After the Death of the second King of Pirates, the balance was overturned and Marines took over the seas. The Yonkou were all destroyed and once the Shichibukai had performed their use, were executed as well. Once the powers were out of their way, they seized full controls of the ocean and slaughtered all those who would commit crimes on the sea for fear of a new coming. Fleet Admiral Nomikomu will see to it that Pirates are erased from existence.
The RolePlay

-Axel growled at there warnings of him turning back until he heard the human was trying to follow him so he swam fast back to the man grabbing him by the back of his robes and drug him back to land before throwing onto the beach” do you have a death wish, Mute, I don’t care about killing myself but I cant have your blood on my hand, you sand you seek freedom and peace, these can only be gained by that bastards death and you can’t appreciate these things if your dead. Axel sat down and roared loudly “If your going to be joining me then we will need a ship and you need good equipment to survive In the grand line, if these can be gained here then lets do this as we need to get out of the east blue as fast as possible as these islands will be searched first along with with the other blues”. Axels reached out to help this man up” if you run with me then you will take the name pirate and never hide from this day forward, You will be marked as I have as a member of the Sea devils, this mark will give you passage ever you travel to the lands of the fishmen”. He waited for the man to take his hand to see if he would accept these terms.-
-
As she walked towards the ship she smiled to her first mate who said they where ready and nodded walking up onto the deck and behind the helm.”We are going to breifly head away from the Grand Line…”If we want the fleet admiral that is where we are going to want to get him is there.” she said holding the helm and smiled. “Lets set sail and head an island back in the mean time we will rebuild the flags on this ship we will not fly as marines for long.” She already had an idea for her sails and flag. She felt the ship move out of port and she looked back and waved to the town then turned back with a determend look on her face and turned away from the grand line heading back towards an island needing to make a stop there. She looked over her crew and sighed she needed to remember they are people she was no tyrant. Looking to the other crewmen that was a helmsmen and nodded handing the wheel over and walked down and into the captains quarters seeing all of his stuff. She took a deep breath. “I will pack all this up” She found a blank spot on the desk and gently pulled the snail out and set it on the desk and looked to it and smiled and gently stroked the shell to wake it up. Smiling at the snail she grinned. “Would you unmute for me for a second?” she was being nice to it and sat at the desk and started to look through the papers there and through what he had inadvertently left behind. “Captain you will not have been murdered for nothing and i will see justice done.” she said without thinking she had asked the snail to unmute.
-
The swordsman saw the sudden turn and then speed up of the magnificent predator moments before he was grabbed and drug back onto the sand soaking wet. He wanted to speak but the sharp-toothed being before him spoke first and he took in his words and let them each sink into his mind. The mute confused him but he figured it was for the snail thing he had with him. The asking of if he had a death wish was a question he couldn’t have answered, at least not accurately anyways with either a yes or no. The kind beast did say he did not want his blood on his hands but it wouldn’t be. He was coming of his own free will and was much looking forward to spend his time with this magnificent creature. The roar startled him out of his deepest thoughts and yet gave him excitement. He listened as he said what they would need if they were to set out together and saw his hand extended to him. He stared at it a moment and looked up at this creature as the realization of him becoming a pirate to follow this proud being was now more than clear. “Sir,” He spoke clearly as salty water dripped from his being with an arm outstretched to grasp the wrist and feel the flesh. His excitement from touch was all the more clear in his damp state and not helping that his voice would crack, “I know where to get these things. But my blade needs no upgrade. This is what I have always trained with. As for um, other equipment… I know where also to get it here. And supplies.” He just kept staring at Axel with a sort of death grip on his wrist.

The crew tended to their duties and went about not bothering her once she was in the cabin. The snail unmuted when she had asked and all those in the circle would hear her. When she said what she did, a voice came through of one of Mako’s crewmembers, a very deep and heavy voice, “Your captain… Was he the one just executed…? If so… I could tell you much more about him than you would ever know…”
The others remained silent as it seemed this member had patched a direct line to her so they couldn’t hear.
