Barnaby shrugs, shifting uncomfortably. “Um–I see into the–uh–future. I–uh–don’t remember them–uh–a lot. I’m not–uh–working–uh–right up here.” Barnaby points to his head, biting his lip.
-
<p style=”text-align: left;”>”Hey, calm down man, I didn’t mean nothin by that, don’t get so worked up.” Leppu pats Barnaby on the back, “anyway, we need a cool name for your power…. I got it! You have the power of the ALL-SEEING EYE OF GOD!” He yells loud enough for the people in the above decks to hear.</p>
-
“I don’t think that’s–um–needed.” Barnaby puts up his pointer finger. He frowns slightly, his eyes scan the wall, he seems to be stuck in thought, his pointer finger stays up.
-
Skylar had walked to them then grabbed Leppu by the collar of his shirt. “Shut up. I will create a river and let you drown! Got it?!” She had pushed him away from her then walked off.
-
“Ah! Its the River Goddess!” He goes into a self-defensive position he likely got from an old kung-fu movie until Skylar vanishes from sight, “Its weird how we keep bumping into her and then she leaves like 2 seconds later, I bet shes an Organization spy sent to keep tabs on me, right, Bar-” He cuts himself off, seeing Barnaby staring at the wall, “Hey what’s up man? Is there like a secret passage there?” Leppu starts staring at the wall, “Is it something your All-Seeing Eye of God showed you?”
-
Barnaby’s face seems to drain of absolute color. He walks over to the wall, he puts his back against it, he slides down until he’s sitting. Barnaby’s eyes softly close.
-
Leppu gently pats the top of his head, “You sleepy? Probably not the best place to take a nap…” Leppu leans against the wall opposite Barnaby and scratches the top of his head, “Well, what are we supposed to do now?”
-
Barnaby opens his eyes. “Umm–uh–” he starts shaking. He brings his knees up to chest and bawls out, “It’s–it’s just so hard for me!” Barnaby hugs his knees tighter against his chest, he lays down. “And–and I can’t–I can’t do anything. And–and people don’t–people don’t–understand that–that I can’t do anything.”
-
Leppu, somewhat surprised, steps away from the wall he was leaning on. He sits in front of Barnaby for a second, then awkwardly hugs him, “it’s alright buddy…” He pauses, trying to think of a way to reassure Barnaby, but could only come up with the lame response of “it’s ok, I’m useless too.”
-
Barnaby hides his head inbwtween his knees, he violently shakes now. “No–no. You don’t–uh–you don’t understand.” he stops shaking, he quickly sits up, pushing Leppu away. He stands up, red faced. “Nobody understands!” he screams, falling to his knees, bawling even more.
-
Leppu falls to his back after being pushed, but doesn’t bother to get up, “never said I did… But I guess I did make that the implication.” He adjusts his goggles and mumbles”It’s just that all my friends always say I’m useless trash.” Leppu raises his voice and speaks with confidence, “but those people just suck, so the people who say you suck, they just suck even more!” Leppu pauses for a second and with even more cofidence says, “well, I forgot where I was going with this, but you get the picture, right? So don’t cry, and I am not gonna move from this spot until you are happy again.” Leppu crosses his arms, still laying on the floor.
-
(Ship. Ship. Ship.)
“BUT I CAN’T STOP!” Barnaby tries to say something else, but a slur of words only passes his lips. He takes in a deep breath, he exhales. “Um–I can’t control–um–this.” he says quietly. “That’s–the–uh–part people don’t–uh–understand. I have a disease and it’s–it’s killing me.” Barnaby looks at Leppu, he bites on his tongue, keeping himself from saying anymore.
-
Lawrence sits on the ceiling “while he probably can’t understand, I’m sure Leppu here can at least be a comfort.”
-
“well, if you’re sick, then why don’t you go to the hospital or something?” Leppu says, sitting up and breaking his word not to move, “they can cure, like, everything, right?”
