By the time the limo had reached its destination, the fanciest and most expensive hotel in Washington D.C, all of the agreements between the spokespeople of the two coffee tycoons had already been agreed upon. All that was left was for Mr. Kim to sign three sets of official paperwork printed out on lavender scented printer paper and then make the necessary phone calls. Before the elderly man could leave the limo, Mantiocre made sure to get all of the documentation properly squared away. She handed him a sleek ballpoint pen, and watched as the delegate of Costa Coffee signed his name in neat, evenly spaced letters. The Arcobaleno’s eyes never left the man’s slightly shaking hand as he skimmed through and signed each paper.

Once he was finished, Manticore looked it over and took two of the copies for herself, handing the delegate one copy of all of the paperwork back. “Well, everything seems to be in order then.” The tense atmosphere inside the limo lifted noticeably.”Have an excellent time here in America, Mr. Kim.” She flashed a toothy smile at him and the door to the limo clicked and sprung open, clearly indicating under no uncertain circumstances that their conversation was done.

Feeling slightly relieved to get away from the craziness, Mr. Kim hastened out of the limo. One of the hotel porters came over and helped the delegate with his luggage, and the two shuffled up the stairs to begin the check-in procedure. Manticore closed the door to the limo and with a nod of her head the driver continued on to the Mall. The pangolin familiar hidden during the negotiations crawled out from hiding and transformed into a cell phone. The Arcobaleno had some calls to make if she were to seriously take up the task of uncovering the culprit behind the Mortelupi assassination.

Out of seemingly nowhere, the toddler pulled out a small address book and began leafing through to look for the phone number she wanted. Delicately clicking a sequence of numbers, Manticore attempted to call one “Mercutio Mortelupi” for the first step of her investigation.

Adrian laughed a little in response to Carly’s flirtatious laugh and then simply watched while she harassed Spencer to go get dressed instead of hanging around clad only in a towel. This place was pretty crazy, he mused to himself. It was like school after he had switched the numbers of all of the lockers.

Apparently they were turning an AI computer program into a human, and since that seemed like a once in a lifetime chance to watch, he took a seat on the back of the couch where the blonde guy was sleeping and tried to peer over at the computer screen.

“This transition is going to be fun to watch,” he commented with a grin, “hey has anyone here seen The Ring?” The present situation rather reminded him of scene of the creepy girl crawling out of the TV into the real world.

Adrian blinked for a moment as his brain registered the fact that this very pretty girl was flirting with him. He grinned at the attention. Being stuck here might not be bad at all, if this was how things were going to go. Surely, he could take his time trying to get back? Or at least enjoy the dream while it lasted.

“Really? Because from where I’m standing, they look like the same place.” He chuckled softly and then continued, “So what exactly do you do here in Seattle? Besides looking beautiful, of course..”

-Name: Logan Ashford

-Description: Logan is a slim teenage man with platinum blond hair styled to be rather spiky. He wears a small dark mini-cloak over the blazer of St. Lalina school uniform. He thinks this fashion accessory makes him look dashing, but actually is just evident of poor fashion sense. Another noticeable physical feature is the stud in one ear and his perfectly manicured hands.

-Age:17

-Magical Abilities: “Necrodancer”

Through the powers of rhythm and dance, he can reanimate and control dead organic matter as well as summon, command and commune with deceased human spirits. His control over his undead followers requires that they be within hearing range of his music.

The music he plays can charm the weak-willed and unaware into dancing along to the beat of the song and forgetting their worries or current train of thought until the music is turned off or something cancels the magical effect. Getting bitten by a zombie may also cause this “Dancing Fever”.

-Any other info you’d like to share:

He is currently trying to reconcile the “creepy” nature of his magical powers with his warm personality.
The dancing aspect of his powers give him the agility and speed of a gymnast, although he has poor upper body strength.

Adrian looked at Carly with surprise at how excited and friendly she was. She didn’t seem freaked out that a strange boy had just appeared in her room, whereas most of the girls in his town would have been screaming bloody murder and throwing stuff at him.

