The rules are below the story and background. If you’d like you can skip the story and read the rules.
Let’s start with the story, a part of it anyway. You are either a subject or the staff of a mysterious facility in an unknown location. As a subject, how you ended up here is as varied as things here. Residing in the facility are beings of many different types from different places with different stories. Your knowledge even if vast, is limited when it comes to this place. Some people do not even know they are in a facility or that they are being contained. People here do not always know why you are here. The place is called the facility, because of the simple reason that nobody seems to know what the place is really called. Nor where this place is located.
As far as subject origins go, some subjects are born in the facility. Some are put in simulations and do not even know they are in facility and that they are being watched. Environments vary. Some subjects have an entire ecosystem to themselves. Others simply have simulations. Some people know they are in a facility and are treated horribly. Others kindly. How you are treated in the facility is up to you. Some people come from other dimensions, or even other universes. Some people are nothing more then just bums nobody noticed was missing, convicts or people the government (or something else) made disappear. Some things are of this universe but not of this earth. Others come from places one does not know or are able to understand. Some things are just of unknown origin. Some are just normal people. Asked to go along with them for purpose or to get out of a difficult situation. Age varies. Some things here are not even a few days old. Others have existed since the dawn of the universe and even a few pre dating this universe.
Irregardless, a subject does not necessarily mean you are a weapon, or have painful tests done on you. But that can be the case. Sometimes, some extra people are taken. Like family. And they live in the facility.
As a staff member, you are usually coerced into working here. You however do not know where exactly you are. Once you are in, you can’t leave. You are however paid a lot of money and the living compartments are luxurious and actually very open. Any family can be well taken care of. A vast majority of staff are simply humans. Any of the staff you interact with are humans. As a staff member, you can be a scientist, janitor, engineer, project managers or security. Security has access to very good weapons and sometimes things made specifically to combat and contain rogue experiments. A vast majority of the standard weapons are only about 3 years-2 decades give or take away. Like exoskeletons and some weaker cybernetics. As a whole however, the facility holds and studies technology of all kinds. From things 3 years away to things thousands of years into the future.
As a staff member, you do not have to work with people necessarily. You can simply work to develop your own project and things, if you want.
My character is Coeus, named after the Titan. A powerful entity who’s origin may or may not be touched on. Nobody knows about it unless it reveals itself to you. Not even the player staff. There is no known way to detect it unless it wants to be known. People who detect souls and spirits sometimes see it has no soul.
This roleplay is inspired by many things, including SCP foundation and portal. I try to make the world dynamic and there are a slew of NPCs with varying backgrounds that staff member may be assigned to that I will control. It’s deliberate that you don’t know much and that you can discover and explore. The place has history, experiments have files, test footage and other stuff for you to find. Your origin is supposed to be flexible.
Rules
1. This RP follows a slightly different way of playing. Events happen regularly in different areas. There are some vital NPCs that I do control. There are some established places in the facility however I will allow you to make your own little sector. The place can look however you feel it should. Some areas look like simply a hospital or lab. Others are metallic and “futuristic.” Your area can vary. It can be a lab, a hospital room, a large biosphere, a construct and many other things. I act mostly through Coeus.
2 You do not escape the facility. Period. This is not just because I said so. It is because it is actually impossible to leave facility. Things prevent. You can try whatever you want, all you want. This includes people who can teleport, make portals, are ghosts, can astral project, can become intangible or can travel through another dimension. I cannot stop you from trying to leave, but you won’t be able to. All communications with the outside world and realms are cut off. Nearly any mental/psionic link you may have with someone outside is severed upon entering the facility. It is sometimes suggested some people who you have a link with accompany you if they are that important
3. You also are prevented from going into some locations that I specify.
4. You cannot enter a player’s location at first if they specify that you cannot enter their area. Unless Coeus allows you. Otherwise, you can mingle with people as you enter other people’s containment or meet in the hallways. However your story goes. Basically. You can only keep to yourself for so long….This goes for both Staff and experiments. If you want to start in the same place as someone or plan to meet them, that’s fine. Staff can meet very easily. Staff are also allowed to meet some experiments. Other times they do so at their own risk or not at all.
5. You can be powerful, there are a few “gods” here but no goddmodding. Some people are just ordinary humans, others are supersoldiers, another might be a mage from another universe that calls fire from the sky, another might be a cartoon, but try to make it be able to be fun for other players and keep in mind what your character can and cannot do. If you have a specific weakness or a strict way to how your power works, all the better. You cannot edit your bio in the middle of a fight and it is helpful if you say why you are editing. Decide well on your powers. Your character cannot be completely unbeatable.
