“Ok, but I trust your abilities,” Skvaada replied as she waited for her hair to finish bleaching and tried to hold relatively still so Zembra could put in the hair dye evenly. The whole process certainly appeared to require some finesse. “Is it hard to dye your hair by yourself? It seems quite difficult to put in a specific design.” Once Zembra was finished, the land dwelling troll shot her friend a slightly nervous yet hopeful grin. “How does it look?”
-
Skvaada’s eyes widened at Zembra, taking a moment to process the sensational news before realizing that her friend appeared to be expecting an answer to her question. “I’d like stripes on the tips, please. And… since you did say any color is okay.” She paused for a moment before deciding to do something daring. After all, this was a crazy day of inviting relative strangers to her hive, rebelling against lusii, making new friends and visiting a seadweller’s hive when she was unable to swim. Giving her new friend a conspiratorial smile, she asked, “Could I please have white and pink stripes?”

The delight of having a full set of silverware for the first time in two weeks was powerful, and she managed to stifle the urge to cackle with glee like some b-horror evil scientist movie villain as she saw the printer begin to produce cutlery of all kinds, including some fancy seadweller implement that she had never seen before. No more drinking soup from a glass or ripping apart her food like some vulgar, uncouth brute. From now on, she could be perfectly refined and polished!
And then Zembra had to reveal her box filled with hair dyes. “Oh. Oh my. You have…quite the selection of colors.” Oh sweet honey iced tea, why!? “Umnn…” She lifted a slightly shaking hand towards the box of colors while her mind went into overdrive. She could choose the indigo-colored dye as befitting her status, but the cooler colors called to her. How much harm would there be in choosing purple or violet or even…no. Pink or fuschia was just too much. She couldn’t deal with the shame of openly admitting her depravity to the world. To even think of wearing the colors of Her Imperial Condescension…the sheer debauchery of it all! But, to choose simple indigo felt like a failure, like a missed opportunity somehow. A trickle of sweat slid down the back of her neck.
“….”
‘….”
“How about white?” Skvaada asked, plucking the white bottle very carefully out of the box. “Which color do you want?” -
Skvaada gave Zembra a congratulatory grin, “You had me worried for a moment, there.” Still, that was pretty good strifing for someone who was only just breaking in a new weapon, she internally admitted. “So, it looks like you got your answer about the scythe if it can stop a charging lusus! So do you only use scythekind or do you have more than one specibus?”
The troll was eager to ‘hang out’ with another troll instead of just holing up by herself. Oh, they were going to have so much fun dying hair, making jewelry, and just relaxing. She couldn’t help but wonder whether Zembra had any colors of dye other than violet. For an indigo-blood to dye her hair violet would be so…deliciously scandalous and depraved. Skvaada’s pointy toothed grin remained in full force, “Oh and good job by the way!”

“Oh shoot,” Skvaada cursed as her newly found friend was slammed against the wall of the underwater hive by her own lusus, after attempting to assert her superiority. From the disoriented look on Zembra’s face, that last attack had hurt.
“Come on, Zembra! You can not let him get away with that!” At least she could offer some moral support.
Normally, the indigo blood’s first instinct would be to help Zembra, but two facts stopped her. The first was that she was reluctant to get involved in a strife between a troll as their lusus. The shark was very unlikely to seriously injure his ward. The second was that Skvaada was NOT a seadwelling troll. Strifing underwater would be a huge disaster!
“Show your lusus who is boss! You can do it!” Although, she had faith in her friend, Skvaada scrolled through her sylladex until she found something to use as a back-up plan, just in case.

