The Roleplay

Tristan grinned as the shy Omega in front of him responded. She was speaking pretty softly, just a little too hard to hear but he smiled encouragingly nonetheless. “So you’re new here too, then?” He thought for a moment and then took a sip of his mixed drink. “Well, now we both know at least one person here. Do you plan on coming, often then?” A thought occurred to the Beta, “You aren’t waiting for anyone are you? I wouldn’t want to take your spot or anything.”
-
Rylie laughed. She had met a few male omegas before. A lot of them were ashamed of their position, but Leon didn’t seem to be at all. It was refreshing. “Yeah, my father probably would have murdered me if I was caught sleeping in grade school. He was always pushing me to do my best. Probably a little too hard. But, I did everything he wanted me to do and I did my best to do it without his help.” Rylie said, then realized she was giving away a bit much. “I’m sorry, I’m venting” she said, “What were your favorite subjects in school?”
-
She figured he wasn’t much more of a threat, knowing that he was a Beta, and began to speak a little bit louder so he could hear her better, “I guess so..” She then blinked at his question, “Well, I think I’ll be here often, knowing the people that live in the apartment building that know me want me to interact with other people…” Her eyes then widened at the mention of her waiting for someone and just shook her head, “Oh no. I’m not waiting for anyone. I’m more of the type that just blends into the crowd, so I highly doubt any Alphas would be interested in an Omega like myself.” It wasn’t that she was putting herself down, she was merely stating how she sometimes liked being invisible for fear of making a fool out of herself.
-
After taking a sip of his drink and commenting on the taste, Leon mentioned, “Well, I used to be really into art, and I had a few decent projects from my classes that I would just sort of keep around. I never really reached my potential with it, I think, and I just started drawing less and less. It was around that time that I got really into computers, and it seemed to my family that I would always be on my laptop after school.”
Leon put his elbow down on the table, supporting his head with his hand under his chin, before continuing, “I was sort of an underachiever, but I knew enough to get decent grades without pushing myself. At the same time, I never really did anything extra with school; I didn’t play sports like my family wanted me to, I wasn’t in the band, or anything like that. I think I was nominated to be among the honor students once, but I didn’t take the position. I never felt the need to prove myself, and my family just sort of blamed that on my being an Omega. After a while, my family accepted that; they were okay with my choice in hobby, and all that gentle nudging just changed to my brother, Damian, the junior athlete.” -
“My family is very…traditional Rylie said. “My father is an alpha who found himself an omega, and then had all alpha children. I have two brothers, but I think my father pushed me the hardest because I’m a girl. Everyone joined the medical field, but I excelled faster than my two older brothers” Rylie continued.
“My father did his best to make sure me and my brothers had nothing to do with the arts and the humanities when we were in school. If he ever saw we chose an art or music class, he made sure we replaced it with some sort of science or mathematics. I guess I never really had much of a choice of what I could become when I was older…” Rylie trailed off. She took a big sip of her drink. Why was she opening up like this? She never really thought about if there was anything else she wanted to do with her life. Everything was set for her the moment she was born. The only choice she had was with what she would specialize in. She stared into her glass, lost in thought. -
Breaking the momentary silence, Leon asked, “Well, are you happy with your job? I suppose there’s more to it than that, but really, if you’re happy with your job, then it should be fine.” Leon went on, “To be honest, art class wasn’t really that great; they had to keep up with all these regulations that were being put up to make it meet education standards, like writing sentences about the nature of your art, and including all these studies into the elements of art, and understanding how an art piece can feel realistic without being so.” Leon sat up in his seat once again, continuing, “Not to mention, it had the lowest budget out of everything, and so that limited the number of projects we got to work on, and the materials we got to use. The teacher was constantly complaining about how little we had.” Leon sighed.
-
Tristan shrugged in response. It didn’t seem like she regretted not attracting the attention of an Alpha, so he didn’t try to chime in with encouragement. “Yeah, I got stuck with a membership to this place because my sister wanted me to hang out and meet people as well. I think she’s secretly hoping I’ll find a nice Alpha or Beta to date,” He pulled a rueful face before shooting his companion a conspiratorial grin, “Hah. Like that’s ever going to happen.” Really, he was quite proud of his ability to avoid the Alphas in his college classes so far. The Beta leaned back a bit, relaxing into the booth before noticing that the Omega had no drink or snack. “So…do you want a drink or something? I’m about to switch to just soda, but don’t tell anyone. It’s no problem to get something for you while I’m up.”
-
Rylie smiled once again, “I really do love my job. I guess I just never really thought about all the other things I could have done with my life. All of my free time still usually revolves around my job. I’ve never been to this place before, but Ifigured for my own sanity it would be good to get away from work once and a while.” Rylie took out a nice pen from her little hand purse. “I’m sorry to hear about how much you art program was limited. Do you still have an interest in it?” she asked. She pushes the pen and a napkin towards Leon. “Do you still like to draw at all?”
-
“It wasn’t all bad, I have to admit,” Leon smirked, “and I do like to draw occasionally, it never stopped with art class, just died down a bit.” He took the pen and almost brought it down on the napkin to draw, but paused, tapping the blunt end of it on the table lightly as he asked, “Is there anything in particular I should draw on here?” a slight hint of a smirk still on his face.
-
Mimicking Leon, Rylie brought her elbows onto the table and rested her chin on her hands. “I don’t really have a preference. Surprise me” Rylie said.
-
“Alright then, Rylie,” Leon confirmed, as he began to seemingly scribble on the napkin, slowly at first, but beginning to form various shapes as he went along, layered behind each other in no particular order. The entire drawing began to take an abstract appearance, as if he had been drawing like this all his life. Slowly, he turned some of the shapes into recognizable objects, like playing cards, a palm tree, and various other things, and filled in others with different types of lines, as if to simply fill the space. To him, it was just like finishing an art assignment, not drawing on some random napkin. Everything seemed to blur around him, noises and sights alike, all except for the drawing. Just as he was filling in the last shape, the wear on the napkin began to show, and the pen tore through it, bringing him out of his trance. “Oh, shoot. I was just about done, too.”
-
She could only smile in response, thinking that it must have been nice to have a sibling. She didn’t remember much of her family, but it wasn’t like she really minded at the moment. Though the thought of having someone like a family member worry about her made her heart feel warm, it was probably better for her to be alone. At the offer of getting something to drink, she noticed her drink was halfway done, but she shook her head to decline politely, “No, it’s fine. You don’t have to do that for me.”
-
Karl smiled. All well, just because it wasn’t a challenge didn’t mean couldn’t have fun. He took the pool cue from her. “Alright, breaking is pretty easy. The balls are already set up so you just need to worry about the actual break. Simply take this pose” he leaned slightly over the pool table. “And you hold your cue like this.” He drew the cue back and held the front end in his fingers to steady it. “Ok. Now you try. I will help you if you need any help using the cue.”
-
Mirna sighed, figuring it wasn’t very becoming to be in a corner for the entire time she was there, so she stood up from her little corner and made it to the middle of the main room she was in, looking around to see if there was anyone she would be comfortable enough talking to, she fiddled with the hem of her sweater, flushing red from this and almost deciding that this was horrible idea and maybe she should just go home.
-
Rylie watched as Leon drew on the napkin. She saw him become totally focused on the drawing itself. It’s like the world around him ceased to exist as he created a new world on a flimsy napkin. Rylie smiled as she watched, and she wondered how she looked as she did her own work. When the napkin ripped, Rylie looked up at Leon and said, “Wow, you’re very talented. It still looks great, even with the tear down the middle.”
