“Do you give up yet?” Eni asked, looking a little smug but not dropping her guard. “I can heal those wounds, if you just surrender.”
-
Her red hair fell over her eyes, but a smiled bowed her lips up as a low laugh rasped out. “…I’m the daughter of a general…We firekin do not give up.” But the pain made her vision dot with black spots, and her body felt as though ice was crawling across it the pain was so intense. She grabbed a stake of ice slowly, and it slipped a bit. Blood or water from a melting shard? No clue. She forced the stake up, freeing her foot and lifting herself up from where other shards had run her through. Her eyes went unfocused as pain crashed into her again, “So come on then, lets go.” She shook her head, focusing herself and pulled her tired body into a position to fight, fists up.
-
Eni walked over, willing the ice to crawl up the firekin’s legs and lock her in place. Â “You are in no condition to fight anymore, young one.”
“Submit.”
-
While the two were fighting Gekido had snuck around the two to behind the firekin girl and ran up behind her and put his Sword, now glowing white hot, to her throat “I suggest you do as she says”
-
“Submit.”
The word was foreign. Wrong. Fire did not submit, it fought with every flare of energy it had before dying out into a thin glowing line within the ash, waiting for the moment oxygen would hit it so it could flare up to burn again. The ice crawling up her legs held her in place and was thickening by the second. It would be useless to try and break free, wasting the little energy she had left. Scraping the last of the energy deep and low as her toes that were probably getting frost bite, she gathered it up to her hands so her fingers were tingling. Usually when she was preparing a fire attack here her hands buzzed with the energy. She clapped her hands together, knowing she would have to keep the mass of energy as one as she swung out, as if holding her sword. “No.” She murmured, though the girl probably couldn’t hear her as a fan of fire sliced toward her. A short fast burst rather than a river of gold as she’d hoped. With the most of her flame gone, her eyes unfocused and she breathed out as her body went slack, falling to the floor in an awkward jumble of limbs with her feet still solidly on the floor from the barriers of ice.
-
As she fell Gekido caught her before she hit the ground to keep her from getting hurt any more than she already was. He looked to Eni as if asking her to unfreeze her legs so that he could carry her back to camp. He then held up her limp hand expecting to see an ice bracelet materialize on her wrist matching the one on his.

Xander reveals his camouflage and offers Gekido a hand. “I had the right to experience that because it was near me. However, if I was wrong and if this is considered as betrayal I’ll face punishment. ”
In reality Xander had no will to really betray them because a animal should never bite the hand that feeds it. And anyway, it was better to falsely plead guilty than falsely innocent.

Dusty woke up cold. This was a bad thing. Dusty didn’t like being cold. Dusty also woke up hungry. Another bad thing. A pretty bad way to start the day, Dusty thought. Dusty questioned the fact of why he was so cold, until it dawned on him. It was always cold. Because Dusty was currently living in an igloo. Dusty was not the quickest one- especially in the morning. But I digress. Dusty was, indeed, living in an igloo. Again, not something that Dusty liked. But let’s backtrack a bit. However, at least he wasn’t alone, as he had a hawk and a slime to keep him company. You may ask yourself, why was Dusty in an igloo? Who the hell is “Dusty”? Why does he have a hawk? What’s a “slime”, and why does he have that either? These are good questions, but the answers aren’t simple. Dusty has a long, winding road that got him here, but you don’t need to worry about that right now. For now, all that matters is that Dusty needs food, and warmth wouldn’t be bad either. Warmth comes naturally to Dusty, as a firekin. However, food doesn’t come naturally to Dusty. What does one do when they need food? It had been a while since Dusty had been a part of regular society, but he at least knew the basics. He thought he probably should go looking for other people, maybe they could have some food for Dusty. This seeming like a logical thought to him. And so, having thought these thoughts, and an additional grumble or gripe about food, Dusty called Astora, the hawk, to scout ahead and Pumpernickel, the not-hawk, to sit on his shoulder and provide moral support. This made Pumpernickel happy. Pumpernickel was good at moral support. With the sun rising to the side and the igloo behind them, they set out in search of civilization.

