“Eh, better than before.” Snidely stands up, rolling his shoulders back, “Come on, lets go. When we get there, make sure not to wander around.”

Snidely watches her walk into the house then sits on the curb hunched over.

Snidely sighs, feeling as if he may come to regret this decision, “I’m not going to let you hurt my reputation, so go change, not everyone there is as nice as me, so don’t act so happy.” He rolled his shoulders back, “Anyway if you get hurt, I’m not responsible.”

Snidely sighs and digs around in his pocket for a minuet, then produces a butterfly knife an hands it to Fern, “This is New Cock, not your little suburb, its different.” He began to walk, “You should loose the church girl look. If you’re gonna come, meet me at the L train to Henhattan.”

“We?” Snidely says as he regains his composure, “No way in hell, you’ll never be able to handle it.”

Snidely nods, “There was a raid, they killed the leader and 2 other people…” he covers his face with his wing in anguish, “What the fuck am I supposed to do…?”

Snidely slams his wing against the wall, “FiveFeather killed Talon…” He hissed, then pulled his wing away, cradling it with the other, traces of blood visible on the wall, “…And that leaves me as the leader of RootPhoenix…. Fuck!”

Snidely glances back at her and sighs, “Listen, kid… I’m not like that, you’ve lived here your whole life, you don’t understand how the world works.” His phone beeps and he reaches his wing into his pocket to pick it up, “Yes?” he spoke into it. On the other end there was the sound of unintelligible clucking from a male chicken with a somewhat high voice, then a crash. Snidely violently shoved the phone back in his pocket and hissed “Shit…!”

Snidely pulls his wing away, resisting the urge to hit her back, knowing that if he did he would probably hurt her, he tucks it back in his pocket, “what do you want from me?”

“So… Um, are you ready?” Nagisa asks, scratching his arm timidly.

Snidely sighs and stands up, putting a wing in his pocket, “Listen, kid, you don’t tell me what to do, no one does, and I don’t care who you are, you don’t matter.” He hisses in a low voice then walks out of the church, slamming the door behind him.

Snidely clicks his tongue and says with a quietly authoritative voice, “Maybe you should learn your place, kid, you don’t even know who I am.”
