her face in his chest and just layed there in silence. The girl then sniffled again and hugged Karkat’s middle, needing the emotional help.
-
Grey smiled happily before running to the kitchen and grabbing a few fist fulls of slightly damp rags and throwing them in the microwave. He filled two water bottles with warm water and grabbed the warmed rags to race back to his parents. He grinned happily, “Is this enough?”
-
-Karkat watched her place her hoodie away and hugged her close when she came back. He gently rubbed her back with one hand and held her head with the other. He was calming down despite still feeling like a piece of trash. Dave smiled and said, “Yeah, that should do it.” John reached for one of the two rags and said, “we should wipe off his arm then place the bottles for his muscles to heal.”-
-
Casi was still for a moment,”..Why the fuck did I choose under my bed to hide?” Her voice was raspy and quiet, the girl pulled her self away and groped around for her shades. She hiccuped, making a small squeaking sound and gave up on her shades, not caring any more. The girl’s room was a dim golden yellow, so what difference would the shades make any ways. She crawled back to Karkat and slid out from under the bed and tugged him with her, then set him on her bed, herself sitting next to him. Casi scrubbed her face, still shaking lightly but mostly calmed down, and stood up. “Thank you Karkat, but if you excuse me, I need to find my father.”
From her modus she got a spare set of shades and shoved it on her face, hugging her scared, bared arms around her self and fled the room in search of Dirk. She eventually found him in Jake’s room and walked in silently. The girl sat herself by him and pulled him into her lap, hugging him tightly. -
He gently started to wipe away the blood on his neck and shoulders before tucking one of the bottles against his neck. “Like this?” He grabbed a clean cloth and started to get the dried blood out of his hair.
-
-Karkat smiled when she thanked him and when she went to go find Dirk, he went back to his room. Dirk didn’t seem to want to be moved and just held onto her and whispered, “It should have been me…” John smiled and said, “Yeah, it should help him be able to move his arms sooner.” He took one and gently wiped off Dave. Dave smiled at them and said, “Thanks…”-
