“Ahh, an elephant. As for myself…” Mars drew his fingers to his mouth, and whistled sharply into the air. “Here comes Thrackerzod.” ((Hehe you might get that reference Bakura)) A speck appeared in the sky, growing steadily bigger until a beautiful Pegasus landed in front of them. “This guy here’s a real sweety.” Thrackerzod nuzzled Mars’ hand with his nose. “He can get me anywhere in no time. I’ve trained him myself. A complete natural, no magic to his speed… most of the time. He can travel around… what was it again? Well naturally, just under the speed of light… With a little magic… About…” Mars racked his brain “3.23e47 mph. That’s around 47 decillion times the speed of light. Heh. Science.” Mars scoffed at the old idea that nothing could breach the light barrier. “Outdated thinking..” he mumbled. “At any rate,” he said, climbing onto Thrackerzod, “Let’s go.”

“Eh, nothing in particular. A discussion of magic? A duel? Anything really, I’m easy. It’s up to you.” Mars said, shrugging his shoulders. He turned back towards Stolas. “You can go now, buddy, I probably won’t need you.” He snapped his fingers. “I know! I could give you a tour of the place, and we could ride some of my pegasi!” Mars said. “How does that sound?”
-
“This game seems to be going a bit slow, wanna go do something and wait for them to catch up?” Mars questioned Bakura. He turned back to Stolas who had been nibbling on his finger. “Hey, quit that!” Mars wagged a finger at Stolas. “I completely forgot to introduce you. This is Stolas, my owl. He speaks English… amongst other things. He can cast some basic spells and travel at insane speeds. Say ‘hi’!”
-
“Interesting…” Mars said. “I’d like to have a further chat about that at some point, but we can save that for later.” He pulled out the rune matrix out of his bag, since he had collapsed the ritual materials back into his bag. “You were talking about how you hadn’t seen this language before. These runes…. I’m honestly surprised you haven’t. The council uses them all the time.” Mars paused, muttering to himself “Council brats. They don’t have an appreciation for fine magic… Dangerous my ass…” Mars regained his composure. “I don’t exactly like the council. They think my magic too dangerous, and say that my blending of science and ethereal could endanger the entire human race. Pah! Nonsense. Anyway, runes. What runes do you use?”

Mars turned towards the man. “I can help you find it, if you want.” he said. “I know a spell that can locate him.” Mars looked up into the sky, first at the sun and then around at the clouds. “I have a question for you. What type of magic is yours? Does it have an explanation? Is it based on forces we know nothing about? Or is it based on science?”
-
“Yes, interesting…” Mars looked at the man’s creation. “I wonder which method he used to make it? Alchemy-based or Vis-based? “Hmm, can you do this now?” Mars pulled into his bag at his side and pulled 5 small stone pedestals and a large cube with runes etched into it. “This is a Runic Matrix…”  he said, gesturing towards the stone. He took small bottles of strange red and green liquids out of his bag, and placed them next to his feet. Using vis, as alchemy-based magic wouldn’t cut it for this ritual, he summoned up a flower of his own. He pulled some magically infused shards out of his bag, and placing the pedestals in a pentagon around the larger stone, he placed 3 of the stones on the pedestals. On the remaining to pedestals he placed a small purple stone and a pile of Salis Mundus (a binding agent). He pulled out his staff, placed the flower in the center, and cast a warding spell on the area around. “Flux might get a little crazy here…” he said before tapping the stone in the center. Instantly, the stone shuddered and split open, a bright purple light pouring out from inside. Energies from the bottles of the strange red and green liquid Mars had placed bubbled up and were drawn into the flower, before the items on the pedestals dissolved as well. Purple lightning arced around the area, but the warding spell contained it. Once all of this was complete, the light dimmed and the Rune Matrix connected once more. Mars stepped inside and picked up the flower. He gave it a flick, before blowing on the tip. Shockingly, a large fireball spat out of the front of it and bounced across the ground, searing the grass. “It’sa me, Mario!” said Mars in his best Italian accent. “My name’s Mars.” He handed the flower to Bakura. “Enjoy.”

