Rentaro is a strong and caring person who values those close to him (friends) as if they were his family being his mother and father were killed by a wild Gastrea, he was only a young boy at the time and had no choice but to watch them get murdered in front of him because he could not save himself or them. He grew apart from others as he growing up learning the ways to fight them so he would never again have to watch anyone go through that.
