“Hmmm.”
Fondue studied the cards. She carefully selected 3 cards out of the 78.
“Alright Carto, I have my three.”
She didn’t look at them, but stared at the beautiful patterns on the backs. There were many symbols. Some she recognized, others just looked like a bunch of scribbles. The same pattern printed on every card. It made her eyes hurt a little. It was some type of illusion. She stopped looking at the cards and looked at the cat in front of her. -
He takes the cards “Ah judgement, this could vary, the death that’s usually a grimvsign, Oh wait the star that’s pretty good, it means a hopeful change for the future and either time to ignore past problems… or death, however this is only half the reading,” he had took the death card and pricked her finger with it, “sorry I need a bit of blood for this next trick,” he then watched the blood start to cover the card even though it was a little. Eventually the card turned completely red he put it next to the other cards and they turned the same color they spun and soon turned seemingly normal he took the ‘original’ death card and flipped it over this time it showed a picture of melted chocolate, “seems you weren’t lying about your name,” he turns it around and stretches It out surprisingly and reads off of it “alright so there was a mage that made you a kitsune but your parents didn’t like a that’s sad, oh but then you worked at an inn… oh no one liked you there either but wait you used to adventure not bad, well don’t focus on the past, Oh right,” he levitated the 2nd card towards him and said “this is the part where I ask your permission to continue because it gets interesting from here.”

Fondue was amazed at the card’s truth. Everything had happened to her that the card read. She wanted to see more.
“You have permission.”
She stared at the feline. Carto was surely intriguing. The cards only showed pictures yet they seemed to speak to him. -
The beast spreads hus wings and rose he made the first card fall into the ground. “As death shows the past we shall see your judgment of now,” the previous judgment card reveals an a poorly drawn fox walking into an inn “and judgment reveals truth, your current mission is to find an Inn that would accept you for how you are,” he flips the card to show a picture of the same fox biting someone “info: name we already covered, age let’s skip it, threat level ultimately low,” after telling of several other facts he brings the card into the ground “that card doesn’t often interest but this will.” Carto brings the remaining card the star to the front, “and what shall the star reveal for the future,” he turns the card and it shows the same fox from earlier but in a better drawing style and a lot more defined and it is smiling “well it seems you find the place you feel welcome heck you might already be there,” he makes the third card fall in the ground and one card comes out of the ground with a picture of fondue and it flies into the deck, “well that’s your reading,” and shortly after his eyes turn red “well you may not be a murderer I guess.”

“Aldi, why would you think I was a murderer?”
Fondue asked rhetorically. She stared at the cat and his wings.
“So those are real phoenix wings?”
Fondue raised her hand and slowly reached for the flaming wings. She stroked them gently.
“I’m also immune to fire.”
Ninetails were known for living in fire, near phoenix nests. Her eyes reflected the fire wings. Her pupils were small and alerting. -
“Standard protocol for finding friends,” he fell lightly to the ground, “I can’t have you assassinate me more than once,” he chuckled as he said that, “yep part phoenix, but it’d be embarrassing to be killed by the same person twice,” his eyes began to shift to gray while talking.
