She smiled with relief as they headed towards the golden light. “Almost there,” she whispered. She took a step too large and bumped into his back. “O-oops.” Rea stuttered, blushing.

Eni grabbed the merchant’s wrist, revealing a just barely glowing fire crystal. “You think this would last forever?” she hissed. “YOu cannot betray me to a bunch of bounty hunters and get away with it! I’ll leave you with the firekin first, and then….”

Rea let out a nervous breath and padded along behind him. “I noticed this last time, but wow, it’s pitch black down here! Even with my night vision I can’t see a thing!” she whispered, staying close to Fang. “Let’s hurry back to the room.”

“Right.” she said, grabbing it(the one thing she brought with from downstairs) and taking some of it. She threw it over the area, waiting for the door to appear. “So aura sensing. I thought only practicing witches and wizards gave off a lasting aura.”

“Yeah. So, the door under the stairs? Or do you want to risk getting caught in the girl’s bathroom?” she asked, smiling. She was jittery and nervous, and the night was beginning to set in, the last hours before the full moon slipping quietly away, but for the first time in a while, she was happy. “I mean, I think we should stick together now that that freaky ghost knows we’re down there.”

Eni shrugged and stretched out her wings, taking a leap off the roof and flying over to another rooftop. She was scanning the crowd from there when she saw the human. He had grown quite accustomed to living among the firekin, she could see that as he peddled his wares to the unaware firekin. She waited until they had left and then glided over to his spot, landing on the table. Her hair, her aura, everything about her now seemed firekin. “Nicolas, Nicolas… you don’t cheat me without paying for it.” she slammed the human, who appeared as much a firekin as she did, against the wall.

“Well, if you can get your hands on a collar and convince Miss Vine, I know how to make them.” Rea commented, blushing. “I mean, I could- if you wanted me to….” She started out the door with all the stuff. “You coming?”

“Well, when I’m lucky… was lucky, we would get to hunt. But when we couldn’t….jerky and grape soda… and… red bull. It helps keep my human brain a little more active for a little longer. Did you know we get stronger on the full moon? And bigger, too, in our wolf forms. I actually made it halfway through the whole thing, and I remember changing and thinking, ‘wow, this room is really small!’ I don’t think it will be a problem in that room though. It’s a decent size.” She unlocked her room with the ornate black skeleton key and grabbed a bag that was already full of foods and red bull. “My brother did the same as you, so you’re in luck for spicy food.” She walked over to a closet and chucked a pillow playfully at him. The pillow was followed by a light quilt landing on his head. “Pffft.” She grabbed a few more blankets and her actual collar. The one she had given to Miss Vine had been her brother’s, she had pulled it off his body when she buried him. Hers was silver, less beat up, and had a set of tags next to the pouch of herbs.
“I’m small enough to pass as a husky, normally.” she explained as the tag jingled. “Okay, shall we go back?”

“Not particularly. Go back to bed, you aren’t ready to fight me again.” Eni said, not taking her eyes of the crowd. Nicolas was brave and stupid to be trading in the city, and even stupider if he thought she would continue supplying his disguise without him paying the due price.

Rea smiled with relief, and a bubbly feeling rose up in her chest. “Okay. Let’s head back to my room, we gotta be quick. Full moon’s tomorrow, but I can already feel the wolf.” she said. She offered her hand to him. “I’m sure you feel it too.”

Rea gulped and nodded. “I will tell you about me and magic when we are back in safety.” she replied, scrambling up the ladder.

“I mean, I’m not adverse to the other…” Rea said, mostly to herself. She walked through the golden ward, shivering at the odd feeling. “Okay, let’s get out of here.”

Rea gulped and nodded. “Um… can I go out with you?” she asked nervously. “Er, out of the catacombs, I mean!” she laughed, turning red. Fenrir’s tail, I sound like a pup! she thought to herself.

“YOU JUST ABOUT GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK!!!” She said, shoving him. “I thought somdthing really had you! Pardon me for this, but you know what they say about crying wolf!” She calmed down fairly quickly, looking sheepish. “Sorry, I think I’ve been on the road too long. I’m a liiiittle jumpy.” She laughed, settling against the wall. “Do you want to go and get some snacks and stuff really quick, then?” She asked. “Maybe some pillows? I’ll sleep the whole day after the full moon.”

“Maybe Miss Vine would let me see it all! Although she seems pretty set on ‘bringing me up’ as a witch,” she said. “So, can we get out of here if we want, or will someone have to come down and let us out?” She asked, standing and admiring the golden field of light.
