(True Heirs HQ-> Peace Keepers HQ)
Adrian shrugged, “As long as you’re helpful. Worse comes to worse, you look like you’d make a good distraction, zippy.” He folded his arms, and looked out the window sullenly to hide his inner discontent at the prospect of harassing the Peace Keeper HQ. On the other side, it would give him a chance to see what was going on beyond the True Heirs HQ.
Brielle merely cocked her head to the side, “Vague as always…”
Sandstream took the whole encounter in stride, grinning at the prospect of a new travel companion. “YAY!” She bounced up and down excitedly, looking as though she wanted to fly around. “Scouting mission, scouting mission!” The Gligar stilled for a moment, her eyes narrowing with realization as she cast a furtive look about the car. “We’ve got to be sneaky, Mister Quilava.”
Adrian responded with a grumble, inwardly praying that the ground pokemon wouldn’t start humming ‘spy music’ again. Of course, his prayers were not answered.
Gaelan, meanwhile directed Ryuu to change their course and gave a rueful shrug, “Well, I suppose we are stuck with you now. You can come along if you like. An enemy of an enemy is a friend.” -
Gaelan sighed, “Glad to know you’re a trustworthy fellow at least,” he muttered sarcastically before getting down to business, “Well it seems like the Peace Keepers have been a bit more active than usual. They’ve been doing some heavy recruiting or something, so we should go check it out.”
The trainer grinned, revealing a large set of teeth, “It shouldn’t be too hard. Just go there, do some reconnaissance. Find out who they are, what they know and if we see an opportunity to knock them down a peg, we take it.”
Brielle frowned slightly, “Hopefully we won’t have to fight them, right Gaelan? Also, what do you mean ‘that one guy’? Have you made some sort of enemy we should know about?”
-
Gaelan chuckled at the sheer amount of sass coming out of the Quilava in the backseat. One minute, it was complaining about Pokémon unfriendly to fire types lurking in Hoenn, the next minute he was openly badmouthing legendary Pokémon of all creatures.
“That would be pretty amusing if the legendary Pokémon were turning into humans. Heh, I wonder what will happen if they start losing their powers, too. ” It was fun to speculate on such things to take his mind off of the monotonous landscape rushing by the car windows.
Then, Gaelan’s PokeNav started chiming a tune, provoking a delighted Sandstream into chanting along with the small machine “Ring Ring Ring, Ring Ring Ring, Phone Call! Phone Call!” Gaelan hurriedly answered the call, frowning slightly as a muffled voice warbled through the device’s speakers. O
“I understand. Got it. We’ll look into it.” With a crisp snap, Gaelan snapped the device off.

<True Heirs –> Hoenn >
Gaelan sighed, starting to get bored from the long drive, and boredom made him impatient and impulsive. He fiddled with his PokeNav, flicking through the various texts, messages and information streaming in from True Heirs surveillance and intelligence. “Well, it seems like the Rightful Inheritants have been fairly quiet lately,” he muttered to no one in particular before turning to face Ryuu. “You mentioned legendary Pokémon aggravating the disease. Does that mean the wild Pokémon are behind all of this!?”
-
Gaelan shrugged, “If you’re sure you’ll be alright,” he was worried about his ally but this was her car and since he actually had never owned a car before, it would probably be the best if she did drive. Yielding the driver’s seat he used the opportunity to lean over the back of the car seat and give Jason an exasperated look. “Now you’re just exaggerating. It could be much, much worse. At least we’re not headed to the Orange Islands.” A slightly malicious grin grew on his face as the car started up and pulled out of the True Heirs HQ. “Who knows, maybe we should go! Fire types like the sun, right?” <Gaelan ->General>

I had just finished filing a Partner Registration Form at the front desk (it was surprising that they only seemed to want our names and class, I was expecting them to require a bit more information) and was heading over to the cafeteria when Meg ran into me, her face red and in general looking rushed. My eyes widened as I took in my partner’s appearance. Back in the classroom she seemed awfully tough, but clearly something had happened in the cafeteria to make her rush out. Could it be…was she getting bullied?
“Don’t worry about it.” There was an awkward pause as the Meister looked down at her feet. Should I ask her what happened, or would that just make her more upset? “Is the food in the cafeteria really that awful?” I wasn’t very good at making humorous remarks, and I felt the awkwardness increase as my joke fell flat. “Umn, listen. We can ditch the cafeteria if you want to. There’s a hot-dog stand in the city we can eat at.”
-
Brielle maintained her fierce gaze on Jason for a few heartbeats more before settling into a more relaxed stance, looking not wholly convinced but a little more welcoming. “Well as long as you don’t start burning the place down for kicks or something, I guess we can be alright, matchstick.” She shot him a sly smile that suggested she hadn’t and wouldn’t be letting the Weed-eater comment go. “You can tell us about your visit during the drive.”
Gaelan smiled, “Excellent! Let’s get ready to go then.” With the help of Brielle, Adrian and Sandstream, enough food for a week was stashed in the trunk of the car along with some extra clothes and camping gear. Finally the group was ready to go: Adrian sat by a window with Sandstream on his lap and Brielle in the middle leaving a space by the window for Jason. When the Pokémon were seated in the car, the trainer turned to Ryuu and said, “I hope you don’t mind, but I think I should drive. You look like you could use some rest,” as a nice way of saying that he was worried she’d start coughing up blood while driving and get even worse/accidently get them into an accident.

