Chi cocks her head in confusion, “Chi~ Was Chi not correct? Did Chi do something wrong?” She looks at Stitch, “Chi~ What’s wrong?”

Selena cried out when one of the Hounds knocked her off her feet before she could fire an arrow, desperately trying to avoid being bitten by the savage creature. I can’t become one of them! I won’t let HIM control-
Without warning, the Hound on top of her was sent flying, and in its place was another cat woman-only this one was a tigress. She landed on her feet, crouched in a Martial Artist’s stance, not looking at Selena as she scrambled to her feet. “Aunt Rashelle!”
“Were you bitten, Selena?”
“No, thank the Great Mother.”
“Good. Your mother is on her way, as is Marina.”
Selena winced. Facing up to her mother and Aunt Marina wasn’t going to be fun-not that she would have a choice in the matter. “How angry is Aunt Marina?”
“Oddly enough, she’s not angry at all. After all, she has been drilling it into you to call for help when you need it, Selena.” Rashelle flicked a glance at her and smiled encouragingly, belying the sadness deep in her eyes. “They’re more likely to be glad you’re alive than anything else, Selena.”
Stepping up next to her, Selena scooped up her bow from where it had been sent flying earlier. “Did you see the Lady up on the top deck, Rashelle? The one with the cat girl and the Nine Tailed Fox?”
“I did, yes. Her companions are both Shikigami, Selena-powerful in their own right. You’ve done well today. Selena, I believe that now may be a good time to start shooting.”
Selena flushed under her fur, but did as she was instructed, glad that this, at least, she was able to do.

In actuality, Chen was only powerful if she was close to Ran – Explaining why Chen always hid behind her, despite Yukari being so much more powerful. While Ran, being the nine-tailed kitsune, was much more powerful – Even Ran’s power was partially dependent on how close she is to Yukari. However, it generally had to be a broad scale before either’s power deteriorated. At the distance they would generally be on the cruise ship, Ran and Chen would almost constantly be at their full power.
Yukari watched as Ran was able to temporarily ripple the shield, pushing in. The kitsune had every intent to put down anything that would dare threaten Chen’s well-being. One could say, despite Yukari having a master-servant relationship with Ran, the kitsune was more like a mother to the young catgirl.

((I is dropping out of this forum now. Bi bi! I’ll still be in the coffee shop))

((wow… I’m so stupid… I forgot to subscribe to the thread… I’m going to try and catch up somehow…))
Stitch looks around in surprise as weird dog-like things seem to appear out of nowhere. A shudder rolls down my spine, I felt an ominous presence. I stick close to Stitch, thinking he would protect me if anything that could actually see me decided to attack. “You feel that?” I ask him in a low tone. Stitch turns obliviously to me, confused. “Feel what?” he replies. It was obvious that he couldn’t sense the presence I could.