-
As she was going through the files and organizing everything to be packed up and seeing what was of any use she heard the words and her head jerked to the snail and then sighed realizing that she had asked it to unmute. She stared at it for a moment debating on how to answer and then spoke clearly. “Yes Yalbagoth is my captain and I now sail his ship in his honor and will do everything I can to kill that scumbag for murdering a good man I will not stop tell that man is dead. Even the one piece can wait tell that task is done.” She stated his death had hit her hard. He had been like a father harder than most but he had taken care of her. “I have already killed one for attempting to kill him now I will kill the one that took his life. Please anything you can share about him his allies’, friends, and supporters, anything you wish I would like to know.” She almost sounded like she was about to cry her voice cracked as she went back to cleaning the office and cabin going through the paperwork and things he had stored here taking inventory and finding what needed to be stored away and what she needed to keep of it. She followed up with one last statement. “We are unchained now though free of the binding of the marines.”
-
As he waited for her ranting to stop, the deep sounds of the megalodon’s breath as she spoke. Every now and again she’d hear a low growl to his breathing as she went on. He finally found his chance to speak and said, “He and I were raised together. He was a little brother to me that I tried to kill on occasion.” She wouldn’t see it but he would shrug, “The mermaid taking care of us thought it was just a boy shark thing. We were close.” His voice never wavered from sounding like a fierce predator. “We both were pirates but he didn’t take to the life, but understood not all pirates were bad and despite joining the marines, he saw pirates as a necessity.” He continued, “He saw the good and bad in people and would help good people… He always wrote to me even when we’ve clashed a couple of times. I am stronger but I never killed him, just left him a little mauled and always made sure he got help. He said he loved the town he was in, so quiet. When I would visit it wouldn’t be quiet but when that bastard took over the marines…” His voice grew darker. “We had to stop all contact… To see him again after all these years like that? It’s disgraceful… I should have been able to see him on better terms. Now the closest thing I have to him being back is just those repeated torturing images in my mind… Take care of his personal items or I will personally take you out…” He turned off his private line and let it back onto the public party line, which seemed to be wired with whispered activity.

-Axel would wave him on to lead where the supplies that was need could be found. He pulled out a sheet of paper he had found and began placing markers of where his treasure could be found. He then stuck this in a hole where three rocked stacked up and looked like a jolly roger skull. He then caught up with the swordsmen as he began to list off things they would need and it was at this point he showed the swordsmen his catch of berries showing he had all the money they would need a for a while. He hoped everything could be found here as he felt like something would soon change this world. Axel sighed and would help carry everything so that the swordsmen could direct them to the next location. He looked to the swordsmen” you wouldn’t happen to have a gun smith on this island would you, as I would like a long range rifle so I can begin becoming accustom to a weapon if not I will try and find a sword since I imagine you have many of them on the island of Zoro”. He let it slip that he knew this islands legend” I would like to visit the school where he learned his craft to pay my respects to the decedents of the first mate of the straw hats”. Axel enjoyed that no one here seemed to look down on him, he guessed it was more common here to show compassion to others compared to his last location. He was hoping to find a weapon that would suit his size and strength. He would learn to adjust it to his fishman karate so that he could fight at a range and up close. He would wait till they had done everything before turning to the swordsmen” this may be the last you see of this place you have called home, remember it for this should be your final thoughts when you pass from this world to the next”. Axel would load up all of the supplies as he let that sink into his new ally as he finally ripped off the remnants of the black shirt he had been wearing and allowed his sun pirates crest to shine brightly. He wasn’t sure how long he waited for the man to pay his final wishes to his home but he would wait however long it took as he had stopped at the gate looking back on fishmen island knowing he would probably never see it again.-
-
The swordsman had lead him to first to get a boat. What could be paid for was at the docks and it would need three to pilot it properly but it was explained two could do it and in the end, the ship could hold ten. He took him from shop to shop getting supplies and then took him to the preserved school. They had a class going on and the swordsman explained to this teacher that he would no longer be here and was leaving with the nice shark. He would then take him to a weapons shop though they didn’t have much variety beyond daggers, swords, and pistols. When told that he should take on to remember his home, he remembered that this wasn’t his true home but it was where he was safe. He followed the shark immediately and saw the mark, smiling but now he wanted to touch it and see how tattoos felt on that divine sandpaper flesh. He said to him, “This wasn’t my first home… But I will remember this beyond death as it was the place that granted me solace from my past. We may leave on your order, godly being of predators.”

