Charlotte arrived late to the gym. There were so many new students. She looked around for some familiar faces, but the only kids she recognized were about to leave the gym. She straightened her skirt, and walked over to a bench to sit down.

Charlotte smiled at byrne, “alright. Well I’m gonna head out to the store to get something of Miwa, if you’d like to come with me.” She stood up slowly and turned toward him.

Charlotte looked a Byrne, she could tell he was upset. She wanted to say something to him to help calm him down, but it was her turn to choose a name from the hat. She took out the crumpled paper and read the name, it was Miwa. She had no clue who the fuck that was… So she turned back to Byrne to put the secret Santa on the back burner. “Everything alright?”

Charlotte blushed and smiled at Byrne. “Yeah, he seems pretty serious about all of this secret Santa stuff…” Then she looked over at the new kid. “I’m Charlotte. It’s a pleasure to meet you. This school will keep you on your toes.”

Charlotte blushed and moved her hand towards Byrne’s, motioning that she wanted him to hold it. She looked to her side and saw wraith. “Um, so secret Santa, all the teachers got kicked out, and if you don’t show Christmas spirit you have to write an essay… Usual Christmas stuff…”

Charlotte walked into the gym. Almost immediately she saw Byrne, he’s kinda hard to miss. She walked over to him. “Hey, do you know what’s going on with all of this?” It seemed a little off that everyone had to meet in the gym instead of going to classes. Charlotte just hope it wasn’t an athletic event… She was very bad a sports.

Charlotte picked his things up for him. “I’m Charlotte.” She looked down at her phone, it was already morning. “Hey, it was nice meeting you, but i gotta get ready for class. I hope to see you around.” Charlotte gave a half smile and walked back to her dorm. Once in her dorm, she threw off her pjs and put on a little black dress. She liked to keep it classy, it made up for the fact she was awkward as hell and was as coordinated as a llama. She left her hair up in the bun. Charlotte threw a pop tart (hot fudge Sunday obviously) into the toaster, and poured a glass of milk. While she waited on her breakfast, she grabbed her backpack. She put the strap across her shoulders. The pop tart then popped out of the toaster. She chugged the milk, and left. On her way to the main hall, she finished her pop tart. It was really fucking sunny.

After a while of wandering Charlotte found her self near a road. She saw a new kid, like herself, trying to gather his things off the side walk. She approached him slowly, “um, excuse me but do you need any help? I’m fairly new here too.”

Charlotte couldn’t stay asleep. She kept having the dream again. The one where she couldn’t keep the voices out, and they threw her into the psych ward again.  Charlotte felt nauseous, she needed to get out. So, she threw on sweats, then put her hair up into a messy bun. Charlotte walked into the kitchen. She opened the cabinets, and pulled out  a tea bag. Carefully, she filled her mug up with water, microwaved it, and took the hot mug out. While the tea was steeping, Charlie went off to grab her jacket. The one she found wasn’t heavy but it would do. She grabbed her keys, and her full mug, and left. Once she was outside, she began to wander. It was cold, but it was relaxing as hell. There were whispers from spirits every now and again. Charlotte would say hello, but nothing more. She just needed to clear her head.

“Goodnight Byrne.” Charlotte leaned in and hugged him as tight as she could.  “I’ll see you  tomorrow, hopefully.” She  smiled and let go of Byrne. Charlotte then turned around to walk home.

As soon as Charlotte got home she put on a big t shirt and crawled in bed. She grabbed her computer off the nightstand. It was dead. Charlotte put it back and turned over in bed. She felt her mom’s presence in the room. “Are you ok dear?” Mom was like a whisper, but it wasn’t to quiet for Charlotte to hear. “I’m just tired. Guess parties aren’t my thing.” Mom didn’t respond, her spirit seemed to fade away. Charlotte didn’t give it much thought, she just feel asleep.

“It’s just over there.” Charlotte pointed to the dorms straight ahead.  “And I know you’re not one to talk about feelings, but are you positive you’re alright. I hate to pry, but I don’t want you to bottle stuff up… It’s not healthy. I know what it’s like.”

“I guess you’re right.” Things had seemed to died down back at the party but it was still raining. Byrne was still frowning. “Are you alright?” She didn’t want to continue walking. Instead, she just stood in the rain waiting for Byrne’s response.

“yeah, I guess.” Charlotte said. She then heard the echoing voice from the gym, and saw the storm brewing overhead. “What the fuck is going on back there?” It began to pour. There was a loud crack, and a flash of light. The gym had caught on fire. Charlotte stumbled and grabbed her head. “Shit… the spirits are predicting death. I have to go back and do something.” She looked at Byrne. “You wanna come to? I could use a strong guy to help me save a few lives. Plus, I’m not that strong.” Charlotte gave a half smile, and held his hand a little tighter.

“It’s fine,” she said while she gave a half smile. “Well if we aren’t gonna stay, would you mind walking me back to my room? I sure wouldn’t mind having a warrior by my side, because you never know what kind of shit is outside.”  great, first you call him babe, then you ask him to walk you back to your room… way to come on strong. But, I mean, he did call you princess… Charlotte was right, maybe she did come off strong. But, in her defense, all she knews about social skills was from netflix.

((sorry for the absence had some family stuff to deal with, thank god everything’s good now and that I’m back))

Charlotte stepped up to Byrne. she was unafraid of the flames, and what he had become. In Charlie’s life she’s not only had to deal with freaky shit, but her fair share of scary, awfully mean, people. The mental hospital her dad threw her in when he founf out about her powers wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. The experience gave her courage, and although she was still anxious, made her unafraid of some situations. She rested her hand on his shoulder. “B-babe,” she blushed, “calm down. it’s fine. This music isn’t half bad, and it  woke me up a bit.” She put her other hand on his other shoulder, and turned him around. “Take a deep breath. Cool off, literally,” charlie smiled at her little pun, “and if you want to we can leave, or we can get back on that dance floor.” She paused for a second while she awaited his response… but then she remembered something, “and don’t worry, I actually don’t mind ‘princess’.”
