Manticore nodded at Bell’uomo as he gave his farewells, and bowed back when he nodded his head. “Ciao, happy hunting.” With a soft glow of light, Carmen transformed back into her skateboard form, and a light sparked in the Arcobaleno’s eyes. She tossed the skateboard onto the ground, quickly flipping the board before landing on it. Her stubby little legs quickly kicked out at the ground beneath her, and the little infant upon the skateboard was off.

She decided to try grinding on the railing of the moving walkway since it wasn’t like any of these fools besides Bell’uomo would be able to do anything to stop her or even remember her presence long enough to notice. The board made not even the slightest squeak as she rode along the thin bar of the railing. A few pedestrians with baggage were walking down and startled at what they felt as a sudden draft as Manticore avoided hitting them by performing a misty flip off of the railing and landing on the moving walkway next to them. She used the people walking or patiently waiting to be pushed forward as obstacles and skated her way past all of them, unable to hide the wide smirk on her face.

She would reach the pick-up point in no time at this rate.

Bell’uomo watched as passengers exited the aircraft, all of them either irritated or focused. Only the children looked at all relaxed or an array of emotions. He could hear someone coming off the plane with a baby, the sound of its cry resonated with pain. He presumed its ears had popped and had hurt the poor thing. He sighed as he told himself to not go and examine it. He resumed watching the people as the farewell from Manticore repeated in his mind. He shook his head a bit to try to ignore the thought of just mindlessly hunting the fools who messed with him. He brought a hand up to his eyes and gently rubbed them with his middle finger and thumb, listening ever carefully.

He finally heard his ticket section called, he wasn’t in business class or first class as some call it. He had chosen to sit in the common class, leaving a seat for someone who needs it or was foolhardy enough to choose comfort over safety. He was about at the center of the plane, over looking the wing. He slid the briefcase under the seat in front of him and leaned back in the small seat, buckling in as he waited for everyone to load on and take their seats. A couple ended up sitting beside him, they seemed friendly but the male took one look at him and could have knocked over someone if a strong wind had came from his nose just by how fast it upturned.

Bell’uomo didn’t take the opportunity to speak to them, just granting a nod of hello. This granted him an abrasive response of, “Who the hell wears a suit on an airplane?”

The female nudged her mate but Bell’uomo decided to be on the upper end of the conversation and let his accent shine, “Just an Italian ambassador going to a meeting.”

The male snickered and said, “Don’t they pay you assholes enough to ride in first class all the time?”

His female begged him to stop but Bell’uomo decided to make him stop for her, “Why would someone ride in first class? Yes, it is more comfortable but in the case of emergencies, it is a highly inefficient place to be. The amount of space in the seats leaves room for concussive and skull crushing forces where here, the seats are tight enough that in a crash, you would mostly be able to get up and walk away from it. Now please, stop being rude to your flower and listen to her before I slap some manners into you.”

This enraged the male but he sat down and just took it. The female sighed in relief but seemed mad that Bell’uomo had said that to him and yet at the same time very satisfied. Bell’uomo sat waiting for the plane to move silently, hoping that no more fights or arguments would get picked with him.

Manticore finally managed to catch up with her contact just as the elderly, finely mustachioed man she was meant to meet with was shepherded towards a waiting limo by the illusion woman she had conjured up. The baby smirked devilishly to herself, she loved startling people and took malicious joy in the reactions of others. Manticore crept after them and with just a bit of speed she managed to take her seat in the backseat of the limo moments before the old man had finished entering the limo.

The driver made sure that the esteemed contact was settled in his plush seat and had all of his luggage cared for before shutting the door and starting up the engine of the car. When the limo began to pull away from the airport, Manticore allowed her illusion to fall away and flickered into view in a nearby seat.

“Ciao, Mr. Kim,” Manticore purred as she helped herself to some wine from the inside cooler of the limo, “feel free to help yourself to some of the wine or other drinks if you like. It’s a pleasure to meet face to face at last. I trust the flight was a pleasant one?”