When the seaman apprentice apologized, Carina hastened to reassure him that she wasn’t upset that he didn’t know her name. ‘Oh, no it’s fine! You don’t need to be sorry, I still have to learn everybody’s name as well!” His words about Admiral’s Cancer admiration of Devil Fruit powers explained why he and everybody aboard the ship had been so nice to her. It was surprising and a little disconcerting to be called an ‘amazing asset that should be cherished’, and she was sure that her flattered embarrassment showed on her face. The kindness would take some getting used to.
The marine’s request was surprising as well, and her eyes widened as she became slightly flustered. Didn’t he realize she was sick? Was he so bored or so interested that he would be willing to sit and chat with a queasy girl holing up in her room and barfing out a lung instead of out embracing the fresh air?
“What? You really don’t have to come in, I mean if you want to that’s fine but I might not be great company…”
Of course then his real motive came out. He had clearly heard the stories and wanted to hear first-hand. News really did travel fast, and Carina wondered what explanation the crew had been given for her sudden transferal. She was about to answer when the admiral’s bellows could be heard. The fleet admiral was ready to make a public announcement! The seaman apprentice with her promptly barged in and revealed that her room had a built-in television! How cool was that!? She settled over onto the edge of her bed and rested the bucket on her lap since she felt another wave of discomfort coming.
At first, the seagull symbol of the marines showed clear as day before the feed got hacked. Carina sat up a bit straighter in surprise when a pirate appeared, battle-worn but still hearty on the television instead of the Fleet Admiral. When the captain of the pirate crew announced that the legendary treasure, One Piece, was still out and up for grabs, Carina gasped with shock at the implications. This man…is trying to start another age of piracy! This is history in the making, but there can’t be any other pirates stupid enough to come out of hiding, right? Sure enough, the neo-Whitebeard pirate crew all introduced themselves boldly and without fear, a menagerie of misfits and quirky looking pirates.
He challenged the Fleet Admiral, he challenged the marines and he challenged every single pirate out there, demanding to live life free of the order previously ruling the land. More and more pirates vocalized their support of the race to the grand treasure while Carina just helplessly watched, feeling another wave of nausea pass over. She hunched over the bucket and retched as quietly as she could while captains from all sorts of crews accepted the man’s challenge.
Carina lifted her head slightly at the sound of Buggy’s voice. So even the older pirates were going to be a part of this madness too? Then she realized that she recognized the man’s voice, it was the same as the kind old fisherman she had talked to earlier! No way though, he had marine registration papers and was best friends with the Rear Admiral….who used to be a pirate…His name even spells out Buggy! How could I be so stupid!? ‘ “AH! It’s HIM!” She shouted with surprise, grateful that she had been holding the bucket tightly enough so it wouldn’t spill.
Then the name of Mihawk was brought up, causing the young officer to fall silent and grit her teeth and clench her grip on the bucket angrily. She had heard of this man. He, like Buggy had been one of the Shichibukai back in the day, before the Fleet Admiral had decided that the marines no longer needed to work with dubiously loyal privateers. One of the many pirate fleets he had sent to the bottom of the sea was her father’s. It was only business, part of the natural pirate food-chain and Mihawk’s attack was what the Shichibukai had been expected to do. Mihawk had proven his strength and his power and influence demanded respect, but nothing would make her like the man. It’s a shame the Fleet Admiral wasn’t able to get him too when he took out the Shichibukai.