6. Rule of general fun takes prevalence.
7. I will not limit your character’s personality. He/She/It can have whatever type of personality you want. Maybe nice. Maybe not. But be nice OOC, as an author.
8. No fandoms. You can use images but please be original.
9. For explicit content, you either go over to private message or use spoilers. Like this{Spoiler]text here[/spoiler] to conceal said content. If you don’t use it, I will either modify your post to put it in, or remove it. How do you use a spoiler on skyrie? [ spoiler ]Text here[ /spoiler ] Like that but with no spaces. I spaced the brackets so that would show (Your welcome. Now you know how to use spoilers on Skyrie :P)
10. Random things happen, a lot. Things can go wrong. NPCs can die. And so can you. You might be in the middle of fighting someone. An NPC can suddenly grab you. But I won’t generally put you in a situation you can’t get out of. Players do things, but they must play fairly like in any other RP.
11. As a staff member, this does not necessarily mean you are safe.
12. No autohitting. This also extends to some important NPCs that I will specify in the post. Which means fighting it is like fighting another player essentially. THese NPCs are capable of killing you.
13. Coeus can help or hinder whatever it chooses too.
14. Certain abilities are very inhibitable. Such as teleportation as I have already mentioned. This includes precognition, manipulating space+time (time travel is not allowed), opening wormholes, manipulating gravity, manipulating matter and manipulating reality itself. Again, it isn’t just because I said so. It’s because you are in story being stopped by doing so.
15. Staff are allowed to bring personal weapons with them. They can even order any weapon that exists now that can be stored in a closet that does currently exist or has ever existed. If you want to order just a pistol. Go ahead. If you want an anti tank rifle. Go ahead. If you want a katana or some throwing knives. Go right ahead.
16. If you are gone for too long while interacting with another player character, your character can disappear abruptly and go off to another area of the facility. The same happens if you are banned for some reason or decide to leave the roleplay.
17. As a staff member, you are an ordinary human of a varying background and ordinary weapons. You do not have powers….at first. If you would like, something can happen to your character that gives them magical/sciencey powers. The level of competence varies around the facility. Magical items can be found in “uncontrolled” environments or stolen from other areas. Places where things go horribly wrong. Other things like experimental/alien weapons from the future can be found here too. Subjects sometimes have weapons taken away, other times they are allowed to keep it.
18. Keep in mind for your origin if you are a test subject cannot conflict with this world that is like ours. The general populace does not know about magic or aliens. They know as much as you currently are capable of knowing. So if you made a character that is 50 meters tall go on a rampage. People can’t know about that. Media will be suppressed, and anyone who saw, mindwiped/memory altered. People who know you exist generally cannot prove it if you are “supernatural.” Pretty much, the world is like ours mostly, as far as you can see.
19. You can only make 1 character for now. If you have a “set” as in something that shares one mind but has multiple bodies, can make multiple versions of itself, is made up of numurous smaller things, are twins who are mentally connected (or not), etc….That is fine. So are a few NPCs who you might wan to tag along.
20. I can add, change and alter the rules as necessary, my primary concern is that people in general have fun. If I add or change a rule I’ll announce it. Me editing could also simply be to correct grammar or, make the the story less confusing. Or correct mistakes
21. All staff have access to your files and know about your powers and the powers of NPC subjects. (Added)
If you have questions or concerns. Feel free to ask me.
Now that your through that. Sign below to stay. You can simply say state that you agree to the rules or you roleplay your character signing the rules. I’ll start.
Something black rises from the floor appearing from seemingly nothing with it’s hands behind it’s back. A mist goes to the pen and it floats within it, then moves along the paper to right “Coeus.” It then leans back and falls. As it hits the ground, it splashes as if it were made of water, and disappears. The pen drops as the mist dissipates.
-
The woman sign her name on the piece of paper and bow to the man in front of her “if that is necessary to keep my clan existing then i shall agree with your terms”
-
The masked man signed the paper and nod his head at the man, “I agree to all of it.”
-
The woman signed the paper then brought out her notepad and wrote, Sure I guess, I agree
-
The pen rises of its own accord, hundreds of invisibly small robots linking around it and forcing it upwards. The pen stands on its tip and makes a perfect circle on the paper. “0”. Then it lowers smoothly to the table and the nanobots disperse.
-
A weird man wearing a blank mask signs the paper and says”Seems legit.
-
“Yeah, yeah I agree,” a red haired man takes the pen and signs his name Zach Karlin. The man then proceeds to leave the room and get to work.
-
“I agree to your rules,” the boy hummed, picking up the pen and lazily signing the page.