The man gave a startled intake of breath at the sudden appearance of the strangely dressed two year old in front of him drinking alcohol of all things! He was about to scold her for sneaking into the limo and drinking when he recognized the young lady’s voice from their phone calls and correspondence. He hesitantly asked, “You…are the one who calls herself Manticore? My adviser warned me you had an unusual appearance, but…”

Manticore smirked at him and raised her glass in acknowledgement, “Indeed, I’m Manticore. You can now understand why I wished to discuss business with you in private. Please, don’t let my age distract you.” She took a sip of the wine, grateful that the curse at least hadn’t ruined her sense of taste and then placed the glass aside. This gave Mr. Kim a moment to gather his wits about him.

“Now,” she began after a while, “if I recall correctly, Starbucks Coffee Company and Costa Coffee have had quite the ompetition in Europe.” The businessman across from her nearly groaned at the vast understatement of her words but continued to listen quietly.

“Well, I have recently acquired Starbucks and I would be the first to admit that you have beaten us and rightly won your territory in the UK. I would have us put aside our past disagreements and rivalry and move to work together, like brothers in the same family.”

The man gaped at the tiny infant in front of him. One of his major competitors just giving in and withdrawing from their age old cut-throat competition just like that? It sounded too good to be true, so he asked in a hesitant and suspicious voice, “What would this entail?”

The smirk on the two year old’s face was devious and the temperature within the limo must have dropped a few degrees as a suffocating aura saturated with avarice engulfed the two business owners as she began to explain the exact terms of their agreement.

Bell’uomo sat patiently on the plane as it began to pull out and out to taxi. The couple beside him had gone silent and seemed to not want to stir up any more trouble with him. He sighed and relaxed in his seat. The plane took off without delay and took off into the air. He leaned his head back and pressed it against the pillow. This was going to be a long flight and he was going to enjoy it. He closed his eyes and liked the smooth flight they were having. He didn’t open his eyes for hours, he had fallen asleep but was still very aware.

Marco combed through his hair while staring at the roots of it in the mirror of the airport. {I should dye it again… The roots are showing.}, he thought, scrunching up his face in distaste. He brushed off his suit, shaking his head to clear his thoughts as he stepped out of the bathroom.

The redheaded Italian hurriedly strode through the crowded area of the airport with his briefcase in hand. He was running a bit late – though, if he hadn’t wasted time inspecting himself in the mirror, maybe he wouldn’t be – and he couldn’t afford it. He continued to push his way through the throng of equally busy people, not bothering to properly apologize to the ones he bumped into. A man even cursed in a language he didn’t know and shook his fist at him. At least he mumbled, “Mi scusi,” now and then and tried to keep his temper down.

At last, he made it onto the airplane. He exhaled heavily and sunk down in his seat after putting away his briefcase, closing his eyes and rubbing the bridge of his nose. He hoped the long flight would be enjoyable.

Bell’uomo had been asleep nearly his entire flight until he woke some time before descent. He stretched out but not by flailing his arms all over the place like most passengers, instead he rolled his shoulders and heard them pop. He then rolled his spine, hearing it click back into its proper alignment. Then he caught a glance at the male in the seat on the aisle, he was staring at him with an angry glare still. Bell’uomo wouldn’t let this bother him, you shouldn’t make a scene in front of a nice woman. He heard his hips and tailbone pop as he moved just a little bit, then settling back down into his seat. He heard the seat-belt sign pop on, he’d not taken his off. He heard the captain talk of their descent but it was all just words floating through the air to him. At least it was going to be sixty-two degrees when they landed. He wasn’t bothered by that. He just let the sounds of the landing plane whir through his head. He had distaste in their bumpy landing as they seemed to have bounced an unnecessary number of times.

Once it landed, he unbuckled his seat-belt and waited. He waited for everyone else to get off the plane first and then pulled his briefcase out and headed to retrieve his wolf. He got it from a special portion of the airport, toting the cage with him as he looked at the waiting people and limo drivers. He caught the eye of someone with his name walking up to the driver and placing his finger to his lips. They went silently to the car, the driver insisting he place the dog in the back of the stretch with Bell’uomo. For this, he let the large beast out of its cage. The dog sat next to its master patiently, them heading to the hotel he had arranged for first to drop off the pet then on to his meeting.