“I’m Adrian Nightingale.” He frowned a bit when he felt as though he had seen the girl before somewhere. “You…look a little familiar.” Then an epiphany came to him, and he snapped his fingers in recognition.

“Oh! You’re that girl who runs that webshow. It’s pretty popular at my school.” He gave her a sincere smile, “Congrats on that last one, it must have been good because people talked about it all through homeroom.”

Adrian groaned and twitched a little as his mind and body disagreed about whether he should wake up. Although the teen wanted another hour of sleep or so, he found his eyes opening sluggishly. The fact that he had woken up naturally as opposed to shouting, the alarm from his clock or some other loud noise was his first clue that he wasn’t home. The second was his unfamiliar surroundings. Adrian rose and took a moment to try and get his bearing.

Name: Adrian Nightingale

Age: 17

Height: 5’10”

Appearance: A tall, gangly teenager (just barely) with a mess of brown hair gelled into haphazard spikes. Without the hair gel, he would have just barely shoulder-length hair, but he takes great pains in his appearance even if it looks ridiculous. Otherwise he has steel grey eyes and an easy grin on his face. His body is a bit oddly proportioned in that although he’s tall, Adrian is quite lean and slender instead of bulky.

Currently, he’s wearing dark jeans, a red t-shirt and a black hoodie on top which he leaves unzipped. He is also wearing a pair of large orange headphones slung around his neck, a slightly worn and faded rainbow friendship bracelet his brother made for him and a pair of heely shoes.

Personality:

Adrian is insecure about his skills, future and looks so he bluffs, boasts and brags as much as he can to hide this fact. His goals are to seek as much praise and admiration as possible, and so he often pulls out all of the stops in order to try and impress. Adrian is really willing to go the extra mile for other people if he thinks they’ll be grateful or owe him, but by no accounts would anyone who knows him call him “kind”.

Inherently selfish and exceedingly petty, he has a tendency to get on people’s nerves with his childish and immature behavior. He also is incredibly forgiving and always willing to make friends with people. Despite being fairly crafty and deceptive, Adrian is also very gullible and finds it hard to catch people when they are pulling a fast one over him.

Backstory:

Adrian works as a food delivery boy and generally acts as the responsible adult of the family to take care of his younger brother while his single mother stays out late every night attending party after party. He is quite skilled at practical housekeeping skills but keeps this a well guarded secret from his fellow classmates. Although he is talented in math and physics, Adrian’s dream is to become a pastry chef. He’s very handy in the kitchen, passed Home Economics with such flying colors that he occasionally is a TA for the class and nearly always has some sort of dessert to spoil his little brother with. To his younger brother, Adrian is a hero and he works very hard to preserve that image while his brother is watching.

The stress from managing the household and working both as a student, taking a job and a acting as a caretaker for his brother requires Adrian to let out his frustration and tension. Unfortunately he does this in unhealthy ways by acting out as his school’s resident prankster. Nearly every week, he pulls a variety of pranks which range from funny and harmless to downright vicious and dangerous. He doesn’t seem to be able to tell the difference between acceptable and unacceptable types of pranks and ends up making a nuisance of himself.

He acts a little more restrained and less mischievous around his best friend and class president, with whom he has a slight crush on. He is a little dense in this department and hasn’t yet realized the feeling is mutual. The rest of the school knows and/or suspects and is waiting for them to get together.

Cast Favorite: T-Bo or Spencer, can’t decide.

I’m an asexual for sure and haven’t made up my mind about whether I’m aromantic or not because what exactly is romance anyway??

If I had to choose a queer theme song it would be “He-man: What’s going on?”

Oh, also I’m open about it in public/ outside of the internet.

Manticore finally managed to catch up with her contact just as the elderly, finely mustachioed man she was meant to meet with was shepherded towards a waiting limo by the illusion woman she had conjured up. The baby smirked devilishly to herself, she loved startling people and took malicious joy in the reactions of others. Manticore crept after them and with just a bit of speed she managed to take her seat in the backseat of the limo moments before the old man had finished entering the limo.