Then, the pirate transmission was over with a challenge to the Fleet Admiral who didn’t hesitate to respond. The man looked like a violent devil of rage as he revealed a tied and bound up fishman in poor condition. Carina gasped when she revealed that the figure was a traitorous captain. It was clear that the Fleet Admiral had no qualms about striking prisoners as he pummeled the former marine officer for answers.
Carina took in a sharp breath when Yalbagoth protested, “I didn’t know!” Hadn’t she helped a pirate unknowingly as well? It wasn’t fair to give capital punishment for a misunderstanding or a screw-up, and even the best of marines could make mistakes. Nomikomu’s response wasn’t encouraging, as Carina knew first-hand how misleading appearances and behavior could be. What about Captain Bedros? What of Rear Admiral Jango? By that logic, shouldn’t the whole base by Reverse Mountain get punished for letting an ex-pirate be in command for so long? Her blood was running cold as the man began to torture Yalbagoth for what she deemed to be a minor crime. She winced at the insults the fishman was hurling at the Fleet Admiral since there was no no possible way for the captain to persuade himself out of that situation, regardless of his innocence.
Then the tortured prisoner began to admit that he had helped Truble, the pirate who had just previously hacked the radio. With his insults, the fishman began to reveal that regardless of whether he had purposefully helped the pirates or not, he was most assuredly a pirate sympathizer. Nomikomu’s vicious torture continued as he began to rip teeth out and slice the fishman’s dorsal fin off in retribution for the treasonous comments. The Fleet Admiral was a sadist, Carina realized to herself.
Also, the examples of the prisoner’s treachery felt like they were really scraping the barrel to Carina. Hadn’t he done anything… recent? Then, Nomikomu revealed the bright red tattoo wrapped around his upper leg. That was unmistakable proof, the captain had most assuredly been a pirate at one point in his life. Despite all of the pained noises, Carina let out soft breath. For a moment, she had been worried that the Fleet Admiral actually didn’t have any proof of traitorous behavior besides the captain’s sympathy for pirates. The sigh turned into another bout of nausea which soon subsided again. Howls and screeches of pain before the former captain offered what had to be the worst excuse in the history of the world. No one would believe a story that dumb. Who gets themselves that hurt over a dog!? He could have at least come up with a better lie. The insultingly poor lie enraged Nomikomu even more. Yalbagoth was allowed his final words, a plea to pirates to be free before the Fleet Admiral evidently changed his mind and taped his gills shut before tossing the guy into the sea, now burdened with the gifts and curse of a fruit user. The apple transformed into a devil fruit to Carina’s astonishment, a clear indication that the man had passed away.
I’m glad he’s on our side, she thought to herself, but still felt on edge and ill at ease. One last burst of toxic sludge into the bucket and a few dry heaves left the container almost filled with a poisonous slurry. She was feeling much better though, as if she had finally gotten out the last of the foreign toxicants.
With one last menacing statement, the Fleet Admiral ended the broadcast. Carina turned to the seaman apprentice sitting in her office chair. Exactly what did one say after two broadcasts like those?
“I’m glad I’m not a pirate,” she spoke after a moment to break the stunned silence. The Fleet Admiral was terrifying to her and she was a loyal marine! The message was meant to be intimidating, and it was a good sign the marine command hadn’t backed down or been fazed by the pirates’ message, but she was still grateful to not be in close proximity to the sadistic man. “But wow… the pirates have just declared war! Pirates will be crawling out of the woodwork everywhere!” Carina spoke as the full brunt of what had just happened became more real.
“It’s a new age of piracy!”
-
The apprentice that had barged in with her was just as stunned when the pirate appeared on the screen. He was a bit appalled as well but had a respect. He was frightened when he started to hear the voices of so many accepting the challenge of finding the One Piece again. Then he was distracted by his vomiting warden and watched her for a moment. He felt comforted once she looked alright again. He jumped a bit when she announced that she knew the one voice. He wanted to ask but then he thought he could get his answer later, sitting patiently while watching. He kept peeking over and watching her carefully though, making sure his superior was alright. He glanced again when he heard her take in a sharp breath. He just assumed she might have known something and resumed watching, sad eyes as he watched the captain be pummeled and tortured.
