Calypsa hears Katherine over the comms, but she was not the one who called for her. She then responds, somewhat bewildered, “Attack me, sister of mine, well half-sister? For what cause? Well, I’ve already explained once, but I guess that you simply weren’t listening. I am an agent of the Council of The Nameless One, the legislative body forged by the manifestation of the Universe itself. However, as with most things, its a little bit more complicated then that. My client, Matthew Cooper, is defending Samul Tyron, head of the current majority clan on this planet, in court tomorrow over charges of murder. Should Samul Tyron, the current primary leader of Hesperia, be convicted, the Goldus Kux Clan, a faction sympathetic to the OGA cause, will come into power and we will lose this planet. We cannot let that happen. They will stop at nothing, and I mean nothing, to have Mr. Cooper withdraw his defense, as he is the second-best lawyer in the quadrant. They’ve threatened his family, him, and anyone close to him. So I’d appreciate your help in this matter. Innocent lives depend upon it.” Calypsa resumes looking over the Samul Tyron files in her hotel room, keeping her sniper rifle nearby to watch for any threats.

The Gunman looks out the window, having docked his ship with the OGA hoplite force. “They seem to have taken our beacon as bait. There weapons systems are focused on the probe. We will split our invasion strategy.” The Gunslinger pulls out both pistols, and points at a highly uniformed officer. “Sergeant Lee, you will lead the invading party in your ship through the primary docking tube at the front and bring down the shields. I will bring a select platoon in through… Forceful means. Good luck.” The Gunslinger brings his selected men into his ship and separates from the OGA Hoplite, both ships still cloaked. The Hoplite opens fire on the shields of Apollo’s base.

((Correction: Apollo’s base, not Jack’s. The Second Gunman deals with Jack.))

The Gunslinger follows the base, matching speed with it and keeping at a safe distance. His ship is cloaked to avoid detection, and he analyzes structural weaknesses. Finally, he comms to an OGA handler, “Hello. This is Gamma-7, requesting an immediate hoplite intercept at these coordinates.” The Gunslinger punches in the predicted intercept coordinates with Jack’s base. “I’ll be leading the siege myself…”

Calypsa comms the others. ”Where are all of you? The trial is in three days, and we need to make sure that Samul, Matthew, and their families are secure. I’ve been waiting for six hours, and none of you showed. Or do I need to remind you how dangerous our situation is?” Calypsa lowers the comm-unit, waiting for a response as she looks annoyedly at Matthew and Samul, who are sitting across from her. “I’m sorry, you two. I knew that I should have brought along my regular consultants, but orders are indeed orders,”

Ozymandias stands in front of a mirror, his eyes bloodshot and his veins visible beneath his skin, glowing black. He leans onto a chair, alone in his throne room, while his pawns scurry about, preparing for the oncoming Second Wave. Suddenly, he shouts, “SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP!” He clutches his head, his hairs standing on end. “I know that you hate me… But I’m doing this for us. I am… And for our wife and child. No. No. I’m not him. I’m not! I SWORE THAT I NEVER WOULD BE!” Caught up in his rage, the lights around Ozymandias spark and break, and everything, all the tables and the like explode onto their sides. “So much power. So many ghosts…”

Both Gunmen have returned to theit own ships, and are sitting in small, pale rooms, a table at the center. A chessboard sits upon the table, and a hologram of the opposite gunman sits across from the other as they play chess against one another, separated by a million miles. Small robotic appendages stick out of the wall in the pale blue-green room, spraying and repairing the damage to their exteriors. Wires are connected to their spines. The Second Gunman moves his white bishop forward. “Bishop forward. Jack is quite indestructible. I will most likely have to resort to a more… Sharpened strategy. Recommendations?” The Gunslinger moves his black queen forward, taking the Bishop. The wires extending into his spine briefly glow a static blue. “Alive is tricky. Limb removal might work. Decapatation would be more effective. But less cost-effective. Any recommendations for my tactical approach to the Ascendii goons?” The Second Gunman tilts his head, and uses a pawn to take the Queen. “Check. An effective sacrifice. Hostages. Take one of the non-Ascendii. Not the child with dolls. The Ascendii, due to his attachment, will be forced to yield.” The Gunslinger almost seems to smile beneath his bandana. “Yes, quite.” He moves his rook forward. “You’re getting slow, brother. Checkmate.” Both stand, and the comm link ends.

Odysseus harks to something, and looks at Faye. “We will speak more later, but right now… You are my only hope. And trust me when I tell you this. I do not say that as Ozymandias. I am not lieing to you. So for now, hold your faith. Return to the others.” Time resumes around Faye.

An echo rings out in Katherine’s head, tugging at the back of her mind. “Find Calypsa.”

Odysseus looks at Faye with sad eyes. “I ask forgiveness. I know that I will most likely never forgive myself for what Ozymandias has done… For what he might do. I’m resisting with everything that I have. But we’re like two puppets with their strings tied together… And if I pull too hard, everything snaps… No, but if you can forgive me, you above all the others, maybe… Do you know the one thing that will be able to set us, the heroes, apart from the OGA? The one thing? Forgiveness. Ozymandias is a being of hate. He never forgave, and he never forgot… That terrible day.” Odysseus trails off, and he returns to the vase of White Tulips.

Dorian, Matthew’s brother, chuckles lightly. “I don’t even know where my brother is, but perhaps you can help me? Did they memtion a location? If so, I’ll take you there.”

The man stands up, glancing at Pandora and holding his broken nose. “No, I’m his brother. Thank you for saving me. Who are you?”

Odysseus scoffs. “Lies. All of it. Genetic Advancement?! Is that what they told you?! That was a ploy by Midzog. Other names were used to. Order for Generational Architects. Outlook Guardian Alliance. OGA has only one true meaning though, one that Ozymandias always planned. One of his little ironies. No, now OGA means this: Ozymandias Genocidal Army. Only capable of one thing; destruction. And yet… You are rather special. You were the unexpected variable.” Odysseus pauses. “Do you believe in forgiveness?”

Odysseus turns to Faye, and looks at her questioningly and yet with an odd air of hope in his voice, not entirely placed in the question but what would come next. “Why do you… Did you… believe in the OGA?”

The Second Gunman stands erect, half of his external she’ll cracked and deformed, but he still functions properly. He spits out a synthetic tooth and a black liquid on the ground, and lifts up his flamethrower, briefly sending the fire into Jack’s eyes and temporarily blinding him. When Jack’s sight is restored, the Second Gunman is gone.

Odysseus looks at Faye, pausing again. ”I’m not begging. I would never beg. And I am not the one who ordered the destruction of those worlds. You don’t understand. Ozymandias did these things, not me. I tried to stop him and… I failed. I never wanted to become this.” Odysseus walks to a nearby vase, tenderly touching a white tulip’s petals and contemplating it. “I swore that I never would become him…”
