Hey does anyone have advice for making a good fan character? Specifically a fan troll but general help is much appreciated.
I want to be unique and realistic without being excessive or a Mary Sue -
Horatio: Oh… I’m so sorry to hear that. Who’s taking care of you then? You must live around here, right?
-
Horatio: Don’t sweat it, you can’t be too careful around here after all. *looks out of the door behind the girl* Do your parents know you’re out here?
-
Horatio: *has stopped at the remains of an abandoned house a few miles away from the camp to catch his breath and rest for a minute. He takes a box of matches and a stale chocolate bar from the kitchen.*
-
Horatio: Good idea, it’s hard to tell what you might come across out there. I’ll take the ice sword too then.

name:Horatio Giovanni
age: 17
bio: Horatio was a soldier in the war from the time he was 12. After the war ended, his legion was virtually deserted by the government and had to get home themselves. He’s still trying to return to his hometown and find his family. Horatio is brave and honest, but his brashness often puts him in danger.
side: Good
looks: Curly hair cut into a faux hawk, medium dark skintone, wears camouflage army uniform, and dark red scarf (gift from his mother when he left for the war) -
Karkat looked around upon hearing his name, spotting Eridan, he clenched his teeth. Of course the highbloods had managed much better on earth than the lowbloods had. They always had it so much easier, on Alternia because they were considered superior, on Earth because they were wealthier. “The warehouse laid me off” he growled, holding the kitten he’d previously despised close to him, seeing how it was the only thing he could really say belonged to him at the moment. “What are you doing here?”

L just watched as the girl left, not bothering to pull away from Cecil. He was a little grateful, since her demands had been getting a bit much, but he still felt bad. He sat back in his seat and set the computer aside, picking up his coffee cup again. “Hello Callie.” He glanced at the panicking boy a few tables down, who was clearly scared of the newcomer, and decided to keep his distance this time. “Cake?” He said, holding the plate out to Cecil.

Having paid the man at the counter and gotten the drink Jane wanted, ((sorry for speeding up time, K@B, I didn’t know what else to do ;_;)) L set the cup down beside her at the table and smoothed down her hair comfortingly “It’s alright, no one got hurt. You can borrow my computer if you want”
-
“Yes, I only met her a few minutes ago.” L said, reaching down to remove the tiara before she had another fit or something. He decided he’d head home after this, maybe go for a walk. The whole situation was giving HIM a headache.

Nearby, the lid to a dumpster abruptly flew open, as if it had been punched from inside, and a flurry of raccoons and feral cats jumped out and skittered down the alley in the morning light. “Fucking furbeasts!” Karkat exclaimed, tossing out a final grey kitten from his makeshift home. The small animal failed to land on its feet and hit the ground with a startled cry. A moment later, the troll himself climbed out of the large bin, bleary eyed and in a pretty bad mood. He hadn’t eaten in a few days and it was making him increasingly grumpy. He brushed the bits of trash off of his clothes, the same sweater and pants he’d worn when he was six sweeps old, they were kind of tight now. He’d ditched the shoes months ago. As he walked out onto the street, the little grey kitten limped after him, rubbing against his bare ankle and mewling pitifully. He sighed and picked it up, and it immediately began purring.
-
“Oh, right.” L said, blinking in confusion at the sudden change in her attitude. “Have you decided what you want?” He motioned for her to follow him as he went over to the counter, picking up Cecil’s phone and handing it back to him with a slightly apologetic expression.
-
L looked surprised as the girl started glowing and laughing. That was entirely unexpected, he felt a little chagrined at having misjudged her as innocent. “Are you alright?” He said dubiously, standing up in case he had to run for it.

((Yeah, I see your point there. OK NEW RULE, AND THIS ONE IS NONNEGOTIABLE:))
Violent characters are allowed, but if you kill someone, you must either change to a new character or leave the group.
((Please check the group description for the new guidelines, they’re there to protect you))