By the time the limo had reached its destination, the fanciest and most expensive hotel in Washington D.C, all of the agreements between the spokespeople of the two coffee tycoons had already been agreed upon. All that was left was for Mr. Kim to sign three sets of official paperwork printed out on lavender scented printer paper and then make the necessary phone calls. Before the elderly man could leave the limo, Mantiocre made sure to get all of the documentation properly squared away. She handed him a sleek ballpoint pen, and watched as the delegate of Costa Coffee signed his name in neat, evenly spaced letters. The Arcobaleno’s eyes never left the man’s slightly shaking hand as he skimmed through and signed each paper.

Once he was finished, Manticore looked it over and took two of the copies for herself, handing the delegate one copy of all of the paperwork back. “Well, everything seems to be in order then.” The tense atmosphere inside the limo lifted noticeably.”Have an excellent time here in America, Mr. Kim.” She flashed a toothy smile at him and the door to the limo clicked and sprung open, clearly indicating under no uncertain circumstances that their conversation was done.

Feeling slightly relieved to get away from the craziness, Mr. Kim hastened out of the limo. One of the hotel porters came over and helped the delegate with his luggage, and the two shuffled up the stairs to begin the check-in procedure. Manticore closed the door to the limo and with a nod of her head the driver continued on to the Mall. The pangolin familiar hidden during the negotiations crawled out from hiding and transformed into a cell phone. The Arcobaleno had some calls to make if she were to seriously take up the task of uncovering the culprit behind the Mortelupi assassination.

Out of seemingly nowhere, the toddler pulled out a small address book and began leafing through to look for the phone number she wanted. Delicately clicking a sequence of numbers, Manticore attempted to call one “Mercutio Mortelupi” for the first step of her investigation.

Leon was sitting at his desk as a male walked in and laid down a huge file he sighed “Damn Dyson I just got back from my vacation, can’t you guys handle these drug lords when im not around”. The male chuckled and walked out pointing at the Chief who which was tapping her fingers on the desk which he had learned years ago meant she was impatient for results. Leon got up and grabbed his leather coat before walking out and spinning a card track when told him who was doing what for the day which made it easy to see which officer was going to be joining him today.
Leon walked up to the desk of Officer Nelson a new guy to the force but it said he had a quick mind and voiced his view which Leon liked of his newbies. He spun the chair of the male and started pushing him towards the door when he heard the precinct laugh” oh no Walker has sank his fangs in another one”. Walked chuckled as he grabbed the guys vest throwing it into his hands before reaching in his desk grabbing his firearm and badge”Alright kid lets see if your able to run with the wolves”. He grabbed a coffee and a couple bagels before pushing the door open and the kid was on his heels running over to Leon’s personal cruiser opening the door for him. he got in but before the boy could close the door Leon looked up at him ” Remember this, there is a difference between helping out and kissing ass, we didn’t get anywhere in that building by kissing ass, do your job and you”ll go far”. Leon reached out and closed his own door before taking a sip of his coffee and reaching up in the visor and his keys fell into his lap along with his badge. He turned making sure the boy was in the car that he learned was named Chris”alright read that file on the guy were after a let me know what your take is”. Leon put his drink in the cup holder before hitting the gar leaving smoke from the cruiser flying faster then he should be.

They arrived at a high end hair salon where the suspect was last seen”keep back and don’t bring attention to yourself and i’ll let you question the next lead”. They walked in and two of the people went on rigid instantly which was always a good and bad sign when it was directed at the cops. It meant they were guilty but it could be relevant or it could be peddy crimes like a lollipop. He decided to ignore them for now and walked up to the woman with the book of reservations and asked her if she could look up “Rosiet Jarelson”. The woman didn’t look happy but didn’t look ready to argue with an officer as she found the person and gave him her information from the book which made this a lot easier. He was given information without asking for it which he guessed would get in her in trouble later as he would have needed a warrant to get this information. He decided to leave a twenty on the desk and walked out with the boy asking about the two women who were so rigid earlier which made Leon’s smile widen further”. He jumped in the car and the second Chris was also he hit the gas and they took off down the road like they were on high pursuit but once they got up about a mile and out of sight they turned down a side road and went down an alley. They sat there and waited to see if these women would lead them to something they didn’t already know but after and hour and a half of sitting there they pulled away and went to the address which turned out to be the home of a eighty year old gentlemen that was going senile.

