Looking up with bitterness in his eyes, he says: “Jason. Call me Jason.”
-
-Ryuu heard the introductions, securing the mask firmly so she would only need to carry the tank with her. She looked at Jason and tilted her head. She chuckled a bit and whispered, “Secure.”
She then went back to the wall to stand against it and watch them, speaking loud enough for all to hear, “Oh by the way, none of the collars have a shock setting. I was bluffing.”-
-
“Imagine, for a moment.” Jason was dangerously calm. “That I am not what you see. That I am not one or the other, nor both. Imagine I was not really here. Imagine. And contemplate.” Jason shuts up for a bit, then yells cheerfully, “So! what next?”
-
Gaelan blinked at the change in demeanor and narrowed his eyes, staring the Quilava straight in the face. “Don’t even think about escaping, Jason, shock-collar or no. I’ll treat you well as long as you’re cooperative but if you start trying to double-cross us, I will not hesitate to take you down.”
He then sat up, brushing dust off of his shins, “Now that that’s over, do you have a favorite food for brunch? We just finished, but I’d be willing to make you something.”
Sandstream grinned and returned the quicksand floor to normal before gliding over to the Quilava quickly, aiming for a welcoming tackle-hug.
-
“Hey there ‘lil bro. Sorry ’bout earlier. I was kinda curious, ya know?” Jason accepts the tackle-hug and begins talking. “So, you guys here cause you wanna? I bet it’s a no.”
-
Sandstream just giggled happily, “I wanna be out exploring again! And we’re gonna go too!! We’re going to Hoenn! It’ll be fun!” The fly scorpion adjusted so that she was hanging onto Jason’s back. ” How’d you get so fast anyway!? Whatcha been doing!? Do you know any games!?”
Brielle crossed her stubby arms, looking at the Quilava skeptically, “We’ve been through a lot together as a team, and we’ll get through this too. Don’t lump us in with wild Pokémon like yourself.” Her adopted Gligar sibling seemed to take an immediate fondness to Jason but it’d take more than a simple collar for her to trust him.
Adrian decided to enter the conversation in a neutral tone, offering neither distrust nor an apology to Jason. “It’s not like I have another option, Quilava. Pokémon like myself are either born into captivity or they die out. Where else would I go? Brielle and Sandstream refuse to leave, and it has been over a million years since Kabuto roamed the land and seas. Among Pokémon trainers, I run the chance of meeting another of my kind so I stay. For now.” He paused, muttering, “Even though we won’t be able to stay here much longer…”
Gaelan’s meanwhile resumed packing up the supplies now that things had settled down somewhat. “I hope you’re a fan of traveling, because we’re leaving to Hoenn and Kanto soon to get some supplies and intel on the legendaries. ,” he remarked to Jason. ” Ryuu… I understand that you’re not feeling well (understatement of a lifetime) but you are welcome to come with if you like.”
-
-Ryuu gave a smile as she watched the on goings. She liked the fact that they seemed to be getting along. She almost wanted to daze out but was asked a question. She smiled brightly behind the oxygen mask and said, “I would love to come, blowing off some of these blowhards could be fun.”
She started to do a head check and look at all the sizes and smiled more sincerely. “Everyone should fit in the car if you want to take it for a bit. Also, I have an oxygen filter built into the car.” She blushed a bit but let her Rocket Robust erase the blush quick.-
-
Looking down at the little Gligar, he smiled, saying, “To get that fast, you got to work really hard, every day, and be scared outta your mind.” Looking up at Gaelan, Jason says, “Hoenn, huh? Went there with a… ah, friend once.”
-
“Anyways, as Pokémon go, I’m not the worst to have on your side. I don’t use fire unless I am desperate, or if I’m trying to get a boost through somewhere. I know that most Weed-eaters are usually… ah, HOSTILE to Pokémon like me. So yeah. I seriously hope I can help, if that’s your priority.”
-
Brielle maintained her fierce gaze on Jason for a few heartbeats more before settling into a more relaxed stance, looking not wholly convinced but a little more welcoming. “Well as long as you don’t start burning the place down for kicks or something, I guess we can be alright, matchstick.” She shot him a sly smile that suggested she hadn’t and wouldn’t be letting the Weed-eater comment go. “You can tell us about your visit during the drive.”
Gaelan smiled, “Excellent! Let’s get ready to go then.” With the help of Brielle, Adrian and Sandstream, enough food for a week was stashed in the trunk of the car along with some extra clothes and camping gear. Finally the group was ready to go: Adrian sat by a window with Sandstream on his lap and Brielle in the middle leaving a space by the window for Jason. When the Pokémon were seated in the car, the trainer turned to Ryuu and said, “I hope you don’t mind, but I think I should drive. You look like you could use some rest,” as a nice way of saying that he was worried she’d start coughing up blood while driving and get even worse/accidently get them into an accident.
-
“Let’s get this trip started. Anyone ever been to Hoenn?” Jason jumped the seat left for him and settled himself down.
-
-Ryuu followed them, taking off her mask and the tank, turning it off, before getting into the car. She looked at Gealan and said, “The car has an automatic Oxygen converter built into it. I will be fine to drive unless you absolutely insist.” She gave him a small smile, a happy sort of smile while seeming rearing to go despite the earlier episode. She did have minor hints at weakness but she would not allow them to show forefront.-
-
“Ahh. A relaxing car ride to Hoenn, the most hostile place for fire types. I mean, think about it. Almost every Pokémon there has an advantage against fire-types in some way by now.”
-
Gaelan shrugged, “If you’re sure you’ll be alright,” he was worried about his ally but this was her car and since he actually had never owned a car before, it would probably be the best if she did drive. Yielding the driver’s seat he used the opportunity to lean over the back of the car seat and give Jason an exasperated look. “Now you’re just exaggerating. It could be much, much worse. At least we’re not headed to the Orange Islands.” A slightly malicious grin grew on his face as the car started up and pulled out of the True Heirs HQ. “Who knows, maybe we should go! Fire types like the sun, right?” <Gaelan ->General>