*hoo, hoo!*
“What’s that?” Mars looked up to see Stolas, his pet owl, flying towards him. He held out his arm, willing the cloth on his sleeve of his black robe to turn into leather. Stolas landed on this rather convenient staff replacement, and explained to Mars via telepathy what had happened. “You’re fucking with me. There’s another magic user?!” Mars turned back to Kit. “This is very urgent. You can tell me all about what happened later.” Mars quickly ran back towards the school. “Where was he?” Mars spoke to Stolas. “He’s with the others, by the monopoly game.” he responded. Mars continued running, but was halted in his tracks. “Mars….” Mars looked around. Nobody was nearby, and it wasn’t Stolas voice. “Who are you?” Mars replied. “Don’t worry about it…” spoke the whisper. “This boy… He is crucial to what will unfold. You must befriend him.” Mars thought for a second. “I know that already, why do you think I’m in such a hurry?” The whisper paused. “Good luck, Mars. I will contact you later.” Mars looked around. “Wait, I still don’t know who you are!” The voice was seemingly whisked away with the wind, but it almost seemed to say “I am the stars, the power that you own is mine…” With this exchange weighing heavily on his mind, Mars ran to the Monopoly game. Seeing the new player, he looked at him. “Are you…. A sorcerer too?..”
-
“Listen, Kit…” Mars said once they were out of earshot. “Explain to me everything that happened after I tried to teleport you back here. You were gone, like, forever? Where were you?” Mars paused. “You… kinda…. missed some important stuff…”
-
Mars looked around at the game “Who’s turn is it now?” He got up from the area. “If you’ll excuse me for a moment, I want to have a private chat with my good friend Kit here. Nothing’s wrong, just something I need to tell her about while she was gone.” Mars motioned to Kit. “We’ll be back in a minute, I promise.”

Mars looked at Ludwig. “Sure thing.” He held out his hand and, in a similar fashion to before, a small but intricately designed metal dog appeared in his hand. He then handed this to Ludwig. “Here you go.” he said with a smile.
-
Mars smiled. “I’m glad you like it.” he said. He looked back at the board. “So now what?”
-
“You move them around the board. They represent you.” Mars said. “I have the top hat,” he said, picking up the piece. “You can pick one of the ones that hasn’t been chosen yet.” he gestured to the pile. “Or if you’d prefer…” Mars held out his hand and performed a spell ((the details of which involve Quantum Mana Condensation and the conversion of nitrogen to metal, etc)) A few seconds later, an intricately designed dragon, complete with a small bout of flames coming out of it’s mouth, had atomically assembled in his hand. He gave it to Kit. “Enjoy,” he said, “and if anyone else wants custom made ones just ask.”
-
“It’s Monopoly. You’ve never heard of it.” Mars replied. He took the small piece of paper explaining the rules and handed it to Kit. “You buy properties and get rich off of people paying for landing on properties you own, which you use to get more properties and build a monopoly. Then you can spend money to make them pay even more when they land on your properties. It’s a little confusing at first, but it’s pretty easy to grasp once you start.”
-
“Oh shit.” Mars looked at Kit. “Where were you? I tried to send you back, but you didn’t come out the portal at the other end. Was there some instability or something? Where did you go?” Mars sighed. “At least your safe, so that’s great. Come play monopoly with us, I’m sure Aena would let you play.” Mars turned back to the game. “Who’s turn is it, anyway? Haru, have you gone?” Mars turned back to Kit. “If you’d like anything to drink, there’s plenty around.
-
Mars sighed. “So Aena here went first, I guess I’ll go next. Rolling the dice, he made sure to restrain himself from using mana to cheat. The dice tumbled, and his results were clear. “Yeah, doubles!” Mars moved his piece to the “Just Visiting” section of jail, before rolling again. “Drat,” he said, getting a 4 and a 2, resulting in him moving to St. James Place. “What the heck, I’ll buy.” He said, handing the banker his $180. In return he received the orange property card. “Yeah, now we’re talking,” he said placing the card in front of him. Sipping from the milk, he said “Who’s next?”