They made there way back into down where they stopped at a Subway to get food sitting at a booth they went back over the pile and they decided the next best place to find a lead would be the woman’s ex which was easy enough to find and like he promised he let Chris interrogate the male which lead to the man telling them to get the fuck out and if they returned he would sue for being harassed. Chris walked away from the event like a kicked dog but Leon was laughing a little ” not sure asking him if he couldn’t satisfy his wife was a good move on your part but it got me to laugh so i’ll say you have me interested at least even if I might need to wait six months till your off desk duty for his fiasco”. Leon opened the kids door before his own seeing the sun was going to be going down soon he decided to head back to the precinct”if you haven’t hung yourself by morning i’ll be expecting you at 8 a.m. to keep on the hunt”. He dropped the kid off before shooting down the road where he went to a local bar walking in he got a roar from everyone in the parlor as he grew up with all of them”hey everyone, Mike ill take the normal at my stool”. He went to the bathroom before coming back out wiping his wet hands on his pants “need paper towels in there”. He walked over to the bar and picked up the bottle and touched it to his lips but he noticed something in the corner it was the woman from earlier at the hair salon. he walked over to her and waved but when she raised the gun and pointed it at him he grabbed its barrel and pointed it at the ground pulling it from her before anyone could see. He pushed her into the booth” explain yourself and maybe ill make this disappear”. She explained how she got fired and could no longer pay for her college classes and because of this her father was going to repo her car leaving her life to end in suicide at the hands of a cop shooting her in defense. He was happy he didn’t react how he wanted to, he had wanted to go for his gun and put her down like a wild animal but her eyes had spoken her pain so he couldn’t bring himself to do it. He told the girl she could stay with him for now until she found a place to get on her feet. He lead her to his cruiser putting her in the back just to be safe frisking her to make sure she didn’t have anything to harm him or herself all he found was a needle and what he expected was meth which made him look her arms over but there were no marks so either she was being creative or she never used it before. He still felt responsible for her losing her place so he would take care of this, he would just give her a more significant push towards finding something else. he took her to his place and cleared away the large mountain of files he kept in there revealing a bed. He climbed onto the couch turning on tv he lasted through one episode of the big bang before he passed out being awoken by there skittering from the bedroom to the restroom though he was surprised to see her in just a bra and underwear guessing a skirt and a skin tight shirt wasn’t comfortable sleep wear. He decided to let it go before closing his eyes once again, he left a letter for her on top of want ads with the letter reading” I ordered for lunch and dinner to be delivers here at 12:30 and 7:30 so you wont need to leave unless you find a place to go, my number in on the back of this card, only call me with good news”. He headed to work yawning wondering why he was so tired as if he didn’t get any sleep, what had he been dreaming about.

Bell’uomo felt the limo stop outside the hotel, stepping out of the limo and waving the driver to remain in his seat. His furry companion leaped out after him, the claws tapping on the sidewalk. Bell’uomo walked right in, heading to the hotel’s front desk and simply flashing his diplomatic ID. The clerk brought a bellhop to take him to his room but instead, he sent just his beloved pet with the man to settle in while he resigned back to the limousine. He sat down and checked the driver with a swift glance. It was the same so he shut the door and let him take off for the company.

“A volte mi sento troppo paranoico… (Sometimes I feel too paranoid.)” he muttered under his breath. He leaned his head back and watched the sky go by, his fingers tapping on the seat. He sighed and reached out for wine, this one did not appear to have any. He would much rather have taken it but it was a simple vice he would need to avoid before this meeting. He raised his head to look out the window, the gates of Universal Studios passing by as they headed to their executive offices. The glamour of the park was nothing without their droll offices and productions, let alone without the money of Comcast now.

Bell’uomo watched with eyes always aware on the streets around him. Unfamiliar territory that will be his. He saw the building coming up and smirked, two buildings next to one another and each were a target. Universal Studios and Xfinity. The limo stopped between the buildings and he stepped out, taking his briefcase and walking to the Universal Studios first. He stepped up to the building and paused, his breath exiting with his confidence in check. Stepping through the door, the wolf searched for his sheep, top floor.

