Rea noticed the panther and looking over his lithe form, she was impressed. <hello. You’re breaking curfew, just so you know.> she sat down and looked at the remains of the rabbit, the bones of the ribs in particular. She licked her lips. <May I?> she asked, pointing her nose at the small body.
-
Rea jogged further away from the school, searching the shadows for movement. <Hello? I saw you through the window in the school…> she continued forward, catching the scent of rabbit. She sniffed, trying to get an idea of where it was. <Rabbit….? Was that you?>
-
Rea made her way outside and sniffed the air. No, too many scents for her to pick out anything. She looked up at the moon, wondering if she could risk changing now. She shrugged it off, shaking off her human clothes as she grew in size and fell on all fours. <hello? Anyone out here?> she called.
-
Rea considered the movement, wondering what it was. She couldn’t see or smell much through the glass…
I guess it wouldn’t hurt to go see…. what if it’s dangerous? She thought to herself. She crept out of the room and at first went the wrong way, finding herself walking by rooms in the hundreds and nearly running onto one boy as he staggered out of a room. She resisted the urge to snarl at him to watch where he was going, and simply turned around. Outside was the other way.
-
Rea looked up at the rising moon. Moments ago, she had been tired, but now her eyes were bright as she walked to the large window with the sitting nook. “A familiar…. but what familiar would want me?” she whispered to the waxing moon.
-
Rea waved goodbye and then entered her room, collapsing on the bed without even looking much at the room. Nothing like Harry Potter…. she thought to herself.
-
Rea smile gratefully, a twinge of concern at the sound of the word ‘curfew’. “How much trouble do you get in for getting caught out past curfew?” she asked nervously.
-
“Rea, nice to meet you.” Rea was quite surprised at this person’s kindness- she didn’t seem at all disconcerted by her wolfishness. “To be honest, it’s probably best I don’t have a roommate to be disturbed by my nocturnal behaviors.” Oh, but I bet Ronan would have loved this place…. “So, what’s it like here?”
-
“Actually… no. I don’t. It’s room 90?” Rea blushed. “I’ve only ever looked at the map for the headmaster’s office..” she looked embarrassed, lowering her head and making herself small. “Could you maybe help me?”
-
“Right.” Rea answered, wishing she didn’t have to be inside. Night would be falling soon, and she liked to watch the moon rise, and go out running. She took the powder and tucked it into a pouch strapped to her hip. Next to the pouch was a dog demon’s fang, sharpened into a blade and embedded into a hilt.
-
Rea nodded to herself, following her nose to the heavily scented room. “Hello? I have a note from the lady in the office…” she held it out nervously.
-
Rea did as she was told, tucking her ears and tail away. “Now what?” she asked, still holding the note she had been given. “Should I go see the charms girl?”
-
Rea took the note, nodding. “Three days. I’ve been keeping track.”
-
Rea shrugged. “I had an older brother, but he went out on the full moon trapped in his wolf form and got shot.” she said it nonchalantly, but there was hurt in her voice. “That’s why I’m coming so late. I had to steal his body to burn it, or his spirit would’ve been trapped. And… I can’t stay here. I won’t fit in, and you don’t have the facilities for a full moon with me. I haven’t got it quite under control yet, the wolf.”
-
Rea frowned again her irritation causing wolf ears and a tail to pop out. “They graduated, lady, and their familiars were fine, and then one day all four of them were gone!” she let out a huff. “Can you help me or not? It’s been seven years, took me forever to find this place.”