Eni flicked her wrist, and the ice melted, some of the water indeed freezing into an identical bracelet on her wrist to Gekido’s own.
“Take her and the sword inside, put her in one of the beds. I will see to her in a moment,” she said, looking tired for a moment. “Then one of you will come with me… I have one more person to collect today.” she raised her hands and the area of the fight returned to its original state. She was still doing repairs as Gekido carried the firekin girl into her house, where Nuri still slept.

Xander brushed the frost himself so as if not to feel cold, but really it prepared for his next illusion. He said, “I’ll go this time.”
His reason for going was not only to lift the burden on Gekido, who he trusted, but also to practice his powers. Also, even though he saw no possible future event that would place Eni as his enemy, it was’t a bad idea to witness her abilities first-hand, as perhaps he would once face a similar hybrid if she had ghosts in her unknown past. Lastly, he wanted to repay the hand that had fed him. He turned his eyes gold, which was something he could hold for hours.
-
Eni glanced at him, nodding with approval. “One thing…” she waved her hand and the flame crystal on his wrist(which he may or may not have noticed already) frosted over, taking the appearance of ice. ‘I’ll be back in just a moment.”
Without a single backwards glance, she swept inside. “You poor thing…” she murmured sorrowfully, looking at the firekin girl. She held her hands out and they started burning green. She bit her lip in concentration and ran the flame over the girl’s wounds, healing the worst of it. Her hands shook and sweat beaded on her brow when she was finished. “There.” she went outside again, dark shadows under her eyes.
“Let’s go.”

Speaking from the heart here, or rather the proverbial one, as usually one speaks with their mouth, you probably haven’t trekked through miles of barren desert. If you have, well, congratulations. Surely then, you feel empathy for Dusty. If you haven’t experienced this, consider yourself lucky. Ironically, Dusty was, at this moment, considering himself lucky. Walking for a few days now, with nobody except for a hawk and a not-hawk to keep him company, he was surprised he wasn’t hallucinating yet. Again, his separation from society held him back, but he had heard of people in deserts seeing things, like mirages, and it driving them insane. Luckily for him, Dusty had two advantages going for him. For one, Dusty didn’t tend to take things for granted, perhaps stemming from his constant state of being on the run. Another advantage was Dusty’s magic. You see, Dusty was a firekin, and in the arctic deserts, especially at night, things could get a bit… nippy. Fortunately, he had some skill in fire magic, however he mostly only used it for cooking food and lighting arrows. His lack of reliance on his magic made him a bit rusty, but he more than made up for it in hunting skills, which he found useful once the seemingly endless walk finally reached something different from the desert he had grown accustomed to- the taiga. “Excellent.” Dusty said to himself and Pumpernickel. “We can get some food, or maybe find some other people.” And so Dusty walked on into the woods, hoping by chance to stumble upon other forms of life in his forsaken journey.
-
Eni let out a steamy breath. They had traveled through the night to a rather large forest, and now it was just a matter of locating the firekin she was looking for. Although she was disappointed she hadn’t found many more cold ones, or even better, humans, she understood. Much of what was once England and its surrounding areas was firekin territory, and the firekin were very sure to make that known. “Hey! Anyone out there?” she yelled through cupped hands. She was shocked that this particular firekin was so far from that area, choosing instead to trek across uncharted, unclaimed territory. But, that did not matter to her. She was on a quest, and nothing would stop her from doing as she had been tasked.
-
After walking for 2 days on end, even without hallucinations, one begins to doubt their senses. Dusty was no different, and when he heard voices in the distance, he passed them off as wishful thinking, but as they continued, he became more suspicious. Upon calling the hawk back and confirming his suspicions, he rushed out to meet the strange new arrival, holding his sword with one hand and Pumpernickel with the other, so as not to lose him as his feet pounded against the damp grass.

Din had most of the scene that just occurred from a distance and decided against meeting with the icy firekin as so far he’s seen her take out 2 firekin. He also sees some new character and, isn’t that the dude from before he thinks, he is unsure whether they’re working together or the firekin is her prisoner but he wasn’t feeling ready to risk it. he had made a few enemies in his line of work and that icy firekin could’ve just been giving him a head start and he just walked right to her. So following this cautious yet bizzare train of thought he decided to run off back into the forest hoping he wouldn’t get found.