-Leon pulled up to the precinct looking up the steps Chris was there waiting with two coffees and discussing the case with Leslie another officer but a couple years ahead of Chris. Leon honked the horn and Leslie waved with a laugh as Chris ran down the stairs opening the door carefully not to spill the coffee which he handed one to Leon who looked at sighing when he saw it was Starbucks a joint he normally didn’t go to as he liked the little cups that were brought in from Italy. He shrugged and hit the gas tasting it spitting it out the window the dropping it out the window before turning to Chris”buy me coffee again and it will be you getting thrown out the window”. Chris had this horrified look on his face. Leon decided to see if the culprits sister had any information so Leon flew down the road and into New Jersey not that he had any Jurisdiction here but it never hurt to ask questions.

They pulled in front of an apartment building and already he was getting looks from the locals who seemed to always have something to hide. He ignored being called a pig as he walked into the building catching the door luckily someone had been coming out so he didn’t need to get buzzed in which never worked. He climbed the nine flights of stairs as the elevator was out of service. He had decided to leave Chris locked in the car after yesterdays events with the ex. Leon knocked on nine zero nine and got an answer to go away so he knocked again this time a large male opened the door and Leon instantly smelled pot on this guy. Leon said calmly” im here to ask a few questions if Cara is available”. The woman walked forward she looked like she was strung out from lack of drugs which he guessed was the reason this guy was here. He gave something to her taking some money and ran away but not before Leon had opened his wallet which the idiot had left on the counter and got his name. He guessed the guy would be back for it soon. The woman poured herself a shot of rum and asked Leon what the fuck he wanted and why he came all the way to New Jersey when she had a phone. He answered her by stating he enjoyed seeing the look in someone’s eye when the answer the door and see him. She laughed and asked if this was about her sister which in turn he nodded. Cara stated she hadn’t seen her sister in a couple years as she had asked her sister for money and was quickly hung up on. Leon felt for the woman which reminded him of the chick back at his apartment which made him shiver something he didn’t dwell on. He handed the woman his card and left making his way back to his car but found Chris pointing his guy at a male who seemed to want the car and was planning to take it by force. Leon pulled out his gun and placed it on the male’s head and pushed him away from Chris telling the boy to radio to a local dispatch to send a car for this one. Leon saw a shadow standing on the other side of fence just ten feet away so he drew his other gun and when he spotted the gun when the guy came around the corned he shot the guys weapon knocking it from his hand and the male ran back around the corner and down an alley. Chris went to give chase but Leon told him to forget it and move on but Leon did walk over and grab the pistol seeing it was a Desert Eagle he wiped it off finding no serial number as he expected it had been sanded off.

He and Chris got in the cruiser and headed back to the precinct it was that late in the day but he was tired of running around like a dog chasing a bone for the time being. He assigned the case to another detective that was less busy and in less demand then himself but he would be kept on if any information was needed. He took the gun to ballistics to get examined but it came back negative for ever being shot meaning it was stolen and never used from a shop. Leon decided he could use one so he went to gun range and got it register with a new number that could be tracked to him if it was ever needed. He bough a gun holster vest so he could hold the heavier pistol along with buying a 45. revolver so that both sides of the vest would feel even and he wouldn’t be dragged down. He knew he didn’t need this much firepower working as a cop but he always felt more was needed in his line of work as every day criminals became more like soldiers. Leon drove to his house around seven thirty just in time to find the pizza man delivery the dinner he had order so he grabbed it and took it up to the apartment. He found a letter from the girl stating she had decided to move to Maine with her mother and had gotten a train ticket earlier that day but thanked him for the Chinese lunch he had ordered but she was allergic to the sauce on the orange chicken so it was in the fridge. Leon sighed as he turned on the tv opened the pizza and ate a slice before taking off his guns and going into the shower leaving the door open because he was alone like he always did. He heard a noise so he got out and looked to see if anyone was outside but it must have been an animal or one of his neighbors as he found nothing out of place. He got dressed in a pair of grey sweats and put on a Black Sabbath t-shirt. He grabbed another slice but noticed one was missing that he was sure he hadn’t eaten. He went to the door and opened it seeing a kid at the end of the hall who looked like he was eating something. Leon walked to the fridge got the orange chicken and rice put it outside the door then closed it and locked it. He then went to the couch to watch t.v. and think on where his life was going to but didn’t like the idea of doing this for the rest of his life.

