Brielle and Adrian whispered to each other in hushed tones while their trainer, Gaelan, left to prepare some food for their team. “Brielle, what are we doing here? We have to go sooner or later. Once the fighting starts for real, True Heirs is NOT going to want Pokémon like us hanging around. We should leave while the going is good.” Adrian asked, his voice a fearful whisper as he rubbed his hands together nervously, The blades on the end of his arms making a sharp ‘snick’ as they clacked together.

“Adrian… you know exactly why. We can’t just leave Gaelan, not after he vouched for us.” Brielle replied, flicking her mushroom laden tail furiously. Adrian sighed in response. Originally, Gaelan’s team was sure they were done for when True Heirs recruited their Pokémon trainer, but amazingly he vouched for them and refused to join until he was sure his Pokémon could live in the HQ safely because he trusted in their loyalty to him. No one had been happy, but it had prevented any needless fighting and kept the three Pokémon, especially the innocent Sandstream safe.

“We’re gonna leave Master!? I DON’T WANNA!” Sandstream, who had been hiding in the room’s rafters, wailed.

Brielle sighed in a placating tone, “Don’t worry, no one’s leaving anybody,” while Adrian hissed out of ear-shot of the young Gligar, “We’re going to have to eventually. He’s been getting worse every day.”

Brielle glared and shot back, “It’s not his fault. It’s his disease. You can’t possibly be blaming this on Gaelan.”

“I’m not blaming him, but you can tell what he’s turning into and where this is going end.” Adrian retorted, before falling silent as the door to the room opened and their trainer walked in carrying plates of pancakes, berries and some slices of pan-fried kipper. Gaelan nearly tripped and dropped all of their breakfast when Sandstream pounced, wrapping her wings around her trainer’s neck affectionately and throwing him off balance.

“ACK! Hello SS. PLEASE get off of me, I’m going to drop this!”

Due to his request, Sandstream happily released him in favor of grabbing some large strawberries off the plate to nibble on.

“Alright guys, eat up! We have a big day ahead of us.”

-Ryuu pulled up and parked her car in a special Garage for the True Heirs HQ. She got out and locked it as she traveled out of the garage and towards one of the buildings. She could almost feel the outside air eating away at her and felt pains in her head. She would not stop to grip them as she didn’t know who could be watching.

She took dark red gloves from out of her pocket, placing them on in knowing if she were to cough, the blood wouldn’t show on them. She saw out of the corner of her eye a trainer walking into one of the buildings with plates of food. She stopped to think about perhaps following, as she heard voices from the building.

With her mind made up, she strode to the door, stopping right outside of it. She poised her hand to only rap gently against the door, trying to not be rude. She made sure to adjust her eye patch, light glimmering off the red R on it as she straightened her posture. She spoke out to the inhabitants, “Hello in there? May I come in?”-

Gaelan’s red eyes narrowed at the woman in front of the door as he observed the newcomer from a peephole. She was a member of Team Rocket, not just a thug but one of the higher up members if not the actual leader. Back before the war, he would have attacked anyone wearing the Rocket R on sight, but now … they were allies.

“What a sick twist of fate,” he muttered to himself and for the sake of his Pokemon before reluctantly letting her into the HQ.

    “Of course, what news?”

-Ryuu looked at Gaelan and offered a smile as she entered. She also took a quick look over the poke’mon that were present. She cleared her throat a bit and said, “We lost a mini-base located in Unova and one in Kanto. But enough of the harsh war things as it appears I am early.”

She tilted her head to the right as she stared at some of them but slowly returned to look at Gaelan. “You have a nice looking bunch,” She spoke with a smile, knowing there was none there to chide at her affections for poke’mon as it seemed he also had affections too.

“Mine are off elsewhere.” She made a cough look as if she was clearing her throat once more, hiding the blood from her mouth on the gloves.-

“I see, I’m sorry for your loss.” Gaelan meant that honestly. He had no idea what he would do if his Pokémon left him. On the other hand, if the Rocket leader had been mistreating her Pokémon, then maybe it was best they were gone.

He paused for a moment, trying and failing to not stare at the horns on top of the woman’s head, trying to place the Pokémon they belonged to. Sandstream made a slurping noise as she continued to eat, snapping Gaelan back to the present.

“Oh, I apologize for being rude. My name is Gaelan. This is Adrian, Brielle and Sandstream,” he said pointing to each Pokémon in turn as he introduced them to Ryuu.

“Can I get you anything to eat? We were just finishing brunch.”

-Ryuu smiled a bit to him and his offer. She was a bit shy of the offer but took the greetings. “It is very nice to meet you, Gaelan and company,” She tilted her head to them before continuing, “My name is Ryuu Sangue Giovanni. I just hope I didn’t ruin your brunch. Also, Sandstream looks like a cutie.”

She spoke with sincerity in her voice, hoping to let him understand that her poke’mon left not of their own will. Just to make it clearer she said, “Usually, my houndoom would follow me. His name is Death and I raised him since I was young. Then I found his brother, War. War is a Charizard. They are the opposite sides of the same coin those two.”

She had to stop herself as she had forgotten to respond to the offer. “I wouldn’t want to bother you and I had a little snack before coming,” She felt her voice shaking a bit so she took a few deep breaths to relax and poise herself, knowing it was useless so she took to a wall and sat down. “Pardon my rudeness but it has been a long drive.”-

Sandstream grinned at the praise while Brielle sighed, “Oh boy. We’ll never hear the end of it now.”

Gaelan blinked, starting to feel some concern for the trainer in front of him. She hasn’t been attacked, had she? “No problem, Ryuu. Take as long as you need. If there’s anything I can do for you, just ask.”