“Sure,” I responded, eager to get some lunch. I took a moment to focus on my human form, the blade glowing blue again before the light flickered and died down again. “Uhh,” I replied,” That doesn’t normally happen. Let me try it again.” Once more, the light flickered and dimmed.
“… ” What was there to say? Quashing down the feelings of mortification and mild frustration, I took another breath and focused once more on turning human again so we could grab our stuff and go to the cafeteria.
This time, the transformation worked, and there was a brief, exhilarating transition period of being weightless and pure soul before I returned fully back to human form. I flashed Meg a slightly self-conscious smile, “Sorry about that! I forgot to decide a place to transform to. ”We grabbed our stuff and headed over to the cafeteria along with the rest of the students to get some lunch in between our classes. Right at the entrance of the cafeteria I stopped and snapped a finger in realization. ” Oh yeah! We should probably let our teachers know we’re going to be partners now. I’ll go get a registration form from the front desk! Please save me a seat in there!” The sooner we got registered, the sooner we could get training and sign up for missions and such. Fueled by new-found enthusiasm I dashed off !

Sandstream just giggled happily, “I wanna be out exploring again! And we’re gonna go too!! We’re going to Hoenn! It’ll be fun!” The fly scorpion adjusted so that she was hanging onto Jason’s back. ” How’d you get so fast anyway!? Whatcha been doing!? Do you know any games!?”
Brielle crossed her stubby arms, looking at the Quilava skeptically, “We’ve been through a lot together as a team, and we’ll get through this too. Don’t lump us in with wild Pokémon like yourself.” Her adopted Gligar sibling seemed to take an immediate fondness to Jason but it’d take more than a simple collar for her to trust him.
Adrian decided to enter the conversation in a neutral tone, offering neither distrust nor an apology to Jason. “It’s not like I have another option, Quilava. Pokémon like myself are either born into captivity or they die out. Where else would I go? Brielle and Sandstream refuse to leave, and it has been over a million years since Kabuto roamed the land and seas. Among Pokémon trainers, I run the chance of meeting another of my kind so I stay. For now.” He paused, muttering, “Even though we won’t be able to stay here much longer…”
Gaelan’s meanwhile resumed packing up the supplies now that things had settled down somewhat. “I hope you’re a fan of traveling, because we’re leaving to Hoenn and Kanto soon to get some supplies and intel on the legendaries. ,” he remarked to Jason. ” Ryuu… I understand that you’re not feeling well (understatement of a lifetime) but you are welcome to come with if you like.”
-
Gaelan blinked at the change in demeanor and narrowed his eyes, staring the Quilava straight in the face. “Don’t even think about escaping, Jason, shock-collar or no. I’ll treat you well as long as you’re cooperative but if you start trying to double-cross us, I will not hesitate to take you down.”
He then sat up, brushing dust off of his shins, “Now that that’s over, do you have a favorite food for brunch? We just finished, but I’d be willing to make you something.”
Sandstream grinned and returned the quicksand floor to normal before gliding over to the Quilava quickly, aiming for a welcoming tackle-hug.
-
Gaelan smiled at Ryuu before sighing at the Quilava. “If you didn’t want to join, why did you come?” The trainer kneeled down slightly so that he was at eye-level with fire Pokémon, “Alright, since we’re going to be spending time together we might as well try to get along. My name’s Gaelan, this is Ryuu, Gabrielle, Adrian and Sandstream,” he said, introducing the formerly wild Pokémon to the Rocket leader, Breloom, Kabutops and Gligar respectively. “What should I call you?”

I grinned from inside my weapon form, the surrounding black shadows shifting slightly in tune to our wavelengths. They were not completely in sync yet and slightly different which was a good sign. Souls that were too similar generated weak amounts of energy, according to Stein. “I think we should definitely partner up. This is awesome!” Getting spun around at high speeds was better than a roller coaster! “Wooo!” I cheered, deciding to have a bit of fun with it.
We still needed a lot of training and practicing of course, but then again we were just rookies so that was to be expected. Who knows? Maybe we’d be allowed to go on basic missions soon to try our skills! Yeah, she dropped me but getting dropped in weapon form wasn’t nearly as terrible as falling in human form. Meg even blamed it on herself, instead of an awkward, clunky weapon and just continued on practicing. Just thinking about the techniques we were sure to come up with brought another smile to my face, and I made sure to appear on the reflection of my blade to flash Meg a thumbs up.

Ah! Good point, Tartarus.

Red eyes flashed towards the fire weasel, “Gone meaning if this collar doesn’t make you more cooperative or finish you, I’ll rip you to ribbons. I have no use for a pest like you.” He took the collar carefully from Ryuu and walked over to the Quilava.
“Sandstream, if you could hold him down…” The Gligar nodded and turned a small area of the floor underneath the Quilava to quicksand.
Adrian crossed his claws together hoping it would work. Although he was angry at the fire pokemon, he could never be so angry as to kill another Pokemon even at his trainer’s command, at least not when he wasn’t hungry.
Gaelan snapped the collar onto Jason, tempted for a brief moment to hook it too tight. He curbed that thought though and looked towards Ryuu for any further instructions on how to operate it.
-
Gaelan sighed, “Alright. Well, it’s worth a try.” He really would have to ask Ryuu where she was getting her information. She seemed to be quite the wealth of knowledge, and a valuable asset to a trainer like him, stumbling around blindly.
He turned to the fire Pokémon. “You think I’m joking, huh?” With that, he hurled the Great Ball at Quilava’s head.