Manticore waited a few moments on the cellphone until she reached only the voicemail of the young mafioso. She sighed before waiting for the sharp tone that signaled her to leave a message. Speaking in a voice slightly higher pitched then she would have liked and more than aware and frustrated with how the voice of a two year old must sound on the phone, Manticore began.

“Ciao, Mercutio,” the Arcobaleno made sure to speak in Italian first before repeating in English since she was unaware of how much English the mafia member was capable of speaking. “On behalf of your boss, I’m beginning an investigation on the incident last year and am interested in meeting with the remaining members of your Family. Please come find me at Starbucks if you’d be willing to answer a few questions. It shouldn’t take too long.”

The illusionist then clicked the off button of the cellphone, allowing it to transform back into her pangolin companion. She didn’t specify which Starbucks it would be since that fact didn’t matter. As soon as he entered one cafe, she’d be informed by her information network. With that out of the way, it was time for the next step in her plan: to actually begin the investigation.

“Well, Carmen?” The scaly mammal simply blinked and licked the young thief’s cheek. She laughed and then nodded in agreement. “Capital idea. ‘Never do anything yourself that others can do for you.'” She then made another call to an unspecified number.

Manticore feigned the gruff, urban accent of a middle-aged man. “This is Edward McHugh with the MPD Cold Case unit. You are the investigator who originally worked on the Mortelupi case, right? I’m gonna need the current case material you have on this.”

Once she had negotiated her way into getting the case file by imitating the voice of one of the local detectives in question, Manticore hung up the phone and then turned to her limo driver.

“Change of plans, I need to pick up a case file at the police HQ here, and then…drop me off at the nearest Starbucks.” The man nodded in agreement as he quickly switched on a left turning signal and moved the limo into the left lane.

It didn’t take too long or too many illusions to get the case file of the scant amount of evidence dug up on the actual assassination. There wasn’t nearly as much as Manticore would have liked, but it would have to do for now. Luckily, it wasn’t as if she would be the one to have to try and solve the case. It was time to get a detective and where else than the city with the biggest police force in the country? The time it took to travel north to New York would give the Arcobaleno some time to really look over the known facts of the case.

The sun had just begun to set when Manticore arrived in New York, and the onset of night heralded the need for another cup of coffee to try to keep her drowsiness at bay. Staying up late was hellish for such a young child like herself. The Arcobaleno had been muttering to herself for the past few hours at one of the Starbucks in the city about which detective to choose for her investigation. Eventually, she decided to simply head over to the precinct in disguise and try and get some more information about who might be the most susceptible to her manipulations and best suited to taking on an assassin from the Mafia.

Nearly as soon as she arrived there, not bothering with the odd stairs given to a young baby skateboarding down the street sidewalk, she noticed Carmen’s long nose start sniffing around and the skateboard began to roll in a different direction instead of transforming back into a pangolin. The thief simply raised an eyebrow before giving a kick and setting off towards whichever trail her familiar wished to follow. Carmen had a good sense for these things, and it was important for an Arcobaleno to trust their animal partner even if they didn’t always make sense sometimes.

The scaly little animal transformed back into a pangolin when Manticore arrived just outside the door of some apartment with an empty tray likely originating from some food takeout service. Deciding that breaking into the apartment would most likely get her shot and was a poor way to start off a relationship, the two year old leaped into the air with a surprising amount of mobility and gave a “Shave and a Haircut” knock on the door before landing on the ground and patiently waiting to see whether the occupant would open the door or was even home. -Leon was laying on his couch with his head resting on one arm of the couch and his feet resting on the other but when he heard the knock it woke him from a deep sleep so he wasn’t happy. He expected it was a kid playing ding dong ditch with no door bell. He walked over to his desk and grabbed one of his pistols slipping It behind his back held there by his pant he looked through the peep hole seeing no one he hit his head on the door and opened it hoping to be able to find the culprit but when he opened it he saw the little girl and her little animal. He instantly went for his phone to call 911 why he knelt down so they were close to eye level so he could hear her better if she were to speak” Little girl where are your parents, do you know the address where you live, who brought you here tonight and by what means did they bring you”. He couldn’t get through on his phone because it was filled by people calling in about a dog knocking over there trash and them thinking it was a prowler. He asked the little girl to sit on the couch while he kept trying to contact the authorities to get her on her way home.