The driver made sure that the esteemed contact was settled in his plush seat and had all of his luggage cared for before shutting the door and starting up the engine of the car. When the limo began to pull away from the airport, Manticore allowed her illusion to fall away and flickered into view in a nearby seat.

“Ciao, Mr. Kim,” Manticore purred as she helped herself to some wine from the inside cooler of the limo, “feel free to help yourself to some of the wine or other drinks if you like. It’s a pleasure to meet face to face at last. I trust the flight was a pleasant one?”

The man gave a startled intake of breath at the sudden appearance of the strangely dressed two year old in front of him drinking alcohol of all things! He was about to scold her for sneaking into the limo and drinking when he recognized the young lady’s voice from their phone calls and correspondence. He hesitantly asked, “You…are the one who calls herself Manticore? My adviser warned me you had an unusual appearance, but…”

Manticore smirked at him and raised her glass in acknowledgement, “Indeed, I’m Manticore. You can now understand why I wished to discuss business with you in private. Please, don’t let my age distract you.” She took a sip of the wine, grateful that the curse at least hadn’t ruined her sense of taste and then placed the glass aside. This gave Mr. Kim a moment to gather his wits about him.

“Now,” she began after a while, “if I recall correctly, Starbucks Coffee Company and Costa Coffee have had quite the ompetition in Europe.” The businessman across from her nearly groaned at the vast understatement of her words but continued to listen quietly.

“Well, I have recently acquired Starbucks and I would be the first to admit that you have beaten us and rightly won your territory in the UK. I would have us put aside our past disagreements and rivalry and move to work together, like brothers in the same family.”

The man gaped at the tiny infant in front of him. One of his major competitors just giving in and withdrawing from their age old cut-throat competition just like that? It sounded too good to be true, so he asked in a hesitant and suspicious voice, “What would this entail?”

The smirk on the two year old’s face was devious and the temperature within the limo must have dropped a few degrees as a suffocating aura saturated with avarice engulfed the two business owners as she began to explain the exact terms of their agreement.

Manticore nodded at Bell’uomo as he gave his farewells, and bowed back when he nodded his head. “Ciao, happy hunting.” With a soft glow of light, Carmen transformed back into her skateboard form, and a light sparked in the Arcobaleno’s eyes. She tossed the skateboard onto the ground, quickly flipping the board before landing on it. Her stubby little legs quickly kicked out at the ground beneath her, and the little infant upon the skateboard was off.

She decided to try grinding on the railing of the moving walkway since it wasn’t like any of these fools besides Bell’uomo would be able to do anything to stop her or even remember her presence long enough to notice. The board made not even the slightest squeak as she rode along the thin bar of the railing. A few pedestrians with baggage were walking down and startled at what they felt as a sudden draft as Manticore avoided hitting them by performing a misty flip off of the railing and landing on the moving walkway next to them. She used the people walking or patiently waiting to be pushed forward as obstacles and skated her way past all of them, unable to hide the wide smirk on her face.

She would reach the pick-up point in no time at this rate.

The pangolin wagged its scaly tail happily and made a pleased squeak. Just because she was an animal didn’t mean she was impervious to flattery, and the man had certainly gotten onto her good books with the comment. Carmen and Manticore sat in silence for a good moment, letting the hustle and bustle of people hurrying past to get to their flights in time and the constant hum of crowded humanity be the only noise. After a few minutes had passed, the sultry yet rhythmic tune of Bizet’s Habanera chimed in 8-bit from the sleeping Arcobaleno.

The pangolin was about to try and paw her way into the man’s lap and see how good her “cuteness” was for extorting some pets or scratches when the Arcobaleno’s ringtone began. Carmen turned to face her partner with expectant eyes, and when the infant failed to wake up and check her phone, the pangolin’ eyes narrowed in concentration. A second went by as Carmen simply stared at Manticore’s face before suddenly flicking her tongue and hitting the sleeping Arcobaleno square on the tip of her nose at a seemingly lightning-fast speed. Manticore snapped awake at the assault and rubbed the struck nose with her hand, all the while glaring at the offending creature.

