The car connected, and X-0 exploded into a cloud of dust. The cloud abruptly reformed into the same humanoid figure.

Analysis: projectiles cause damage to most entities. Hero is using projectiles to damage those attacking the innocent. Emulate hero’s behavior.

Projectiles can be formed from robotic cells by arranging in shape of a sharpened cylinder. Projectiles can be accelerated to damaging speeds by electromagnetic repulsion.

    Process name enter?

X-0 paused. This feat of creativity was an usual request. Browsing possible names, two stuck out. The name of the hero, Blues. The name of the general attacking weapon- a cannon.

    Process name: Blues Cannon.

All this happened even as X-0 was reforming. When he did form, his right arm with a cannon, just like blues- though a bit larger. Larger projectile should have more momentum and do greater damage.

A moment afterwards, the cannon fired off several rounds. Huge rounds arced towards the main torso of the creature. Though the sacs on the arms looked weak, they didn’t seem vulnerable. Destroying them was unlikely to hurt the creature in a meaningful way.

Sensors indicate that a door was there.

Sensors now indicate that a door is not there.

Door did not move or change. Door simply does not exist.

Judgement: Sensor glitch. Door never existed.

Paradox: Current form entered through door. Door must exist.

Judgement: Logical analysis beyond current understanding. More data required.

X-0 continued onwards, analyzing the city as it went. Architecture differed. Materials are cheaper, not as efficient, and lacked luster. Also, various machines and biological lifeforms roamed the streets. This was not the peaceful city observed earlier. This city was under attack.

“Fear not for your hero has saved you.”

Hero? ‘A person, typically a man, who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.’ Observed man indeed had courage (‘the ability to do something that frightens one’) and his achievements seemed outstanding. Analysis complete. Hero is an admirable quality. Courage is necessary. This personality trait will be emulated as best possible. Currently nothing was frightening, but things that typically scare humans will be faced and overcome.

Other analyses: acid is corrosive to metal and should be avoided. Robots and viruses pose little threat.

Stepping onto the streets, X-0 raised his fists and ran after the big tentacled monster, searching it for weaknesses.

    System online. Data gathering active.

Heavy eyelids opened, scanning the area nearby. Blue skies. Tall buildings. People nearby.

“What- who turned it on? Idiot! Keep it off until it’s out of the city! It’s not supposed to know about this place!”

Abruptly visual feed was cut. Processors off. X-0 went back into sleep mode.

    System online. Data gathering active.

Heavy eyelids opened, scanning the area nearby. Metallic walls. A single door. No further observations.

    Imperative: ===> Explore.

X-0 stands up and steps out the door. Current form: Diagnostics show good system health. No damages. 6’2″, brown hair/eyes, muscular. Male.

Outside the door is a hallway. A map appears in a navigation program. Two locations were currently highlighted as ‘accessible’. A cityscape and wide biodome.

Memory of the cityscape that had only been visible for a few moments resonates in the processing system. Possible match. More information necessary.

X-0 walks down a hallway, toward the entrance to monster city.

Subject name and number: Name has not yet been assigned. Code X-0.

Containment procedure/Laboratory setting: Laboratory. Basic experimental procedures completed. Subject is ready to absorb information from environment. Will be released into communal areas and is free to explore within usual limits effective immediately.

    Description
-Appearance: Composed of trillions of nanobots, X-0 can take a number of forms. Default is a perfectly average human- Male, brown hair and eyes, medium brown skin, wearing a white t-shirt and white sweatpants. The clothing is made of bots as well; everything on him/it is. Can shapeshift into other shapes, but is limited by a lack of knowledge of shapes to shift into. Visual analysis can provide other body structures.

    X-0

-Height/Weight: Also variable. Could stretch absurdly tall by thinning, or could form a puddle on the floor. Weight of the collective cells is about 1 ton, but each cell has gravitational manipulation technology and can float, so weight can vary from 0 lb to 1 ton.

-History: There isn’t any. X-0 was created as the greatest feat nanotechnology could accomplish by a staff engineer. It has been given a general sort of consciousness and basic human form, and will now be dispatched to learn and attempt to simulate a human ‘heart’ by copying that of other humans.

-Powers/Abnormal abilities: Can split apart into base cells, and reattach easily. Therefore blunt force and cutting are easily healed. While attached together, the cells can collectively create a voltage between two points on the body, making X-0 a living taser. Can shape-shift a limited amount, as previously mentioned. Can split entirely into a cloud of nanobots, becoming invisible. While entirely split apart, the cells can create strong winds by collectively flying in the same direction at high speeds, or a tornado by flying in circles around a point. These winds are particularly painful because of the microscopic pieces of metal flying in them.

-Psychological evaluation: None. X-0 is a blank slate. Personality traits will be absorbed from those it encounters.

-Additional facts: Can be shut down instantly if staff decides it has become too rogue. Weak to ice, fire or heat attacks, but absorbs electricity and is waterproof.

The pen rises of its own accord, hundreds of invisibly small robots linking around it and forcing it upwards. The pen stands on its tip and makes a perfect circle on the paper. “0”. Then it lowers smoothly to the table and the nanobots disperse.