He was worried about the animal with her as it was not a normal pet here in NY more likely to be found in the desert and if that was the case she was a long way from him for sure. He got glass of water for the little girl and sat it on the table in front of the girl. He then sat in a chair away from her so she wouldn’t feel he was being over baring of her space” can you tell me anything about your parents or where you have come from and how I may contact your parents or guardians”.-

Bell’uomo walked into the meeting room of executives on the top floor, he was expected and had an extra chair out for him. He proceeded to his seat and sat the briefcase on the table. The executives eyed him warily as he just sat in the meeting and listened. The man giving the presentation kept glancing at his eyes. Bell’uomo just leaned on the table, a single hand on his cheek with the knuckles placed against his flesh. He just smiled and listened on knowing that their top dog was going to let him speak up next. He just patiently waited for the end of the questions at the end of the company’s lead Film Pitcher before he looked to the head of Universal Studios. He was given a wave to stand before the company and explain his presence.
He raised from his seat and strode to the front of the room with confidence. He turned and stood before the company and peered back at the charts and graphs behind him. He smirked and looked back at his targets, the sheep before him. He could tell by their quivering looks, they knew they were not as demanding as presence as he was. He took a deep breath and spoke in a commanding voice, “I am sure you are wondering why this stranger standing before you was invited to come speak. Your questions will be answered shortly as I tell you all why I have been offered to share my insight.” He walked over to the graph the film pitcher had been pointing at. He pointed at it and said, “This is highly ineffective.”
“What do you mean?” The man stood, slamming his hands on the table.
“You interrupted,” Bell’uomo’s eyes narrowed on the company’s employee, glaring as he returned to sitting. Bell’uomo pointed at it again and said, “You are wasting your company’s money on paper, which can be put to much better use. Also, the plot of your movie is as dry as a bone that’s been gnawed on for eight years. People want something different and something updated. You are a large and powerful company and yet you are locked in the stone age.” He walked to another’s chart and pointed at it and said, “Demographics for the year, hmn? The chart looks a bit upside-down to me.” A man at the table stood but was pulled down by the head of the company. Bell’uomo chuckled then spoke without amusement, “From what it seems, the idea well is getting dried up and these profits you are predicting? They will plummet.” He shrugged. “Sure people love remakes but what makes them spicy?” Then he pointed at another chart gauging the success predicted from the Fast and Furious franchise. “That is accurate. But again, paper, highly ineffective.” He stood back in the center and said, “I am here to convince your beloved company owner that I could, in fact, do it one step better. I believe I have proven that if I am placed in, your advancements would be phenomenal. I am willing to offer ten million for the entire company and give the previous executive a continuing forty percent cut of the profits.” He stared right back at the company owner, “What do you say?”
The owner of Universal Studios thought for a moment and said, “Impressive. No deal.”
Bell’uomo smirked and said, “That’s fine. I need to head next door anyways.”
“To Comcast?” One of the men spoke up.
“Yes,” Bell’uomo smirked and eyed up the one willing to strike up. “I have a greater offer for them and I know they won’t refuse.”
The men began to chatter, they knew they had to pay Comcast just to keep their name on their own parks. They felt that this man before them was willing to get money from them one way or another. The owner crunched his fist and said, “And what will you be offering them?”
“Full ownership, to keep running as they are and I take fifty percent of the profit,” Bell’uomo folded his arms across his chest. “Oh, and a say on what goes on but what is secret ownership without showing some support.”
The company owner grunted a bit then caved. “If you give us that offer, we will gladly go under your ownership.”
Bell’uomo smirked and walked back to where he had sat, opening his briefcase and taking out the money he had promised before and a contract. He pointed where to sign and once the etching of the pen was done, he placed the contract into his case and nodded his head. “Thank you for the reconsideration. I hope you all have a pleasant day.” He walked out and noted that the limo was still there. He smirked and climbed into the back, “To the hotel, I will get the other company tomorrow.”
The driver took him to the hotel, Bell’uomo getting out and taking his briefcase with him. When he got to the room, he saw his wolf had already gotten room service for itself and eaten. Bell’uomo smirked and pet him on the head. “How did you manage that one?” The response he got was a lick on the face. This made him smile and he placed the briefcase into the safe in the room. He ordered room service for himself, deciding to stay in. He got onto the bed and instantly his furry companion got up and laid himself on his owner’s lap. This only made him smile to be trapped under his only true friend.