Adrian returned to his meal watching the two humans warily while Brielle decided to keep her younger sister occupied and out of trouble by playing with Gaelan’s pokeball belt. They ran around the room, slapping stickers onto the front and throwing them on the ground at each other to create mini clouds of petals and confetti.

Meanwhile, Gaelan paused, it’d be more than a little awkward to just stand while the crime boss was sitting so he made sure to busy himself collecting the last few things he needed for his outing and packing them carefully away into a hiking backpack.

“I hope you don’t mind, I’m just getting a few things together for my trip. I have a list of supplies to look for that might be able to be used for a cure.” Gaelan paused, ” Of course they might not work but you’ve got to have hope…”

-Ryuu’s eyes followed Gaelan, a slight smile as he went about his way. She tried to disguise another cough into her hand but it did show as a coughing fit. She made sure, though, that the blood only got onto her hand. Immidiately after, she straightened up with a smile.

“Where are you headed?” She asked curiously. “I know the professors of the regions had tried for a cure once. Oak is gone because of it. Also, how will we know if it would really be a cure?”

She was pessimistic at the moment then thought about her poke’mon. She looked down and said, “Maybe it will… I just want my houndoom to live peacefully again. That is all he wanted.” She paused before continuing, “I have an oxygen tank in my car. If you think it is of some use, you can take it.”-

“We don’t know, but I’ve got to try. There’s no way I can live like…this. If even one of these things will bring us closer to stopping this nightmare. I’m headed to the Hoenn region, but I’ll probably do some spying along the Kanto shoreline and try to get some intel while I’m at it and see if the peacekeepers have anything.” Gaelan couldn’t help but laugh, yet his regular laugh came out as a hollow, yet somehow almost hysterical cackle. Adrian’s gaze fixed on his trainer and he tilted his head to the side questioningly.

“Ahem, well. Sorry about that. Anyway…an oxygen tank…that’s a weird thing to have in your car. If you don’t mind me asking, why do you have an oxygen tank? Does it slow the disease or something? Because I certainly don’t intend to scuba dive all the way to Hoenn.” He spoke the last jokingly, his red eyes flashing.

Brielle spoke up, having been listening in part to the conversation. “What happened to Oak?”

-Ryuu listened and the laugh caught her off guard. It was disturbing to her but she couldn’t help but listen. She heard the questions asked of her as she thought about it. She then took off her one glove and extended it out to Gaelan. The glove still had blood on it.

“It is hard to explain,” Ryuu spoke, reluctantly but she felt she could trust him, one trainer to another, “I am allergic to the disease and somehow, I don’t understand it, but it has helped. Perhaps it is one of a few things you might need.”

She looked to the ground as she thought of how to answer about Oak then shook her head. “He was starting to turn half Noctowl. I got to witness every stage. My friend, myself, we tried to protect him from a few rampaging poke’mon. Death saved me but Oak and my friend could not be saved. They blamed Oak for the disease and it was partially his fault…” She stopped herself short and leaned her head back, refusing to want to say anymore but continued, “Death saw it…”-

The sad news about Professor Oak halted Brielle in mid-bounce. “Professor Oak is..!” She let out a gasp of horror, holding her red-tipped fingers to her face in shock. Adrian drooped with sorrow, while even the normally joyous Sandstream’s eyes watered.

Gaelan’s eyes flashed angrily as he hissed, “Fools! Those stupid fools! Oak might have actually been able to help us, all of us, and yet they couldn’t keep themselves in check.” He began to pace angrily, “And what about all of the Pokémon the good professor was taking care of? Did they help him escape, or did they just run off and ABANDON him!?”

The second to last word was raised as an angry screech.

There was a pregnant moment of silence before Gaelan’s shoulders drooped, “I apologize, that was uncalled for. I was just…disturbed by the news and the violence of some of the Pokémon we’re dealing with.”

He paused again, truly embarrassed by the temper tantrum he had just shown, and to a complete stranger! “I- I’m sorry for what happened. I never actually knew the man, but I know losing a good friend is a great loss. If the Pokémon went berserk then there really was nothing you can do, I hope you and Death don’t blame yourself, Miss Giovanni.”

I’ll let Narrator take over for now.
    ————————————————————————————
As Jason walked cautiously through what he knew would probably be hostile, yet thrilling, territory. Sneaking along as quietly as possible, he zips over to a good ol’ bush and listens for news.
“Have to get reliable news from one place and one place only, and it just so happens to be here.” Jason mutters to himself.

Minutes later, after seeing one of the more complex conversations anyone can have, Jason decides to sneak into the building. “Might as well. I mean, it’s not like I have anything to lose.” Muttering again, Jason risks being heard….

-Ryuu’s focus couldn’t catch the sneaking newcomer as she remained in tune to the conversation at hand. She didn’t mind his outburst and said, “It is alright… And it was Oak’s own poke’mon that turned on him. They started the poke’mon’s group but…”

She paused to cough into her hand, blood splattering on her skin as she didn’t have her glove on anymore. She thought quickly to try and get it back on but she couldn’t stop coughing for a moment. She took a few deep breaths and muttered to herself, “damn, its happening faster…”

Her head raised back up as she said to them, “the ledgendaries took over. If you could, there are two oxygen tanks and a mask. Please at least bring me the one.” She took out her car keys and held them out willingly. “I need the mask, I am sorry. You can take the car for your journey but cover the ‘R’ somehow.”-

Peering over in the direction of the 2 humans talking in front of the HQ, Jason has the sudden and ludicrous idea of talking to them. “Eh. Why not?” he mutters and shrugs.

Walking over behind the woman, he grins wildly and taps her on the shoulder.