Well, no one else was really there. That made Ash next. Stepping inside the office door, Ash looked up at the awkwardly tall, buff principal. “Uhhhh… Hey. Did you want something…?”

((My last post was a bit late, catching up now))

Ugh. Morning. Ash rolled over and popped a few neck tendons, barely registering the loudspeaker noises. Line. Get in line. Office. Well heck, there was only one office around here.

A few minutes later, dressed and showered, Ash was outside the absurd chaos that was… The principle’s office. Seriously, couldn’t any of these kids just control themselves for one minute? It really got annoying after a bit. All the guns going off and magic flying around. And the principle with the giant sword did approximately nothing to calm things down. He just made threats and yelled and doled out punishments, pissing off more kids while others teleported all over the place and caused more havoc.

Ash’s fists clenched and the air hazed and pulsed ever so slightly nearby. The haze subsided a moment later as they got their temper under control.

“Just… shut up… All of you…” Ash whispered through gritted teeth, trying to get over to whatever vague semblance of a ‘line’ was in front of the office while holding back the urge to forcibly freeze and silence them all. A fight would definitely not help anything. Seriously, if ash was the sanest one there… something was very wrong.

Amidst the confusion and the strange teleporting wraith, Ash slipped away. Waaay too many people. By the time Godal had called for lights out, Ash was already in bed, reading fanfiction on a smartphone. Sleep came fast, though the dreams were as disturbing as always. Even moreso that night.

The world was ending yet again in the dream. How, it was hard to tell. But with all these kids running around with such power… perhaps it was inevitable.

Ash joined the other students talking about the notebooks, staying out of the conversation but listening near the edges. Gym? If it was anything like today’s match, hopefully it wasn’t required. Ash politely took a notebook and listened to their speculations.

Great. A roommate. Ash tried not to sigh, but was certainly surprised. There just weren’t enough rooms, apparently. “No, it’s fine.” Hey, at least he was better than some of the crazy freakazoids in the gym. He seemed polite, at least. Perhaps this would be a good time to try to make friends.

“A tour… well, I suppose it would be nice. How do you already know the school so well, though? Haven’t you been here as long as I have?”

Goodness, her manner of speech took your brain for a ride. He could follow the words, though only barely. “Then one on one it must be. I only hope our gaming session won’t be as small. A two player session would be difficult, to say the least.”

Dane reached behind one of the bots and tossed a white scepter to Ruby. “White queen of Prospit, assume your duty.” Dane sheathed one of his blades and drew his own black scepter, stabbing it into the air. Around him, the army of black robots rose to life and drew weapons. Great armored rooks towered over the field, bishops waved ‘wands’ that shot lightning at diagonals, and knights held great swords as long as they were.

Dane himself climbed aboard the shoulder of the black king as it rose, his other blade sheathed so he could hold onto the king and scepter. Gesturing with the scepter, he sent two waves out to either side of the white army. Rooks guarded the wave, with knights reaching over them with their blades to stab from behind the rooks. Pawns rushed among the wave with smaller swords, overwhelming with sheer numbers and speed, and the bishops stayed back with Dane next to the king and queen, shooting lightning from a distance.

There wasn’t much time for Ruby to think. She’d have to come up with a plan fast or her entire army would be decimated before the war even began.

“I… Know where the rooms are, I have one…” Ash muttered, but hey. Not going to object to some company, as long as it didn’t get too intense. At least that death trap in there had settled down. “I’m Ash… The principal said your name is Jerrel?”

Ash followed him politely to the rooms, then stopped in front of their own. “Yeah. So… My room. Thanks for walking me, though.”

As ash finished their meal, they noticed a strange commotion down the hall. They stretched, stood up, and made their way down the hall, carefully edging open the door. Inside a fight raged on- between the principal and students, no less. Ash quickly closed the door and backed away. “Nopenopenopenope.” At least they all seemed to be enjoying it- but that was one activity Ash would not be taking part in. A fight against a god slayer was not something they fancied.

Ash stayed to the shadows. It was just who they were. They preferred to remain unnoticed, and had succeeded thus far. The rules were simple enough. Ash hadn’t planned on killing anyone, anyways. Rooms were easy to find when you weren’t picky. And the green tie… well, they just wore it like a normal human being. It would normally have looked stupid, as Ash was inclined to wear T-shirts and jeans, but today Ash’s parents had insisted on something more formal. “It’s the first day of school, you need to look nice. Set good impressions.” Blah blah blah. Like they were likely to make friends here anyways. Regardless, a black button-up shirt and slacks had been a good compromise.

And so the first day of school began as you might expect for an agorophobic- in their room, playing on their laptop. Until they realized that they were hungry, and that would necessitate a trip to the food court. Filled with… People. With a shudder, Ash rose from the bed and started making their way through the halls to get something to eat.

Luckily, most everyone had already made their way out of the lunch hall. Ash took some food from the counter, thanked them quickly, and sat down to eat. Thank god everyone was in the gym…