The morning was dark yet she saw just fine in the city that never sleeps this made things easy for her and she hummed. Her blond hair blowing behind her as her orange top clung to her and was a slight contrast to her olive green shorts. Her black army boots thudded against the ground she had two batons hanging from her waist and two more strapped to her forearms. Her green eyes danced her goggles resting on her head reflecting light off of them as she passed under the street lights. She was heading for her apartment. The city smelled sickening tonight or maybe it was just her after the privet lesion she had been given from her sensei. They woman had worked her over hard and had not been kind. She pulled her tablet out from her side pouch and tapped it as she brought up her bank and frowned. “Fourty bucks really looks like it’s that time again.” She sighed and tapped the power button killing the screen and slipped it back into her pouch and kept walking. Stopping at an ATM that was in a seven eleven she pulled out a wallet with a credit card under a false name and slipped it in and checked the balance and sighed. “Yep I’m broke.” She then walked out waving at the attendant and a group of men were standing across the street talking one even pointed to her and they started to talk again. With a sigh she shook her head and continued to walk down the street not running and not moving quickly just letting the world work its magic. Hearing the steps coming up behind her she sighed. “Look guys this isn’t a good idea I have had a hard night and don’t need a hard time from you guys.” Turning a young boy was standing behind her and she blinked and just smiled at him and pulled out a 5 she had on her and gave to him then started back on her way one and turned down the alley to her apartment. She kicked off one wall and grabbed the ladder to the fire escape and pulled herself up and then started up the fire escape and stopped at her window pulling a magnet out and shifted it near the window lock tell she heard the click and lifted her window slipping in and pulled the window closed and locked it then pulled the blinds and switched on her computers flopping down with a huff. “Has it really been that long or am I just spending more than normal?”

She clicked onto the internet and started to flip through her accounts and running the bank statements through an analysis program and while waiting on that slid over to a laptop and started to hit key commands watching various data streams come up. Looking over the IP’s she found the Chase bank system and then filtered it through serval 512bit encryption protocols then started to select various personal accounts and savings accounts avoiding high risk targets but ones with enough money to not be noticed but not enough money to raise suspicion. She then set it to extract 5 from every account and had it send them off to various overseas accounts this would take a few days to process it all out and launder it back into her bank account but she would be fine tell then and leaned back stretching. “Ugh what a day maybe tomorrow will be better not so run of the mill.”

Manticore had to hide back the smirk threatening to creep up upon her face as she was guided over towards the couch. She had forgotten how fun and naive the majority of the populace was. Still, the detective seemed to be a decent sort of man. His initial reaction seemed to be of genuine concern for how a two year old girl found herself abandoned on the streets. The glass of water was also a nice touch, although it went untouched since she made a point of not drinking or eating anything offered by strangers. It seemed like this was the man for the job after all.

In response to Leon’s questions, the Arcobaleno responded with a serious and brisk yet somehow formal tone while she sat on the couch with her hands politely folded in her lap. The temptation to feed the detective a believable lie was difficult to quell, but instead she opted for the truth. “Thank you for the water. I am Manticore, the expert jewelry thief! Now, to answer your questions in order: my parents are dead, I have hideouts all over the United States, and my animal partner Carmen brought me to your door using a skateboard.”

She took a breath and then continued, twisting slightly to produce a manilla folder filled with paper, forms and documentation and hold it out in front of her. “The reason I am here is to hire you to catch an assassin from a case a year ago that’s gone cold.” She placed the file on the table and slid it towards the detective. She took the opportunity to give Leon a once-over. “I’ll need to teach you how to fight of course, so you’re properly prepared for a real fight but I have a good feeling about you. You may name your price.”
