“I suppose we do.” She sits down in the snow, fully extending her feathery wings and squeaking as the tip nearly catches fire. Scooting a bit farther from the flame, she sighs. “This world has gone to total chaos. Because of those scientists.” Tears spring to her eyes as she remembers the months of torture, going silent.

“Ummmm…” She pulls out a folded up paper, reading it’s contents aloud. “1st Period: Language Arts, 2nd Period: P.E, 3rd Period: Math, 4th Period: History, 5th Period: Study Hall, 6th Period: Science. What about yours?” She sits down at the tiny desk, glancing at her camera’s display and typing a few words. Not looking back, she says sheepishly, “Sorry that I just suddenly switched gears. I thought of a bit of a story for a photo, and I wanted to jot it down before I forgot.”

“Nice to meet you, Lance.” She shakes his hand gently, looking around the room. “Let’s drop the formalities. I have no idea why males and females are roomed together, but we’ll have to figure out some mode of privacy. I study photography and writing. You?”

“Right here.” Emmaline jumps off the bed, hanging her camera around her neck. “Hi. I’m Emmaline, and I guess we’re roommates.”

Emmaline walks up to the school, pushing up her glasses and holding her camera in her hand. “Here goes nothing.” Locating her room, she pushes open the door and plops down on the bed. “I guess my roommate isn’t here yet.” She shoves her luggage in the corner, putting a small typewriter on the desk and turning on her camera, scrolling through old pictures.

    ((I don’t have a roomie yet))

“Then I supposed you can stare down those scientists no problem.” She sighs, slightly shrugging off her jacket. “I have… Bird extremities.” Emmaline pokes the tips of her feathery wings out, hissing in pain at moving them after days of being in the same position.

“Hmm?” She looks up from the fire. “Well, I have something to ask you guys. Um… Were you test subjects at BioTechZ?” She fumbles over her word, her voice barely bigger than a whisper.

“Oh my god… Finally.” She looks back at the lab, running quickly and ignoring the blood running down her arms. “It’s over… Finally.”

She rubs a hand over her arms subconsciously, seeing the little white scars.

“Sorry…” Emmaline whispers to Goji softly, standing up again and walking over to where she heard yelling. Coming upon Ares, she smiles. “Hi… Do you have any idea where we are? I mean, in the building?”

“It’d have to be something strong, strong enough to break stone. And no, Elijah, it’s not you.” Emmaline giggles softly, tracing her fingers over the concrete wall. “It seems old…”

“Somehow I doubt it… But we can try.” She trudges through the snow, extremely reluctant to have her back to Lucy due to her hidden extremities. “The world has gone to chaos. It’d be nice to have a decent person around for a change.” A feeble smile crosses her lips.

“Does it seem like I’m okay?” She trudges over, pulling a tiny knife from her belt and dropping it into the snow. “Emmaline.” Her white wings shudder against her back and she pulls her thin jacket over herself tighter, not sure who Lucy really was. “Okay means jack shit in this world. There’s no okay. Just surviving.”

“Hello? Is anyone out here that can hear me?!” Frustrated, she stands up. “I can’t just leave him here…”