Selena shot one of the Hounds with her bow as she lowered the shield before the Nine Tailed Fox, grateful for any help as Rakelle battered another of the large dogs with a series of kicks and punches that were almost impossible to see. Once defeated, the Hound simply dissipated into a cloud of black smoke that gradually disappeared-not that it stopped Rakelle from moving on to the next one any quicker.
Having spread her senses through the ship, Selena knew the instant that the ghost girl came under attack from the Hounds, and, not even hesitating, she whirled and ran from the fight, frantic to reach her as quickly as she could. “Rakelle! There’s a girl under attack-I’m going to help her!”
“Selena, wait! Don’t go without… Marina.” Rakelle was left on her own with the remaining Hounds and the other woman, an exasperated look on her face. “That girl has no patience at all-just like her mother. You wouldn’t think she was only three months old, though.” She sighed, and whirled into a flying kick that sent a nearby Hound flying up into the ceiling, denting the materials there before it dissipated into black smoke again. “Larina’s not going to be happy about this…”
-
I turn around and gasp, my eyes widening to their max. A black wolf-dog had tried to pounce on me, but someone had kicked it out of the way. I stumble backwards, accidentally crashing into Stitch. “GAH!!” he exclaims, and we both tumble to the ground. It must have looked pretty weird to anyone who couldn’t see me for someone to randomly fall over.
-
Ran was making relatively quick work of the Hounds. Being the nine-tailed kitsune, and so close to her monster, the supernatural strength and speed of the Hounds was nothing compared to Ran’s – In addition, Ran had strong magical power.
The look in Ran’s eyes was determined. She had intent to kill these beings, or bring them to whatever the Hellhound equivalent of death was. Nobody was to injure Yukari, and especially not Chen – Not on Ran’s watch, by any means. She knew that one had slipped by her, but Ran would have to deal with that later, if the others did not.
-
Bursting into the room, Selena kicked out at the Hound jumping for the girl, sending it flying as the girl herself stumbled backwards into her friend. Landing in a crouch, Selena leveled her bow, grabbed an arrow, nocked it and fired all in the space of a few seconds.
The arrow was followed by another two, rapidly sinking into the Hound’s chest as it leaped towards her, and then falling to the ground as it turned into black smoke. With a sigh of relief, Selena quickly erected a shield over the door before looking at the girl with a smile.
“Sorry about that-these things are running rampant around here.” She smiled as she helped them up.
-
“WAAAHHHH!!! PERSON!!” Cries Stitch, hiding behind me. I stand up shakily with help from the girl, watching in wonder. “Thank you, but… Who are you?” I ask.
-
“My name is Selena.” She smiled at them cheerfully. “I’m an Acolyte of the Great Mother Goddess-which means I’m a Priestess, of sorts, but one who’s not very high in the social order. I was sent here because the Goddess sensed something wrong with this ship, and because She knew there would be spirits aboard. Your kind has a lot of enemies, unfortunately.”
A Hound slammed itself against the shield she’d placed over the door, then retreated before she could shoot it, and Selena muttered a curse under her breath. “I hope Marina and Mother get here soon… I only learned how to make a shield a few weeks ago, and they’re not all that strong yet…”
-
“Wait, you can see Samantha?” asks Stitch, peeking out from behind me. We didn’t run into many people that could see me…
“I didn’t know I had enemies…” I mumble under my breath, my face troubled. Was it something personal I had done,or was it simply because I was dead?

There was the sound of a loud foghorn, indicating that the ship would soon be leaving, and the hell hounds retreated, seeming to disappear into the boiler room. A friendly, dulcet male voice was heard over the speakers. “Hello passengers, and thank you for choosing Acheron cruise lines for your journey. Captain Charon speaking, we’d like to apologize for those unruly stowaways some of you may have encountered. They must have slipped on at our previous destination.” The captain chuckled at that before continuing. “Now, we’ll be setting off very soon, but first, I need to request that all passengers come to the top deck for a ticket check and a quick review of safety precautions. Thank you!”
-
Ran headed back up the stairs after the Hellhounds left. Yukari was waiting patiently for her shikigami, taking in the people and surroundings. Spirit children, and the machine they met earlier, as well as the one originally fighting the Hell Hounds before Ran stepped in…This was bound to be an entertaining ride.

Selena smiled as she placed a hand on Stitch’s head. “I can more than see her-if I needed to, I could heal her as well, although if she needed that kind of help I would be better off calling one of my superiors.” She tilted her head in annoyance at the announcement, fangs bared. “Slipped on at the previous destination…? Hell Hounds don’t just randomly board shi-yeep!”
She winced as her shield was ripped down from outside, revealing a very angry looking cat woman with brown hair, eyes and clothes, wielding a broadsword as if it was practically nothing. “Selenaaaaa….!”
“Um, hi, Aunt Mari…” Selena smiled sheepishly as she stepped in front of the kids. “Nice… um… nice fangs…?”
“Don’t you give me nice fangs!!! You went off on your own again, you silly little brat!!!” Marina’s hand flashed out and she grabbed Selena’s ear, making her yelp in surprise as Marina pulled on the appendage, hard. “For a new born Acolyte, Selena, you have a bad habit of getting into trouble!!!”
“Now, now, Marina, let her ear go, now.” Another snow leopard woman had appeared in the doorway, her eyes sparkling as she smiled playfully. “You and I were just as bad at her age, after all.”
Marina snorted. “I doubt that, Larina. You and I were kept inside the Temple until we were both ten, after all. And neither of us were stupid enough to chase after Hell Hounds when we were three months old!”
“Weren’t we?” Larina smiled and raised an eyebrow, making Marina flush under her fur as she finally released Selena’s ear, looking away as she did. Selena glanced curiously from her aunt to her mother, then smiled ruefully.
“Um… we’re still expected up on deck…”
Marina’s eyes snapped back to her, and she grabbed Selena’s scruff to haul her towards the door. “We are, yes, and I am not letting you out of my sight until after the tickets have all been checked and those Hounds cleaned out. Got that?”
Selena winced. “Yes, Aunt Mari…”