Riley looked up from attempting to chew antennae sized holes in her olive green cap as a few other Pokémon started to wake up. The couple of Pokémon who appeared to know what was going on were talking to the new-comers, and her sensitive feelers couldn’t help but pick up every word. That Loudred was really…loud. They were also throwing a bag around that seemed important. More importantly, apparently not all of the Pokémon here were once humans!?
While the Medicham was talking to the Leafeon, Riley decided to try and strike up a conversation with the Rotom. It seemed like the Rotom was once a human too. Maybe they could compare notes until the “true” Pokémon felt like explaining things. She took the opportunity to test out her new body. The enormous polygonal wings were a little too small and light to make flying natural. Riley rose off of the ground a few inches, but underestimated how hard she needed to flap her developing wings to maintain altitude. The Vibrava quickly plummeted into the ground, crash-landing a bit next to the Rotom.
“Woo, guess I’m going to have to work on that some more but at least I got over here,” Riley commented as she pulled herself up and shook off dirt and disturbed grass. “Howdy there, my name is Riley! Uh, as weird as it sounds I actually used to be a human. What’s your name?”
-
“What!?” The startled shout came out as a slightly high-pitched squeak as the plexiglass floor beneath shook with the force of the shark’s ramming attack. The land-dwelling troll allowed herself to skid back from the force a half-step instead of digging in her feet and possibly compromising the integrity of the floor.
“Zembra,” she started taking a gulp of nervous breath as she regained her balance, “Perhaps now is an opportune moment to mention that I am not a particularly STRONG swimmer.”
She risked a look down to see what had just attacked the hive, and whether any cracks had appeared in the floor.
“Please tell me your floor will– oh my!” Skvaada caught sight of the upset shark preparing another ramming attack. “That is not a happy lusus. Will you need your scythe,” she asked, handing over the weapon. -

Tristan shrugged in response. It didn’t seem like she regretted not attracting the attention of an Alpha, so he didn’t try to chime in with encouragement. “Yeah, I got stuck with a membership to this place because my sister wanted me to hang out and meet people as well. I think she’s secretly hoping I’ll find a nice Alpha or Beta to date,” He pulled a rueful face before shooting his companion a conspiratorial grin, “Hah. Like that’s ever going to happen.” Really, he was quite proud of his ability to avoid the Alphas in his college classes so far. The Beta leaned back a bit, relaxing into the booth before noticing that the Omega had no drink or snack. “So…do you want a drink or something? I’m about to switch to just soda, but don’t tell anyone. It’s no problem to get something for you while I’m up.”

The Vibrava gaped at the fact that she could understand the two Pokemon in front of her before processing their words.
“My name’s Riley, and wait, I’m a Pokemon!? How did this happen, I remember being a human!”
Frowning, and fluttering the enormous wings on her back, Riley tilted her head in confusion while she tried to puzzle out what had happened. “I think… I think I was listening to music online back home when I fell asleep and then woke up here.” The cap slid off of her head and the Pokemon got distracted again, “Oh hey! This came with me!”
-
A small green bug-like Pokemon known as a Vibrava hissed as a loud voice cruelly cut through the pleasant dream she had been having of warm sunlight and the high-pitched keening of violin strings.
“Please, please be quiet! So loud!” Riley whined as the shout caused a sharp pain between her eyes. Rolling to an upright position, Riley looked around and frowned to herself when she noticed large blades of grass at eye level. Either the forest was large, or she was very low to the ground…
Something behind her fluttered lazily, and Riley quickly tries to turn her head only to find that she was lacking a neck! Feeling aggravated, she twisted around and caught sight of a long pale tail tipped with diamond shaped chitin plates quickly whip out of sight. “What in tarnation is that!?”
The Vibrava then began to chase her tail for a few moments, distracted from the Pokemon who had just woken her up.

Skvaada entered the hive curiously, noticing the flashing computer screens and the printer while trusting that the room would not spontaneously flood or be intruded on by an aggravated lusus. “Oh, that must be the scythe you alluded to earlier.” The troll walked over to the scythe and picked it up curiously. A gentle fingering of the point created a small cut leaking a drop of indigo blood. She hastily wiped it on a corner of her black shirt. “Well, it’s certainly sharp enough to make a good weapon. Mind if I test it?”
-
Tristan grinned as the shy Omega in front of him responded. She was speaking pretty softly, just a little too hard to hear but he smiled encouragingly nonetheless. “So you’re new here too, then?” He thought for a moment and then took a sip of his mixed drink. “Well, now we both know at least one person here. Do you plan on coming, often then?” A thought occurred to the Beta, “You aren’t waiting for anyone are you? I wouldn’t want to take your spot or anything.”

“Yeah, an encounter between out lusii would be most unfortunate. Your hive is pretty cool, though,” Skvaada complimented as they began to descend towards the part of the boat indicated. “Did you sink that boat yourself, or just have your hive built like that?” The winged lusus let out a screech of protest against landing so low down and close to the water. With much persuasion, the beast was coerced into hovering a few feet above the highest point of the seadweller’s hive. With an exasperated sigh, Skvaada dismounted, swinging one leg across the bird’s feathery neck before sliding down her lusus’ side to the tip of its feet and then jumping off onto her friend’s hive.