Eventually, the apprentice couldn’t take the sight of the torture as his face went pale and he turned away from the television. He placed his arms over the back of the chair and seemed to be shaking a bit. He was terrified. He looked back only after the rest was over and looked at the warden. When she announced that it was a new age in piracy, the young man’s face paled again. “But,” He stated to her, “With the pirates in hiding, our job was so easy… We’re not ready I don’t think. I mean…” He stumbled a bit and took a breath to think. “You may be ready… You have a fruit and the ones we saw have fruits so you can at least fight them…” He sounded a bit terrified. “Sorry I um… He’s persuasive and I am certainly glad I am not a pirate but did he… um… really have to go that far to make a point?”
He was clearly shuddering and a bit scared though he tried to redirect his attention to her bucket and said, “I can take that out for you! Oh and I still would like to know… Were you that brutal to your pirate that you killed?” He was on edge and forgot the bucket again. He really wanted to know how she felt about it went on from her perspective.

-Axel followed the male from area to area doing the shopping making sure the swordsmen didn’t have to buy anything he was passive about the supplies and the ship until they reached the male’s school. He sat down all of the supplies before he bowed to the sensei not even trying to hide the sun that was on his chest” I shall take care of your swordsmen as Luffy did for Zoro, I know of this islands Champion and I wish to pay my respects to a shrine of him if you have one”. If he was shown to to a shrine of Zoro he would bow to it and whisper a prayer for his spirit to pass peacefully as his legacy shall pass onto the warrior that now served as Axel’s swordsmen. He was kneeling there for maybe an hour before he rose up nodding his head to the seisei” when next you see us, this world will be free of the tyrant that rules over us”. Axel picked up the supplies and followed him to the blacksmith and with a brow raised he looked to basic gear out front but he smirked as he sat down the supplies walking right up to the blacksmith before pulling out five hundred thousand berries and laid them down” this just change compared to whats in my cache of money so show me the real gear in the back and you will be able to eat like a god for months with all I plan to buy”.He followed the man into the back spotting the massive sword first made him almost want to cry as he lifted it up it was a rigid sword made of steel with a blue plated finish that was rigid instead of strait like a normal sword it looked more like a centipede with its many legs flowing out and it ended in two massive points. He looked the blade over and over amazed by its craftsmen ship” I will take this sword, what else do you have to offer me”. He held up the other massive sword and found a nice long range rifle and enough ammo to practice and use effectively. He would brandish his arm to the swordsmen”I understand your sword is all you need, but maybe armor would do you good if there is anything here that fits your style”. He waited for him to search the supplies if he found anything he wanted. he then helped carry everything to the boat and they would head out to sea” you need to work on this predator thing as your starting to scare me a little”.-
-
The sensei of the dojo smiled that this shark fishman was willing to take care of his student and said, “It will be an honor, just do not ever get ambushed…” He would show him to a shrine hidden behind a wall and allow him to pay his respects. The student stood outside, he had paid his respects many times. He took the time to focus himself. Then when Axel came out and spoke to the sensei, he bowed his head to him and said, “I will wish you the best and pray for you.” The student followed him to the blacksmith and he watched and walked with Axel.
When he was asked to get armor for himself, he decided to take a quick look. He did grab a few of the lighter and smaller arm guards just so he could block more efficiently if he so needed. This was when he placed them on under his outfit then followed him onto the ship. He sighed when he was told that he needed to work on his predator obsession. “I just admire creatures that are higher on the predatory ladder,” He explained, “I always looked at it as if there was normal fish, then human, then special humans, then at the top were your kind and among you the sharks the greatest of predators and I aspire to your kind. I am sorry if it comes across as perverse or frightening. Also… Thank you for giving me a new purpose.” He helped get everything ready to sail and helped when it needed steered.

After the announcement, it was clear that the seaman apprentice beside her was strongly shook up from the ruthless torture and bloodshed handed down by their Fleet Admiral. Carina had to admit that his cruel behavior was more something she would have expected from a pirate captain than the quick, clean justice of a marine officer. But, she would never admit this out loud of course.
