Ivan was wondering around France wearing his musketeer regalia with his rapier by his side humming a jaunty tune. He listened to what was going on in the town the rumors of the cardinals betrayal circulating already. He had not put much stock in it. Then again he didn’t put much stock in the affairs of mortals though he did not want to rule them he did not want to change their destiny. Taking his fedora off as he walked into the tavern he tucked it under his arm. Walking to a table in the back where he was to meet with the Cardinals musketeers. He was trying to find out if they where with France or the church. A bar maid came over and asked for his order and he smiled and ordered a wine. She smiled and wondered off to get his order.

A tall man dressed in all black enters followed by three men of shorter stature but dressed just the same walked in behind him and scanned the area before taking their fedoras off and heading towards the back where Ivan was sitting. The man took a seat just as the bar maid came back with his drink. “Wench get me a clean glass” he ordered her.

She shrank back from the man and hurried off to the bar and in no time was back with a pitcher of wine and the glass that was asked for. She set them on the table and quickly scurried off. The man turned his gaze to Ivan an Imposing man himself. The man dressed in black poured his drink and then took a sip of the wine before he spoke. “You have called this meeting in secret behind the back of your own people and the church. I assume it is of much importance that you would risk treason charges for this.”

Ivan smiled behind his glass as he took a large drink from his wine glass. Setting the glass down he pulled his gloves off to show he was not a threat at this point in time. Folding his hands together as he watched the man for a moment leaving him waiting for a bit before speaking. “Treason is the reason I am calling this meeting. I am sure you are aware of the whispers of betrayal that are circulating about the city. I want to know where your loyalty is.” He then took and gripped his glass and sipped his wine. “Also I know you are loyal to the Cardinal as I am the king. You where once one of us from my understanding. So what I am wondering is if it comes down to a power play between the church and the state what side of the line do you stand on?”

The man in black just smiled at him and his man already had their hands on their blades. “So you are accusing me of treason?” The man said with a slightly bemused sound to his voice. “Those are heavy allegations you are making if that is indeed what you are doing?” Smiling still he stands and pushes his chair in leaving the wine untouched. “And to answer your final question I am on the winning side.” Turning the man lifted his hand waving the man off but the three men drew their weapons.

Ivan be been used to fighting with out protection to his hands for some time he hopped up and drew his sword and started to fight with the three men dancing them around the tables and tell his back was to the door and backed out of the tavern. The fight Spilled over into the streets. as he continued to fight the three using other moves then just the fencing ones he had learned. As they fought for hours through the streets and out of the City and into an open field one managed to circle behind him and ram a sword through his chest right through his heart. They left him on the ground with no last rites and to be left for the vultures. Two hours passed and his eyes shot open and he got up and looked back to the city and sheathed his rapier. Ivan sneaked back into the city under the cover of night and retrieved certain weapons from his house and set up deed transfers to any children that may come looking for their home and enough money to cover the taxes for the next 200 years. Taking his horse and what he needed he left France behind and headed for India.