“Carmen,” she hissed threateningly, “there better—” The Arcobaleno broke off of her threat when she heard the chime of her phone, and diverted her attention to pull the phone out of her sleeve and glance at it before switching the alarm off. The beast licked the illusionist’s face as a tender apology for the rude awakening and received some scratching underneath the two scales just behind her ears in return.

Manticore then gathered her composure and wariness back together before she turned to the man sitting beside her and sighed, “I can tell you’ve met my partner, Carmen, already. Hopefully, you didn’t allow her anywhere near your pockets?” The rhetorical question was coupled with a raise of the eyebrows implying that he was an idiot, if he had done so. In answer, Carmen tried to lick the man’s cheek in a friendly gesture. Hmph, even Carmen likes this guy? She isn’t normally a fan of mafiosos, Manticore thought to herself before continuing.

“It was interesting to chat with you, Mortelupi but it seems my contact has arrived and I must go meet with him. Just so you aren’t caught unawares, I’ll dispel the illusion here as soon as I am out of sight.”

The Arcobaleno didn’t want to accidentally mislead the mafia boss into thinking he was still concealed once she departed.

Carmen the pangolin noticed the man sitting beside her partner and blinked her two charcoal colored eyes at Bell’uomo inquisitively. Manticore had fallen asleep and left him in her illusion of concealment, so he couldn’t have been deemed an immediate threat. Instead he looked even relaxed when the presence of Arcobaleno tended to intimidate or disturb most mafioso. It was rare for Manticore to spend time with other people, so it was unusual to see her content enough to talk to someone who wasn’t a subordinate around the time of her daily nap.

The scaly beast curled and flipped so that she could shuffled closer to the man, her nose detecting the faint scent of rich wine and dog fur. Manticore mumbled sleepily at the movement when her partner’s tail brushed against her face but remained deep asleep and simply shifted to rest her head against the chair’s arm-rest. After the man gave a nod as a form of greeting, Carmen promptly flicked out her long, wet tongue and tried to lick him on the cheek. “Chuu~!”

“Ah, I was wondering whether you knew the assassin or not. Mortelupi, I shall keep an eye out and make a few inquiries then,” Manticore responded reflecting on how it had been a while since she had really gotten interested in revenge schemes. Whatever information provoked the hit on him and his family might be worth calling in a few favors for. The sloppy way the hitman went about it inclined Manticore to blame one of the newer families. It was just plain stupid and unprofessional to kill a boss’ guardians and not clean up the loose ends.

“It sounds like war has begun,” she commented softly to herself, slumping into her seat with the bangs from her hair shadowing her expression.

War between families was on the way, and it would provide the perfect opportunity to rack up favors as well as being a perfect distraction for some daring heists. Yes, she’d help the wolf and take advantage of the carnage left in his wake. A smile came to the Arcobaleno’s face at the thought even as her eyes glazed over when the infant promptly fell asleep with her eyes still open. The pangolin shifted and stretched out protectively into the young baby’s lap while Manticore began to slip into deep breathing. Even while dreaming, the illusion surrounding them still held. Manticore raised an eyebrow at both the man’s caution in opening only the barest crack of his briefcase as well as the detailed explanation of how his information network would work. Granted, he had mentioned that he liked to gather information but he was much more meticulous than the thief would have anticipated. “I will keep that in mind,” she responded as she accepted the slip of paper and quickly entered the information into her own phone.

Also, she noticed how he completely overlooked the fact that she had blatantly admitted to being a thief. It would serve the cocky bastard right if he came back to find his base plundered of precious loot, she thought uncharitably. Unfortunately, she had already revealed herself and made a point of mentioning that she wasn’t up to any mischief.

“So, what type of information is the most valuable to you?” Even if she didn’t have or feel like giving the boss any information, it was a good chance to try and map out his current line of questioning.