She listened to his words as he admitted that he wasn’t ready to fight such big-name pirates and doubted the high command of the Marines. The poor guy was shuddering and terrified just at the thought of having to face the pirates. Back at the base, she would have snapped at him for showing such blatant cowardice in the face of duty. Here on this ship and after all that had happened she was now his superior and he, her subordinate. With the perks of leadership also came responsibility and duty, and one of the more important duties of a marine was to take care of and watch out for their subordinates.
He might have been more experienced on the ship and even older, but Carina still felt protective towards the young apprentice who had done his best to take care of her and worked hard just like she had back on the marine base.
“I just got on the ship so I don’t know how ready you currently are to fight,’ Carina began slowly but carefully and thoughtfully. “But after this announcement, we’ll get ready. And don’t worry, it’s not like we’ll be charging into the fray to fight one on one with the Shichibukai.” She continued, keeping her voice steady to try and reassure him, “After that announcement, any wannabe with a boat and a greedy heart will be out kidnapping people for a crew and calling themselves a pirate. There will be other, weaker pirates for us to fight and grow strong on. Us, as in the entire crew fighting together, not just you on your lonesome. ….Also, you don’t have to kill a pirate like the Fleet Admiral does. He scares me, but that stays between us. ”
Carina placed the bucket aside, on the floor, and made a brief glance to check that her hands and clothes were clean before giving the apprentice beside her a firm pat on the shoulder.
“There will be plenty of drills and training and more drills. If even after all of that, you’re still nervous I would be happy to spend my spare time sparring with you.” Her weapon skills weren’t anything spectacular to speak of, so the additional practice would serve both of them well and hopefully give the apprentice an ego boost. “And remember, they may have a Devil Fruit but we’re at sea. Sink a fruit user’s ship, push them into the water and they’re helpless. Just keep a calm head, and don’t give up. You’ll be fine. ”
When he looked at her bucket, Carina was about to refuse when he asked again about her fight with Jango. “Oh, you don’t have to. I’m feeling much better, so I can do it myself.” She didn’t want to get into the habit of having others clean up after herself, and if he accidentally spilled the poison on himself it could be pretty unpleasant. Luckily, he seemed too on edge to remember the bucket. It was almost as if he was wondering if fighting pirates was always so brutal. She didn’t want to avoid the question a second time and give him the wrong impression.
” About Jango, if you really want to know then I’ll tell you,” Carina began and took a breath to clear her thoughts before carrying on. “The man had no Devil Fruit powers, but he was strong and fast and had the weirdest weapon I’d ever seen. Honestly, the Rear Admiral was toying with me at every step, despite my powers. Even with just a shovel, he was still fearsome and used every aspect of our surroundings to his advantage. He died because he got overconfident and I used cheap tricks and foul play. ” Why did he think he would be able to continue his life as a Rear Admiral with a piratical history?
“It’s good to be strong and powerful, but everybody makes mistakes or has a weakness and it’s important to be able to use those to your advantage. I’m not going to lie and say he died as cleanly as I would have liked , but… it wasn’t that bad. I fought with Jango and killed him. The Rear Admiral tortured and mutilated that captain before killing him. There’s a difference.”
She moved over and picked up the bucket, “So where should I go dump this out? Over the side, right? And I never got your name… How did you end up on this ship? “
-
The frightened male listened and took her helpful words to heart as she attempted her best to help him. He liked the solace that he was given in that he will not be fighting alone. He gave her a smile though he was still shaking. Despite her abilities and not really noticing the check she had done on herself, he didn’t seem nervous about being pat on the shoulder. He seemed to actually shake less after that. Then she explained the basics of how to kill a fruit user. He took that knowledge to his head more firmly than when he had ever heard it from anyone else. He felt that if anyone would know how to kill a devil fruit recipient it would be one who has such power themselves, no matter how diverse the abilities may be.
