Rea whimpered and skidded to a halt, pacing back and forth, and bobbing her head up and down in frustration. She wanted the girl, but the fire was in her way. She feinted one way and then attacked the other way.
-
Rea jumped forward at the movement, letting out a savage growl and snapping her teeth at the girl.It was safe to say there was no longer a human mind controlling this wolf, and even the collar around her neck was not enough to calm the beast in such a situation as this one.
-
Rea sidled forward, letting out a low warning growl. There were too many smells jumbled together that didn’t match her eyes, and it was making her mad. Her head was low to the ground as she took an attack-ready stance.
-
Rea shook herself and trotted forward. She began smelling human, and her hackles rose. Her teeth glinted in the low light of flickering flames as she saw them, and something else, leading to pull her lips back in a snarl.
-
Rea nodded and padded into the dark. Something pulled her there. She needed to see what had caused so many smells.
-
Rea yipped thankfully and jumped through the barrier. She immediately hunkered down, folding her ears flat against her skull. She let out a growl and ran up close to Fang, answering his howl with a low song of her own.
We leave the saftey
of our resting halls,
Shall we forward?
Or will we fall?
Back, back, back
or to the dark? -
The scent of the herbs reached her nose and she sneezed, the collar jingling. She didn’t change back, but her vocal chords did. “We… go… see.” she said slowly, looking at the barrier again.
-
Rea fell to the floor and whimpered, dropping into a submissive pose. Still she wiggled forward on her belly.trying to pass through the barrier. The noises unsettled her, and she would not rest until she knew what they were.
-
Rea jumped up, fur bristling, and growled. She got up and went after the noise, attempting to go through the barrier.
-
Rea let out a whine and circled around him three more times before laying down in a arc around him. She made a whuff noise and slowly wagged her tail.
-
She whined and walked over to him, nuzzling his shoulder. She paced circles around him every time he stopped long enough, and followed behind him with her ears shoved forward, curious, when he didn’t. She wished she knew what had aggravated him- she would rip it apart with her teeth and bathe her muzzle in its blood. But she didn’t, so she couldn’t do anything but this.
-
Rea set her head down on her paws, looking at him. She hated this part, the part where even speech was disallowed as they were fully transformed. She sniffed at him, her nose twitching as she memorized his scent without even thinking. Her eyes were glowing brighter and brighter, and she started panting nervously.
-
“Ha ha.” she muttered, not finding it as funny as he did. She reached in the bag and found they had exhausted their stores of junk food. She sighed. The wolf was stealthily slipping into control, she realized as the final changes took over. She was still her own for now, but she found herself unable to shift back into human form. She let out a long whine and crawled over to Fang, curling up next to him.
-
Rea closed her eyes as his hand ran over her ears, but she felt guilty. Her changing was affecting him too, and it wasn’t fair to him. She retreated against the wall. “It’s coming soon…” she whispered.
-
“Wow.” Rea didn’t know what else to say. She got up again and walked over by him. “Do you think this is where I belong? What if the others don’t accept me- what if I can’t fit in? I don’t know any magic… not even an element or anything like you!” she sighed and her ears drooped. “I suppose, we should try to sleep some more- or at least I should leave you be- you look exhausted.” she noticed her nails were sharpening. “I think I might turn if I sleep, actually.”