He was a bit confused that she wanted to take the bucket herself and then he remembered, oh yeah, she had a poison fruit. He was a bit glad she wanted to take it but it was his duty to help her. Such conflict in an eager mind. When he was finally told about how she defeated the Rear Admiral, he smiled and clapped his hands, thoroughly impressed. He understood what she said and then she asked where the bucket should be dumped and about him. No one ever wanted to know personal details. “Oh yeah just over the side,” He stood up to start showing her to where she should and continued, “My name is Fredjamin Alexilliam. I ended up here because I have no land legs and the admiral saw that and took me to sail with him.” He thought and then said, “Between you and me, I was also the laughing stock of my base.”
He got sad when he thought of his original base and his smile was lost. He looked at her more seriously and said, “Just cause of my name and part of it sounded like a pirate name so one of them stabbed me in the arm with a dagger to… well… mark me.” He pulled up his sleeve and showed the scar. “Told the admiral about it when he took me under and he said it would never happen again.” He then smiled again as he let his sleeve down, “I am hemophobic and that didn’t help but I think I have a good chance here and now you’re my upper and you’re awesome and you can help me.” He smiled and almost fell off the side of the ship walking but the rail stopped him. “Ooof!” He sighed and said, “Oh and almost everyone here has something about them. But you are the most unique yet!” He pointed at the water for the bucket and yet kept trying to yammer on. “I could help you meet nearly everyone, I am sure you already kinda met the admiral. He’s a really cool guy.” He just couldn’t shut up now that he wasn’t watching blood and torture. He was enjoying himself again though he did bend over the edge and vomit a bit, something he’d held in from earlier and couldn’t hold anymore. Then he wiped his mouth off and said, “So… How about a more in depth tour?”
-
It seemed as if her words had helped calm the apprentice at least a little bit, since he even attempted a shaky smile. Carina took heart in how his attention seemed to focus more sharply when she explained the major, universal weakness of fruit users. That was good, with any luck he’d remember what she said when the time came. It was a bit strange explaining and exposing her own weakness to the other marine, but she decided that it was for the best. The information would come in handy if he ever ended up fighting a fruit user, and if she ever fell off the side of the ship into the ocean then he would know to give her help instead of waiting for her to swim back to the surface.
He seemed to cheer up even more though once she told him that she hadn’t tortured the rear admiral during her fight. She followed him out to where she should dispose of the toxic waste, listening to his story as he gave it. Her eyes narrowed slightly when he mentioned that he was also the laughing stock of his base. Not only did that not bode well for how he was treated, but was he implying that people had been laughing at her behind her back? Or did Fredjamin just mean that he had also been a social pariah?
Either way, she continued listening to the tale. The young officer’s eyes darkened with silent anger when Fredjamin revealed the scar on his arm. It was such a stupid thing for other marines to do. Just how bored and insecure were they to feel the need to mark one of their own for something so trivial as having an unusual name? She was the daughter of a pirate and could easily imagine what would have happened to her in that base if she hadn’t had fruit abilities to keep her safe.
She blinked at his next words, taking in the fact that the admiral had done him a kindness by taking him away from such a toxic situation and noting that Fredjamin was hemophobic. She wondered just how scared he was of seeing blood, and felt that the execution they had just witnessed on the television couldn’t have been good for him. It was a bit worrying since she felt that with the upcoming war, he’d likely have to see a lot of blood. It just hopefully wouldn’t be his own. Then he called her awesome, and she couldn’t help the grin spread on her face at the compliment.
Fredjamin then almost walked off the edge when he clearly stopped paying attention to where he was walking. So everyone on the ship had something interesting going on about them? Well, that would be good to know and interesting to find out as she got to meet and familiarize herself with the crew. She nodded, still listening to him as she headed over to the side with the bucket in tow and dumped the toxic goo out of the container. Meeting everyone would be good, although she gave Fredjamin a look of sympathy as he vomited, likely from the horror that was their fleet admiral’s justice.
While he threw up, she patted him once on the back and then glanced back at her bucket noticing a tinge of purple. There was still a small amount of poison that wouldn’t leave the bucket and stuck to the sides.
